Many of God’s people are in the grip of huge and sudden transitions. In times of change, new assignments and unfamiliar paths it can leave even the most experienced pioneers a bit unsteady.
Our family is one of those caught up in this whirlwind of change. This is not anything new to us as we have moved to other cities, states and countries in our 34 years of marriage. Of a matter of fact, this is our 22nd move! You’d think we’d just take it in stride and enjoy the ride. The truth is that this “whirlwind” was completely unexpected and it has been accompanied by a wind of adversity that began to throw us completely off balance.
The winds of adversity have come because the enemy understands that God is strategically moving His sons and daughters into key positions for the sake of expanding His Kingdom and occupying lands destine for revival and a great harvest.
These winds have had hurricane force strength. If you are in God’s whirlwind of change and the winds of adversity have come to blow you off course then it is vitally important to firmly plant your feet upon the solid and unshakable rock of Jesus Christ. He is your firm foundation and and storm shelter in the midst of the storm.
As I asked the Spirit for wisdom for His as we navigate through this time of change. He took me back to the time that I was giving birth to my daughter. The pain and pressure was getting very intense and fear was beginning to set in with each increasingly strong contraction. At that time I asked the Spirit for help and wisdom to make it through the intense transition time. His answer was this,
“Kathi, don’t fight against the pressure but move with it, lean into rest and breathe deep.”
During the next contraction I stopped fighting against the pain. Rather than tensing up and holding my breath I began to breathe and allow my body to relax and move with the pain and pressure. Though there was still pain and there was still pressure, there was no longer panic. Fear left and focus returned.
This is great wisdom for those going through transition at this time. You are birthing your prophetic promise and the time of transition is always the hardest. Breathe! It’s time to move with the pain and pressure rather than fighting against it. The winds of adversity are the fiercest in the place of fear and flight. As you rest and put your confidence upon the Rock of Christ you will find yourself caught up in “His” whirlwind that will take you where you are meant to be without harm or trauma.
As my spiritual parents said to me yesterday,
“This is a time to trust fully in the sovereignty of God. Put no trust in the flesh or in your strength and understanding but fully lean upon God and His sovereignty to carry you to the new place.”
I share these words of wisdom with you because I believe this is a time to see the “sovereignty of God” demonstrated in lives and nations like this generation has never seen before. Fear will lead to flesh and this is where adversity will try to blow you off course; causing delay and trauma. The posture of trust and rest in our God will provide a place of shelter and peace in the midst of the storm.
For those of you that are already in your strategic position, please pray for those who are in the midst of change. Pray for the many nations in the midst of change as well. May the winds of change that bring freedom overcome the winds of adversity that bring destruction.
“For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.”
Creation groans to see the son’s of God revealed and we groan to see the Son of God receive all that He is due. He alone is worthy!
