The Doorway of Remembrance

Today I have continually been reminded of the greatness of the love of God toward me. It has come in greats waves of new awareness and in the gentle ripples of remembrances from days gone by.
We have had very special house guests this week and during their time with us we have told many stories; some were of God’s miracles at work in our lives and some where about seasons that we’d call “dark nights of the soul”. But in each and every story, both heard and told, I became once again deeply moved by the constant theme of how great His love for us is. His love carried us through dark seasons that forged us into who we are today and His love astonished us with miracles that left us wondering how we ever could have a moment of doubt.
I keep being aware of how important the stories of His love are and how the testimonies of Jesus are creating momentum to go deeper, to fall even more in love and to receive courage to follow Him wherever He calls.
We need to allow the stories of the greatness of His love to anoint us for the days to come. They stand before us as doorways into new realms of beauty and intimacy that cause us to return to our first love. It is as though the stories of our past have become doorways to our future as we remind our souls and our loved ones of His faithfulness.
“Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your ancestors? Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.”‭‭ Joel‬ ‭1:2-3‬ ‭
I do not fully understand what I am experiencing but I want to shout to my soul (and to your soul) the word, “REMEMBER!” At every point of lack or weakness God comes to manifest His grace and strength. Even at the times of our greatest strength He takes things a step further and brings forth a miracle so that no man may boast in anything but his weakness that made a way for God’s strength.
How great is His love for us! How wide, how deep and how great it is! The greatest doorway you may go through today is the doorway of remembrance. It is a legacy and a testimony that cannot be stolen. It is a launching pad into the new stories that are waiting to be written upon the pages of your life and family.
Today tell someone a story of the greatness of His love toward you.
