As I stopped this morning to wait on the Lord I immediately heard the verse from Psalm 46:4 that says,
“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.”
Yesterday I spent the day with a remnant of God’s people who worshipped on the steps of our State Capital (in Salem, Oregon) to see God receive all that He is due in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Throughout the day every time I heard the word “gladness” or “peace” my spirit would leap. I’d immediately feel a flood of gladness flow through my entire being. His presence would blow like a wind through me each time I’d hear either of these words sung or declared. Our Price of Peace makes our heart glad!
I became so aware of how happy God is and how He longs to flood our lives, families, cities and nations with His gladness. He began to share with me how the move of the Spirit that is even now beginning to course through my nation (and the nations) is like a river that will make glad the “city of God”. I knew that this was for His people near and far…all the way to Jerusalem!
This move of God (that I believe will have no end) will be marked by the goodness of God that brings peace and gladness to hearts of men. The depressed will be set free, the anxious will find peace and oppression will be washed away.
His presence will permeate individual lives as well as the atmosphere where they walk. His divine presence will change hearts and turn darkness to light in all of those who are touched by the river of His peace, love and joy.
As I stood on the capital steps in Salem, Oregon yesterday, decreeing that unity and abundant life would be released, I felt as though I was standing in two places at once; the capital in Salem, Oregon and the capital of Israel, Jerusalem. I felt a river of peace and gladness begin to flow. The overflow of His presence and dwelling place will flood the nations and make hearts glad once again.
Oregon is the only place that has a capital with the name “Salem”, which in Hebrew means “Peace”. It is the Biblical name of ancient city, Jerusalem. I experienced God come and cover us with His “dwelling place” or “tabernacle”. As this happened I could see in my spirit a tent or tabernacle being rolled out over regions and nations. I felt a rush of His presence, peace and gladness.
Floodgates are being opened that have been unlocked with the key of God’s people returning to the fear of the Lord. God is opening these floodgates and unblocking the dam so that He can flood the nations with the standard of the Lord.
“So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”
Many say that the emphasis on this verse should be that “when the enemy comes…God will rush in like a flood”! On our state capital building there is a beaver, the state animal. Each time I looked up and saw it, I would see a beaver dam collapsing and this river break through. The floodgates of His river are opening and the dams that have prevented a free flow are being removed.
Get ready to get glad! Peace and gladness will flow in the midst of a turbulent world and many will be drawn in.
