“I Was Sick and You Visited Me”

A Note From Kathi Pelton

My third time in the operating room in three weeks is finished and was successful. I am weak but so grateful— and I am resting comfortably.

I’m writing this at 3 am because the past month has caused my sleep schedule to be very disrupted with managing constant pain. Tonight I am resting mostly pain-free due to God and my amazing surgeon and his team. Three times in the OR in three weeks was a lot! I have been on a dozen prescriptions, so many antibiotics, pain meds, etc. so there’s a lot of replenishing to do. I still have a long process of getting my strength back and seeing my kidneys and body fully restored but to not be fighting through excruciating pain is such a gift.

I honestly can’t thank all of those people (near and far) who have helped us, reached out to us and prayed for me over the past month. My husband has tirelessly waited on me and served me day and night to help in any way (he’s tired too). Our kids have checked in constantly, showed up to help, and loved me so well. My friends have gone above and beyond to call, show up, even when it seemed like each day was another new crisis! And to so many of you who follow my writings— you have been amazing how you’ve sent notes, sent prayers and some of you sent gifts or financial support when we really have needed it (you have no idea what that meant to us— you have given back and that says so much).

It may be a couple weeks of rest before I’m back to my normal routine (and writing again) but I have felt the presence of the Lord through His people more than any other way. When some of you stand before the Lord one day and He quotes Matthew 25:35-40 to you and you think, “When did I visit the sick?” He will show you this time— even if it was a note or a gift or whatever you did— you have been Jesus to me. Thank you 🥹♥️.

35 ‘I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, 36 I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’

37 Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’

40 And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

Matthew 25:35-40

  4. this blesses my heart to hear!! I’m praying God that you are no longer in pain. And continuing to pray for your recovery as you find rest in the love of Jesus and His peace to flood your heart soul and body. Healing in your body from the traumas of surgery.
Sending hugs 🤗 and love ❤️ to you and your family. And praying your husband find rest and for God to pour out a refreshing and restoration soul and body for you both. 🙏
