In 2002 Patricia King came to California, where our family was living, and called me up to ask us to have dinner with her. During that dinner she asked if we’d pray about moving our family to Kelowna, British Columbia to oversee the house of prayer that she had started (The War Room).
Honestly, we said we’d pray but both my husband and I were thinking, “No way!!” We had just bought a brand new home six months earlier, California was our home and where all of our family and friends were and we had four young children. Plus, Canada is another country and she wanted us to move in six weeks!
On the way home from that dinner we both agreed that it was a very flattering offer but that there was no way that this could be God. But, being faithful sons and daughters we prayed for God to reveal His will. As we approached home we prayed the words,
“God, if it is Your will for us to move to Canada then open wide the door.”
We drove up our driveway to our house and our the front door of our house was wide open! No one was home and we clearly remembered closing and locking the door when we left. From that moment on it was confirmation after confirmation that was undeniable. I wrestled against His leading the entire time leading up to the move. How could we move in just weeks with a large mortgage, no visas to live in another country, no financial support raised and no place to live? When I’d be wrestling with this question God would merely say,
Six weeks later; with a FOR SALE sign on our new home, everything we owned in storage, our pets farmed out to family and our four kids in a packed full minivan, we left everything we loved to follow His leading. We had only enough money to get there, less than $200 a month in support raised and Patricia had set up for our family to stay in a one bedroom basement for a couple of weeks. No visas in hand, just faith!
To make a very long story short (leaving out all of the emotional highs and lows), we got into Canada, were given housing, sold our home in California (took a huge loss but it sold), ended up with Visas for our whole family and God miraculously provided every step of the way throughout the years we spent there.
I remember one day shortly after we’d arrived in Canada, Patricia King was talking with us because I was struggling with thoughts like, “What have we done and how will we provide for our family?”. She said to me, ”
“Kathi, if I told you that next week that I was going to give you a million dollars would you begin to make plans for what you would do with it even though you didn’t have it yet?”
“Yes, of course because I trust your word.”
She then said,
“God has given you His word that He will provide and make a way for your family and you can trust His word.”
She was right. He was faithful! He provided above and beyond what we could ask or imagine all along the way. Miracles manifested as we put our trust fully in what He has said and where He led us. His promises are sure and you can put your trust in Him!
Our family is once again on a pathway of faith that is requiring absolute trust for miracles to manifest. Just like our move to Canada to oversee the house of prayer, we have stepped out in what I call “crazy faith” that requires walking on water or completely sinking. As we fix our eyes on Him we will stay above the water and even if we get scared for a moment and look at the waves, He will grab our hand and draw us to Himself.
I am sharing our story and our current faith walk because I want to encourage you that as you follow Him and the words that He speaks to you, then every miracle you need will manifest!
Try not to focus on how it will come or what it will look like because that will merely cause you anxiety if it begins to look different than you expect. Fix your eyes on Jesus and move toward Him knowing that He will take care of the rest. Nothing can separate you from His love so run after His love with everything in you.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:36, 38
The greatest miracle is living every day in the love of Christ. In the place and presence of His love there is assurance, peace, joy, praise and great intimacy. As you pursue His love and presence you will see everything else taken care of. Miracles manifest in the power of His presence.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Keep believing, move forward and follow where He leads you. He is forever faithful so follow where He leads. Many of you are about to see the manifestation of miracles as you have stepped out to walk on water in the midst of a storm.
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
Watch Him because He is your God and nothing is too hard for Him.
