The Sun has risen on a New Day

This morning I woke up to a most beautiful sunrise: clouds lined with deep pinks and blues, pierced with shafts of golden sunlight. It was breathtaking. Right after enjoying the sunrise I sat in my living room, and as I scrolled through my Facebook feed I noticed picture after picture of sunrises from all over the world. This was unusual to see so many photos of amazing sunrises. I realized that they were all Rosh Hashanah sunrises. It is the sunrise of a new day!

As I looked upon our bright pink dawn here in Oregon I was reminded that pink represents grace. Once again I want to remind you that grace is unmerited favor. I believe that we have moved into a new day with shouts of “Grace, grace” released from heaven over the body of Christ.

“What are you, you great mountain? Because of Zerubbabel you will become a level plain! And he will bring forth the temple capstone with shoutings of ‘Grace! Grace!’ because of this.” Zechariah 4:7

Mountains that have stood in your way and caused your life to be an uphill climb are about to become a level plain for you to easily cross over, and the capstone (the final stone that is placed on the top of something such as a wall) is being placed upon your life. Jesus is the Capstone (cornerstone) of grace that crowns our lives. He came to give grace to mankind, because even with our greatest effort, we cannot produce or give a pure enough offering to reconcile us to God. Jesus became that offering and so that grace was given to mankind. When Jesus is the capstone of our lives, then grace becomes our crown and we live under unmerited favor.

I sense that this sunrise to a new day will usher God’s people into a new revelation of grace. We often begin in grace but then move into self-effort, trying to earn our way to blessings. But I hear the announcement of “Grace, grace!” over this new day.

“This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, ‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone'” 1 Peter 2:7.

Invite Jesus, the very embodiment of grace, to be the capstone—the cornerstone—of your life. Then watch grace pour down over the mountains that have stood before you to become a level plain. Grace will give you rest; grace will do for you what you cannot do for yourself.

“Cease striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” Psalm 46:10.

Our God is powerful and good, and we can rest, because we trust in His love. The God of Grace is the initiator of your journey and He will complete it. Just as the sunrise hour is a time where life feels “still” and yet creation is alive with beauty, so you are being called into the stillness of trust that makes room for beauty to shine forth.

I will leave you with this verse:

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you” Romans 16:20.

Grace and peace in God will crush your enemy…He is our mighty Warrior and defender. Be still…
