We know that as the sons and daughters of God, our Father will never leave us or forsake us. We also know that He is good…in all of His ways, in all of His dealings with us and in all of His plans for us.
“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.”
Psalms 18:30-32
HE is the one who makes your way perfect! He goes ahead of you and He will prove that His promises are true. As you put your trust in Him, His goodness will go ahead of you and prove true in your life.
I find myself declaring and repeating over and over,
“He is good, He is good and all of His ways are perfect!”
As the enemy shouts in the face of God’s people,
“Where is your God?”
My spirit is stirred and shouts again,
“He is good, He is good and all of His ways are perfect!”
We do not live by sight, nor by human understanding or wisdom. We live according to the truth of His Word.
The enemy is always attempting to trap us and manipulate us (tempt us) into acting according to his words rather than remaining faithful to the Word of God. The tactics of the enemy are not new, he used them to tempt Jesus in the wilderness,
“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.
During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ””
Matthew 4:1-4
“If you are the Son of God…” is a mocking statement that accompanied a provocation and temptation to appeal to the flesh. The devil knew that Jesus was the Son of God and he also knew that as a man, he was hungry from fasting. “Where is your God?” is also a mocking statement that often accompanies a provocation and temptation due a fleshly hunger for comfort or to satisfy a deep desire. The devil comes to tempt God’s people into doing something that would be contrary to what the Spirit has asked them to do.
The enemy fears the power of the Spirit that lives within you, he fears the authority you possess through the Word of God and he fears you walking in the perfect ways of God. All of these thing wreak havoc upon his plans to kill, steal and destroy, while releasing the good and abundant life that Jesus has given to you.
In Psalm 27 David declares his confidence in the truth that he will see the “goodness of God in the land of the living”,
“Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
Psalms 27:13-14
When your flesh is longing for relief from discomfort, when you are parched and hungry from what satisfies and when you are weary from the storms; declare with David these words from Psalm 27. Be brave and courageous and yes, be patient! You WILL see the goodness of the Lord while here in the land of the living.
All of His ways are good and all of His ways are perfect. He is good! Reject the shouts that say, “Where is your God?” and declare His goodness in the midst of your storm. Declare His perfect ways in the place where you long for comfort.
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms 27:14
I will finish this with one of the deepest prayers,
“The one thing I ask of the Lord — the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the Lord with music.”
Psalms 27:4-6
The goodness of God is found in His house and through delighting in Him all the days of our life.
