Awakening the New Day

By Kathi Pelton

As I prepare for the dawning of a new year I am thinking about how the last act of 2016 will be to light the final candle of Hanukkah at sunset on New Years Eve. Eight candles will flicker before me and once again tell the story of the eight nights of miraculous light and oil that happened so long ago. But there is a ninth candle in the middle that is used to light all of the others. That is my MESSIAH candle. He is the One who came to bring light to all of the world. He is the Miracle of miracles. He lights the world with His light. He was the One who brought the miracle of light in the temple those eight days that is still celebrated today. He is the One who awakens the dawn of each day with mercies anew.

As the new year dawns we will complete 2016 with the lighting of the final Hanukkah candle. We will remember the miracle and the One who makes miracles. We will usher into 2017 the merging of the old into the new; miracles that we tell the stories of, such as the parting of seas, the raising of dead, the barren conceiving will be seen once again in the earth.

Brothers will be reunited and healed, families restored, the divided will be united and slaves will become sons. Miracles of the Deliverer will come upon individuals, nations and people groups. It is the awakening of the dawn of a new day. I hear this verse,

“A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭90:4‬ ‭

This is a new day…a new watch where light dispels the darkness of the night.

Thank you to all of our 2016 supporters! We could not have come this far without you. We are led to pray and declare Ephesians 3:20 over all of our 2016 supporters and their families. As you enter into 2017 we are agreeing in prayer for the “more than you can ask or imagine” to come upon your lives.
