I sat down to spend time with the Lord today and began to hear the first line to the song, “My Girl”
It says,
“I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day…”
As these words repeated again and again I began seeing people under another day of cloudy skies. They looked depressed and longing for the breakthrough of the sun (Son).
Then these ones who had been under cloudy skies began to hear a song coming forth from Heaven. God was singing to His Bride the words,
“I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
When it’s cold outside I’ve got the month of May
Well I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin’ ’bout my girl (my girl)”
As His people heard His song to her they joined in singing a version of the song back to Him that went like this,
“I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
When it’s cold outside I’ve got the month of May
Well I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way?
My God (my God, my God)
Talkin’ ’bout my God (my God)”
As this melodic exchange or duet continued I looked again and suddenly the clouds parted causing the sunshine to break forth in all its brightness. April became like the bridge of a song that they crossed over into May upon. May’s new leaves and flowers were revealed, blue skies were overhead and warmth filled the people causing great joy to burst from them.
Fruit was on the trees and bees were on the flowers. I heard the words, “The time of harvest and honey has come.”
When I heard these words I saw barn doors opened, farm equipment fired up and great amounts of activities begin. I understood that the barns had been long empty and the equipment had sat unused for a long period of time. But the time of “plenty” had come and everything was coming into action. I even saw these barns receiving new paint and the stalls filled with fresh hay. As the equipment was fired up there became like new again.
I then saw people in beekeeping suits and they were harvesting the honey combs. There were jars to be filled and sweetness to be tasted. Then I remembered that the next verse to the song “My Girl” said something about bees. When I looked it up I saw these words,
“I’ve got so much honey the bees envy me
I’ve got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
Well I guess you’d say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin’ ’bout my girl (my girl ooh)”
The time of singing has come! The birds are singing, the Bridegroom is singing and the bride is singing. This song was the bridge that crossed her into the sunshine, the sweetness and the activity of breakthrough.
“Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.”
Song of Solomon 2:12
