SAVE THE DATE

By Kathi Pelton

This morning my husband handed me a “Save the Date” card from a local couple that will be getting married soon. I immediately got my phone out and put the date in my calendar with joy and anticipation.

As I continued with my morning the words, “Save the Date” kept going through my mind. I finally stopped to inquire of the Lord if this was his voice.

“Lord, if this is you, what are you meaning by ‘save the date’?”

Then I heard his Spirit say,

“With me, everyday is a ‘Save the Date’ day. If you will joyfully anticipate each day as a day that I have ordained then you will make room for blessings beyond your wildest dreams!”

Wow!

Today is a rainy Monday and normally I’d have no “joyful anticipation” for this day beyond visiting my granddaughter (which always brings me joy). The day is filled with to-do lists like steaming our floors, cleaning the house, doing laundry and a weekly prayer call.

BUT— today I will “save the date” with joyful anticipation of experiencing something more— something not on my list— something that the Lord had ordained for me this day.

Let’s begin to think differently about each new day!

“This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
