Oceans in the Desert

Yesterday I had two separate instances where I experienced “injustice” touch my life. In both instances my heart began to beat harder and the effects of being the recipient of injustice touched my soul (emotions). I immediately began to pray the verse from Philippians 4:7 over my heart and mind,

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

This is my “go to” verse when something in life threatens to steal my peace. I have found that as I pray this verse that quickly His peace will come to guard my heart from wounding and my mind from racing. Then, in peace, I can place the injustices into His care and walk in His wisdom and grace. 

I had a dream last night where I saw Jesus come to me in my soul. It was as if my soul was a room or a place. Within this “soul-room” there was raw emotions, a sense of self and the winds of circumstances blowing. My heart was pounding but I cried out for His peace to guard my heart and mind. I could see another room that I knew was my spirit and I longed to go there but I didn’t know how to crossover to enter that room. Then I saw Jesus lay down and create a bridge for me to cross over into my “spirit-room“; where I knew peace awaited me. When I walked over Jesus to enter into my spirit Jesus was there waiting for me. He was both the bridge that I crossed over and the One who was present when I entered the room of my spirit. As I entered this room peace immediately flooded my entire being. My body, my soul and my spirit were flooded with peace and lightness. It was like I was floating in a place that injustice and storms could not touch. In this place Jesus took every need upon Himself and He took every thought captive, replacing them with absolute peace and lightness.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4-5‬ ‭

As I crossed over, allowing Jesus to be the bridge from my soul to my spirit, it was the spiritual weapon needed to demolish every thought that robbed peace. It crossed me over into yielding to His thoughts and ways. It put a stop to my thoughts and ways that had only human understanding and ways upon them.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

The one thing that I’ve learned as I’ve spent years walking in the prophetic, is that we all “see in part” and that in almost every instance of walking out prophetic words over my life that though the words were accurate, the path to get there and the manifestation of them was very different than I thought it would look. Had I tried to make a way to see them manifest and be fulfilled I would have done it much differently and the result would not have had the fruitfulness nor true fulfillment upon it. I would have muddled it severely. My ways are not His ways! 

I share this to remind you that whether you are facing an injustice, the need for breakthrough or pursuing a prophetic promise over your life, you must not allow your soul or mind to guide you. The winds of adversity in our souls and racing thoughts that accompany these winds will often lead us into the ways of man. But there is a way that is higher than ours and weapons of divine power that defeat every stronghold that seeks to steal our peace and put us upon paths that will take us to greater warfare. 

Jesus will be your crossover bridge into peace. Within the place of living out of your spirit you will find the peace of God, the wisdom of God and the light yoke that sets you free. From this place where His Spirit and your spirit move as one you will see His ways become your breakthrough and the path to the fulfillment of every promise. 

Pray Philippians 4:7 and watch Jesus be the bridge to cross you over into the place where His Spirit reigns.
