Mother’s Day…
Mother’s Day is a day that honors moms and yet it takes children to be a mom. Children are truly such a great reward for all of the hard work in this life. To every mom their children are perfectly beautiful. From the moment they born every part of them is unbelievably precious. Their toes, their little fingers, their tiny nose, their chubby cheeks…and so on.
When my children were babies I could spend hours just watching them sleep and every smile or coo brought me close to tears. When they were toddlers every new word they spoke caused great excitement and every new first was written down in a book of remembrance. When they were school-aged every piece of art was a masterpiece displayed in our home with great pride and hitting a baseball or doing a cartwheel for the first time was like an Olympic gold medal being won. When they became teens I marveled at their beauty, talents and that they still loved me. And now…they are young adults and I stand in awe at who they have become and how honored I am to say that I am their mom.
Did you know that this is how our Heavenly Father looks at you and your life? He knows every hair upon your head and ever tear that you’ve ever cried. He rejoices when you rejoice and weeps when you are in pain. Just as a mother spends many hours praying for her children, so the Lord intercedes for you with the deepest love you will ever know.
I would lay down my life for my children without a second thought. They are my most precious gifts. Your Heavenly Father feels the same way! But He gave His most precious son’s life because He loves you so very much. How can we even fathom giving one of our children’s lives? I’d far easier give my life then the life of one of my children. This is how much He loves you!
““For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
JOHN 3:16 AMP
His “one and only” son…such amazing love! I cannot imagine loving anyone more than I love my family (and God) . The Father so loved us that He sent His Son and the Son so loved His Father that He wanted to restore to Him the children that He loved. Absolute unity in the midst of absolute love.
Unity and love within our families is the greatest joy to the heart of a mother. The same is true with God. As His children we are invited into the love and unity that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit share. Jesus prayed for this unity while He was still on Earth,
““I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message, that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me.”
JOHN 17:20-21 AMP
As we approach Mother’s Day I want to stand with you and agree in prayer for these things:
• May your children and children’s children know and believe in the One who gave His life for them.
• May you and your family experience living in the unity and love that is shared by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as Jesus prayed for in John 17.
• May all the prayers that you have prayed for your children and the intercession of Jesus be brought to fruition. May they be fruitful in their bodies, souls and spirits.
• May you be blessed above and beyond what you can ask or imagine on this Mother’s Day according to Ephesians 3:20.
Happy Morher’s Day to you! And…thank you to my children and grandchildren for making me a mom and for your amazing love for me!
