For those of us who live in the United States this has been a week of living in an atmosphere of chaos, hatred and divisions. The tragic events in Charlottesville were nothing short of demonic in nature and designed by the “god of this world” (Satan) to further his agenda to divide. He comes to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10) but in the midst of all of the bad reports within our nation and throughout the nations, there is another report that you need to hear.
It is vital in times of Earthly chaos to make sure that you are not dwelling on the bad reports but receiving the good report that God has. We must not be immerse ourselves in the media reports or the arguments on social media sites. Our victory is secured in Christ Jesus. It cannot be taken from us and His Kingdom cannot be shaken.
When the nations rage and shake we must posture our lives within the good news of our Savior and of His unshakable Kingdom where our true citizenship lies. We must listen to the voice of our true King that gives wisdom, understanding and brings peace in every storm. We do not fear the natural shaking because we live in the fear of the Lord and that is where wisdom begins.
Psalm 46 addresses the chaos of nations and the hope that we have in God,
“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it.
The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts! The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.”
Psalms 46:1-7
Did you hear that? The Lord of Heaven’s armies are here among us! He is not worried and He is not shaken by the chaos in the nations. His victory is secure and we are secure within His fortress. As we posture our lives within His victory we will also posture ourselves in His authority which enables His people to release His decrees and truth from Heaven to Earth.
It is important to know that the Earthly atmosphere around the world, especially in this season in the United States, has assignments of distraction, depression and division. The enemy seeks to see God’s people become distracted by what he is stirring on Earth so that they will become depressed and divided. He desires to see them leave the fortress of their Heavenly authority and alignment. He knows that God has been aligning and uniting His people and this has been moving us into a corporate authority that terrifies him.
We must remain in the fear of the Lord, not the fear of what the enemy is releasing. As we remain in peace and humility (as we remain in the fear of the Lord) we will see thrones that the prince of this world has erected begin to topple.
“He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble.”
Luke 1:50-52
We are not putting our heads in the sand by not focusing on the evil happening on Earth but rather we are positioning our lives with the true Head (Christ Jesus). From that place we can be effective in our prayers and decrees for mankind. We can call out for the depressed and divided to find refuge within the only true fortress of salvation.
Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. “They will be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.”
Malachi 3:16-17
Do not allow political spirits or views to divide spiritual sons and daughters. The other day I asked for prayer for our president and it caused a number of people to lash out at me in accusation regarding his leadership. Though I was not making a political statement but rather following the Spirit’s leading to ask for prayer, still some became enraged at the mere mention of his name. Whether we like a leader or not, agree or disagree with their leadership or character, it is our responsibility to pray and follow the leading of the Spirit in all that we do. If love is the issue then we must respond in love. We must remain united in prayer and in love.
“Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.”
Romans 13:10
We remain in the fear of the Lord when we remain in love and we remain in the fear of the Lord as we remain united in Christ. We all have one Savior and King and in Him there is no division.
Here is a wonderful description of the fear of the Lord,
“The fear of God is an attitude of respect, a response of reverence and wonder. It is the only appropriate response to our Creator and Redeemer” (Nelson’s NKJV Study Bible, 1997, note on Psalm 128:1).
Let us respond to our Creator and Redeemer rather than respond to the atmosphere and anger of creation. If distraction, depression or divisions have impacted your life then run back to the place of refuge and reverence where nothing has been shaken. He will wash you and restore you back to the place of wonder, victory and authority.
Let us agree in prayer that what the enemy has meant for evil will turn and bring many to Christ. May many be saved!
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.”
Genesis 50:20
