Waiting…
Airports, doctor’s offices, the DMV, dreams, hopes and desires…what do these things all have in common? Waiting. This is an act of doing nothing; but even though you are still, you are still advancing with each passing moment. Waiting’s actual definition means, “The act of being inactive.”
Are you waiting? The act of being inactive is one of the hardest disciplines we engage in. The temptation to give up on waiting can be overwhelming. Whenever I have to “take a number” to wait for assistance I know that it’s bound to be a long wait. I continually remind myself not to give up because each moment is a moment closer to having my number called. There have been a couple of times that I’ve given up and left before having my number called. This act always ends in regret and “if only” thoughts.
If you are in the process of waiting then remember that you are moving forward even in your act of being inactive. Each moment you are getting closer to the fulfillment of your divine appointment. There is movement, there is activity in the realm of time and there is a blessing coming.
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
