Yesterday, 23-year old pro-golfer, Jordan Spieth’s ball was lodged in the bunker (sand pit) while playing in a PGA tournament. It appeared that defeat was the sure outcome. Then, in what he is calling a stroke of luck, he hit the ball from the sand pit (bunker) not only only onto the green but it went straight into the hole giving him the tournament victory.
Though I do not follow pro-golf, when I saw the news clip of this exciting moment the Spirit immediately spoke to me saying,
“This is a prophetic picture of what is about to happen in many of My people’s lives. They will suddenly go from the pit of defeat to joy of victory. The place of sinking sand will miraculously turn into green pastures.”
I saw in my spirit many lives lodged in an underground bunker as they had been in a time of great warfare. They felt as though they were fighting the enemy day and night but never taking ground. Then in what the world would call a “stroke of luck” they took one more shot that defeated their enemy and released their lives from the pit.
Of course the Church will know that the victory belongs to the Lord!
“No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the Lord. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
Proverbs 21:30-31
After Joseph was thrown into the pit by his brothers, he spent many years in captivity and prison. It appeared that the promise and dream that God given to him had been defeated. But God was orchestrating the events of his life and in His divine timetable Joseph was not only released but like Jordan Spieth’s shot from the bunker to victory, Joseph received his victory!
Whether you have been living in a pit or bunker for months or years, know that God is orchestrating the events of your life even when you cannot see it. You will come out of this pit and experience the promise given to you.
Many years ago, when my husband and I had been trying to adopt our oldest daughter (after years of infertility) we experienced what appeared to be a final defeat. Though the Lord had given us promises and dreams confirming that she was our daughter, we had been given news of final defeat. The courts and social workers decided against giving her to us. We were devastated, confused and felt completely defeated. We were even told that she was given to another couple. But we were about to learn that God is always a keeper of His promises and is orchestrating events behind the scene.
Two months after this defeat we suddenly received a phone call telling us to come and get her! A divine reversal had occurred. While we sat in the pit of loss and grief, God was moving on our behalf to fulfill His promise. Again, the world would call this a stroke of luck but we knew that it was a miracle that was orchestrated by God.
Do not give up on the promises God has spoken even if you have been in a pit for a long time. You will be freed from the pit that has held you captive. You will go from what feels like sinking sand to the beauty of green pastures and victory in a moment in time. God has been and still is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Your moment of release and victory is coming!
“Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem’s birth pains begin, her children will be born.”
Isaiah 66:8
Just as victories can come forth for nations in a single day, so can your victory come forth in a moment. Expect the birth of your promise to come forth!
