Welcome to our blog. The name Oceans in the Desert came from inspiration out of Isaiah 43:19
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
In my February 16, 2014 article published on The Elijah List, I quoted this verse. That day I received an e-mail from someone who had read my article and they shared with me how the Lord had lead them to go to the Oregon coast. When she looked out on the vast ocean before her, the Spirit asked her a question, “What do you see?” She responded, “I see an ocean.” Then the Spirit said, “I’m bringing oceans to your desert.” Receiving this note expanded my vision from merely seeing streams to seeing oceans in my desert places.
Our human eyes may see a desert standing before us but when we stop and look with the eyes of our spirit we find a vast ocean filled with everything that we need. The reality of walking according to what our spirit eyes see is the beginning of walking in the abundant life that we have been promised. It will launch us into confidently walking in new places, it will give us the courage to throw our nets on the other side of the boat and it will allow us to live in hopeful expectancy in seeing the goodness of God in the land of the living. Our human eyes will continually deceive us into only seeing the obstacles and circumstances before us. Our spirit eyes allow us to see those paths in the wilderness and rivers (oceans) in the dry wasteland.
We walk by faith and not by sight and we will write by faith and not by sight as well. Both Jeff and I welcome you to join us on our journey to move and live only according to the Spirit of God. We would love to hear stories from your journey as well.
So encourage each other to build each other up, just as you are already doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
