Oceans in the Desert

“Fake News” seems to be the theme of this season but for believers this is nothing new. The enemy has been speaking fake news regarding God, His family, His Kingdom and their identity since the beginning of time. 

As we have been hearing our president declare “fake news” over the past number of months, the Lord has been using this to alert His people of the false reports that the enemy is sending against people, cities and nations. I hear the Spirit reminding us with the words from 1 Peter 5:8,

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

If what you are hearing does not align with the Word of God then know this, “It is fake news!” God is good, just and He keeps His promises. He is the God of peace, His wisdom and counsel establishes righteousness. 

How do we stand against the enemy’s bad reports and fake news?

Recently I saw a vision of a large city. I was viewing it from an aerial vantage point and I saw a thick layer of smog upon the city. I understood that this smog was demonic lies and deceptions that polluted the city and the minds of its citizens. It clouded their view from perceiving God’s truth and from the revelation of the Kingdom of God. Then suddenly I saw God’s people begin to pray for their city. They declared truth, God’s good reports, righteousness, peace and justice over their city. As they did this it became a wind that blew back this smog of deception over their city and off of the minds of its citizens. This made room for a move of God to come in and a great harvest of souls to come forth.

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

The fake news from the enemy is the smog that is polluting the minds of men, women and children all over the world. It is the bad reports and deceptions that cloud truth and birth wrong beliefs and distorted “love”. This is nothing new but the level deception has greatly increased. With this increase of deception there MUST be an increase of prayer. 

All of God’s people are called to pray for their city and nation. As the world focuses on environmental issues the body of Christ must focus prayers on the spiritual atmosphere over our cities and nations. We are called to change the spiritual climate over the Earth. Spiritual climate change is the responsibility of the Church.

“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Jeremiah 29:7

Not only will prayer push back the kingdom of darkness but as the Kingdom of God is established in your city; peace and prosperity will come and you too will prosper. 

The deceptions that we are seeing exposed in media should be seen as a call to prayer that releases truth and God’s good news. As deceptions increase so should prayer. 

Truth trumps lies! Prayer is the trump card that God is bringing forth to gain the advantage. It is offensive move that will put the enemy’s camp on the defensive. It is the weapon that will push back deception and create space for a move of God in your city and nation.

This is truth!! This is God’s good report and news. 

“O LORD, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O LORD, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”
