The Gift That Keeps on Giving

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

Grace…this is the greatest gift ever given to mankind.  We are saved by grace and then live in it for during every breath that we take.  The definition of grace is as follows; the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.  Free and unmerited!  That is the truth that sets us free from the works that lead us merely to more works and then a sure failure from obtaining the desired goal; eternal life.  Grace is the absolute defeat of death because we are assured that we merely move from one place into a greater place where there is no end and no more pain.   Grace is the gift that we have been given that bridges the sin that once separated man from the presence of God.

Not a day should go that any believer should say that they have nothing to be thankful for.  Though I don’t have “everything” that I’ve ever wanted, I don’t have answers for every prayer that I’ve prayed for and my life is not absent of hardships and pain, never-the-less; I do have the free gift of salvation by grace every day.   How could I ever earn eternal life?  How could I ever obtain righteousness by my own strength?  I couldn’t!  It had to be given freely.  Jesus was the only One who could do this.  His love reached for me before I ever existed and this love endures from generation to generation.

If you are having a hard time finding something to be thankful for today then think about the greatest gift that has ever been given…grace!  His love and grace are never-ending, relentlessly unchangeable and without measure.  It is yours!
