This morning I was praying for the many fires burning in both Southern California and British Columbia, Canada. As I prayed for these out-of-control fires I saw in my spirit an uncontainable fire coming that will come upon many cities and regions throughout the world.
Often natural wildfires are caused by man (campfires, ATVs, smoldering cigarettes, etc). These ingredients along with the presence of natural fuel (dry grass, brush, trees, heat and wind) can ignite fires that change the landscape of a city and region; often sweeping through neighborhoods and homes.
As these natural fires burn, bringing devastation, the spiritual fires that are coming will bring transformation. They will be sparked by two elements; man and God. The unity (John 17:20-23) that is coming upon the body of Christ coupled with the fuel of prayer, worship and the love of God will ignite uncontainable revival fires that will change the spiritual landscape of cities and regions all over the world.
I was watching a news report of a journalist asking a fire expert why so many fires in western North America are happening after a record breaking rainy winter. His answer was that the storms caused great growth (of vegetation) which has now become the fuel for these fires. As he said these words I saw the long and difficult storms that many have been through in this past season and the Spirit said,
“These storms have brought great growth in My people.”
This spiritual growth is now the fuel to ignite and spread the revival fires that are coming.
One of the fires that stood out to me was the Santa Barbara, California fire that is even now burning. It is interesting that in Catholic custom Saint Barbara (whom the city/county is named after) is the protectress against fire and lightening and yet fire is ravaging this region.
One of the things that has happened during the past season in the body of Christ is that the reliance on anything or anyone beyond the Lord Himself has been removed. He alone is our protector and redeemer from all dangers and losses. Any superstition or dependency on any other “gods” (mammon, man, human strength, power, etc.) are being consumed by the Refiner’s fire that has been upon His Church.
The refining fires have cleared the way for the revival fires to burn with purity. Most revival fires of the past have been contained and then put out by men taking ownership of the glory. What began in purity was contaminated with idolatry. God has allowed a long season of refining so that this coming revival fire will be uncontainable and undefiled by any man or name except the name of Jesus. It will be birthed in the purity of His people walking in the oneness and unity that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit enjoy. In unity with Him, we too become one and walk together in unity.
In this place that Jesus prays for beginning in John 17:20, we see how there is perfect oneness within the Godhead. There is no jostling for position or rank within the Godhead; only perfect oneness in every way. We are invited into this unity where man’s opinions, traditions, customs and ranks fall away. The jostling for positions and fame cease in the joy that comes from being a family.
“They never jostle each other; each moves in exactly the right position. They break through defenses without missing a step.”
Joel 2:8
I truly believe that we are living in a Joel 2 time (take time to read the entire chapter). A great army is arising after a great storm. They will arise from the ashes of the Refiner’s fire and release a fire of purity, beauty and unity that comes from dependency upon God alone.
The other fire that has stood out to me is a fire in BC, Canada that is now near a city called 100 Mile House. As I prayed for them I kept hearing the verse from Leviticus 26:8,
“Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword.”
Alone we can chase a few but together we can defeat ten thousand. His house will contain a family that is united together. They will walk as an army that is likened to an uncontainable fire that carries with them the glory of His presence that changes the landscape of every place they march together.
If you have been through a long and great storm then know that the growth that has happened in your life is now the fuel to receive the fire of revival. Thank Him for this refining and for the growth that has come from it. A new and uncontainable fire is coming that will change everything.
