“…and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor…”
Have you been in a time that looks like your life is in ashes? Maybe mourning has been more prevalent than joy. The Lord showed me a vision of ashes being mixed into the soil of His people’s lives. I understood that these ashes had come from a time of great sorrow and even from a season of refinement. As these ashes were mixed into lives the people became perplexed because they thought that they had been promised that it was a new day and that their breakthrough from the seasons of sorrow were coming to an end. The deeper and wider that these ashes were mixed into their lives the more perplexed they became. But in the midst of their confusion they remain in hope because they believe in the unfailing love of their God.
Then, out of this soil, came the richest harvest of fruit and the most beautiful flowers that I’ve ever seen. The colors of the fruit, vegetables and flowers were vibrant and so very beautiful. The size of the produce was enormous. I wondered how this kind of beauty and richness could come from an ash filled soil. Then I heard the Spirit say, “Ash is the fertilizer that produces a great harvest of beauty.”
I then looked up if ash (in the natural) can be used as fertilizer and indeed it can and is used in compost to produce a rich and healthy soil. If this works in the natural just think of how it produces rich soil in the spirit realm.
Here is the good news for you. If you have felt like this new year of promise has only caused the ashes to go deeper and wider in your life, then know that God may merely be mixing the ashes from your season of sorrow into the soil of your life to bring forth bounty and beauty. Begin even now to dream with God about the beauty that will very soon come forth from your ashes. Beauty, joy, praise…for a display of His splendor!
