It’s Your Day of Atonement! Decree His Seven Blessings and Watch Them Be Established In Your Life!

by Kathi Pelton

Today we are in the midst of The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), which begins at sunset on Tuesday, October 8, and ends at nightfall on Wednesday, October 9. It is the most holy day on the Hebrew calendar and it truly is a significant day for all believers. As we remember that Jesus is the One who atoned for all of our sins and that His atonement is a permanent atonement, no longer temporary as in the Old Testament. Yet, within that atonement is a promise of blessings that we receive as well. I believe we obtain these blessing as we come into Christ but they become established as we decree them over our lives…for His Word does not return void.

As we recognize this most holy time of the Fall feasts; decree the seven blessings that God decreed for this day:

• You’ll receive a double portion from the Lord (Joel 2:23) … TWICE the power of every blessing!

• You’ll experience financial overflow (like the threshing floor of Joel 2:24)!

• What you’ve lost will be restored (Joel 2:25)!

• Jesus will return or you’ll experience an explosion of miracles in your life (“wondrously,” Jesus says in Joel 2:26)!

• The divine presence of Jesus Himself will be in your midst (Joel 2:27)!

• Increased revelation knowledge will pour into your life, and angels will camp around your children (Joel 2:28)!

• What has stopped or blocked you will be banished — you’ll be delivered (Joel 2:32)!

Atonement is defined as:

1. reparation for a wrong or injury.

2. the reconciliation of God and humankind through Jesus Christ.

Here is the list again with the scriptures written out for you to decree. This is the Hebrew year 5780, which represents the “mouth” and I believe that it is a year to “decree a thing and it will be established!”

Joel 2:18-23 gives seven supernatural blessings connected to the Day of Atonement offering:

A Double-Portion Blessing

“He will cause the rain to come down for you — The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month” (Joel 2:23). The former rain prepares the land for seed-time, and latter rain prepares it for harvest. During the first month of the Jewish New Year, both rains come together. This double-portion blessing still happens today for those who present a Day of Atonement offering to the Lord.

• God’s Divine Presence

“I am in the midst of Israel: I am the LORD your God and there is no other” (Joel 2:27). Everywhere you go, His presence goes with you.

Restoration

“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25 NIV). God promised that He will give back to you whatever the devil has taken away from you.

Miracles

“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you” (Joel 2:26). God promised not only to provide you with plenty but also that He will deal wondrously with you. Imagine an outpouring beyond anything you’ve know before.

Financial Outpouring

“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil” (Joel 2:24). If we obey the covenants of God, He promises to open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so big that we won’t have room enough to receive it (see Malachi 3:10).

Blessings upon Your Family

“I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days” (Joel 2:28-29). God desires for your family to build a great heritage of faith and follow Him all the days of your life (see Psalm 115:14).

Deliverance

“Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved” (Joel 2:32). This includes those of us who have been “grafted” as wild olive branches into the tree (see Romans 11:11-24), and this promise of deliverance is available to believers everywhere.

Gather your family and decree these words together! Establish them over and in your lives and household this day that we remember the atonement that has been given to us through Christ Jesus.

He not only takes away our sins but then He gives us a seven fold blessing in return! What a wonderful Savior!
