Last night at our HOME house of prayer the Holy Spirit was present in such a sweet and beautiful way. Our two worship leaders (Randy and our son-in-law, Luke) began to release sounds with their instruments that were straight from the Throne of God. At one point, as Luke was playing, a number of us began to hear the most beautiful voice singing. I opened my eyes to see who it was but the sound was coming from His guitar rather than a human voice.
As this happened, I began to experience the sounds surrounding and dancing around me–“rejoicing over me with singing”. We had gathered to worship our King but in the midst of our worship our King began to sing over us.
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).
I know that these verses were written for Jerusalem, but the Lord can speak these words of hope over both His eternal city and His children. Last night He was encircling His children with a dance of love that released the sound of Him “rejoicing over us with singing”.
Today the Lord desires to sing and dance and rejoice over you. He takes great delight in you. The Lord desires to surround you with songs of deliverance, songs of love and songs of restoration. The Son is rising upon your life to bring you the warmth of His light and to encircle you with His embrace.
Just as the sounds of His love covered us and danced around us last night, so His sounds and dance are covering you today. There are times that it is good to just stop and allow God to release His delight over you.
Immediately after this beautiful time Luke shared that as he played he kept hearing declarations coming out of heaven over His people. He said,
“I saw the Roman Coliseum and in the midst of it I began to hear a loud voice echoing throughout it that declared, ‘Victory, victory, victory!’ It was so loud!”
How interesting that as God released these beautiful sounds of love through Luke’s guitar, he heard shouts of victory from a historic site where Christians were martyred so many years ago.
In the Roman Coliseum these martyrs were encircled by tens of thousands of voices mocking them and shouting for their their death, thinking it meant ultimate defeat. In vast contrast the Lord stands in that very place and shouts declarations of victory over His people while encircling us with His love. Shouts of victory resounded in a place that historically represented defeat and death. Jesus is triumphant and He rejoices over us with singing!
We met last night to sing to Him and He turned the tables and sang over us. He has turned the tables in every situation that seems like defeat with shouts of victory. You can trust in Him and His goodness, for He has promised us that no matter the circumstances, “…all things work together for good for those who love God….” (Romans 8:28).
This is for you today! Songs of love and shouts of victory!
