The body of Christ is in a tremendous time of breakthrough and beauty. Our Heavenly Father has been molding our hearts and lives to reflect the image of His Son. Like a master craftsman or artisan He has been overseeing every detail of the masterpiece that our lives are to display.
His hand has had His people upon the potter’s wheel to see the vessels that He desires created to express the beauty and function in the capacity that He created them for. This is a time to trust the Master Potter’s hand in your life. Though it can be a bit disorienting as the wheel spins and His hand molds and shapes; the process will assure that your life is a vessel that displays all that He desires.
“But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.”
Isaiah 64:8
In our home we have two sets of dishes; one is for everyday use and one is for when company comes or for special occasions. Both sets are of equal value to me because they serve two separate purposes. They both represent who we are as a family.
This is the same with the people of God. Some were created for everyday use and some where created for displaying something special. Both are of absolute importance and are valued by the Father equally. Though the vessels created for the special occasions cause the “wow” factor to be released, the vessels created for common use are what keeps the family together and functioning.
Romans 9:19-21
You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?” On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, “Why did you make me like this,” will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use?
If a father has two children and one is gifted with the voice of an angel and one is gifted with the ability to nurture and teach children, which one will the father love more? Of course the answer is that He will love them and honor them equally. Though one may have a gift that stands out in a crowd, the other one has the gift of seeing that crowd function as a family.
As every vessel allows our amazing Potter to create us and define the details of our identity according to His will and design, we will begin to function together to create a true home (resting place) and family for the Lord to enjoy. Jealousies, envy and divisions will cease as we recognize the need for every vessel and every gift to begin to function together. As we honor and make a place for all then we will truly be a family. We will also be the army that walks shoulder to shoulder without jostling one another (Joel 2:8).
It is time to know who you are and why you were created. All were created to bring Him pleasure but each functions different than another. If you try to function the way you see another function then you may not fill the place that He formed and created you to fulfill. This will leave a gap and absence of a vital need. Just like the human body’s many inward parts all work together for the good of the whole, so do the parts of the body of Christ.
I keep hearing the Lord say that as each one recognizes the beauty that He created them to display and the vital purpose that they were created for beginning to function, we will see every need met and even more than we can imagine possible come to ALL! Not only for one but for all.
Just yesterday I was having a conversation with someone that is a part of a church staff. They were saying how their staff has a few people who are “behind the scenes” people but these individuals literally cause all of the staff and the church family to function smoothly and in unity. He said, “Without them the whole thing would fall apart because it would be all vision with none of the critical pieces in place that cause the manifestation of the vision realized.”
As the “vessels of honor” (those in the forefront) and the “vessels of common use” work together in and fitting together, then the Lord is lifted high for all to see. It was never the purpose for any one man or woman to be lifted high but for all of His children to work together to see the Lord lifted high and given the honor that He deserves.
The Word says,
“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself…”
John 12:32
As we see Him lifted up men will be drawn to Him. We must honor and recognize the importance of all the vessels He has made by His hand so that together, we will see Jesus lifted up and the sons of man drawn into the family.
“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
Ephesians 4:16
As we function as a whole, fitting perfectly together, we will see all that we need and more than we can imagine come forth. We need one another…
