“Him will he instruct in the way he should choose.” Psalm 25:12
Who will he instruct?
“The man who fears the Lord.”
The fear of the Lord is returning to the Church— and with that will come wisdom, power, understanding, awe and prosperity.
What is the fear of the Lord for the believer?
It is awe and reverence for God.
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire.’”Hebrews 12:28-29
The fear of the Lord is returning to our worship! Not just our songs but the worship of our lives. He is consuming every other thing that has vied for our attention and affection. The Lord has snapped his plum line and is aligning his people with the fear of the Lord.
This is part of seeing him instruct us in the way we should choose. What we should choose FIRST is to ask for the fear of the Lord to return to our lives, our families, our churches and our nations.
Wisdom is birthed in awe and reverence of God!
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.” Proverbs 1:7
We must understand this truth. We must begin to accept that our understanding apart from the fear of the Lord is severely lacking— and will never align to his plum line.
As humans we often struggle with unspoken thoughts of not being enough or of thinking that we just aren’t gifted enough or capable enough to accomplish what needs to be done. But we can put that struggle to rest by agreeing with our “weakness” and asking for the fear of the Lord to come upon us as a consuming fire and burn away self-reliance and replacing it with awe and reverence of him.
“And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name. He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.” Deuteronomy 10:12, 20-21
Remember— the fear of the Lord releases instruction, wisdom, understanding and prosperity.
“Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.” Psalm 112:1-3
The fear of the Lord releases a generational blessing!
Awe begets awe— reverence begets reverence— wisdom begets confidence in the Lord!
“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence” Proverbs 14:26
We do not have to live in the insecurities that self-reliance provide because we can be confident (strongly confident) in the fear of the Lord. It will lead us (he will lead us) and instruct us in how we are to walk, live, and what we are to choose.
The answer is not and never has been in the one who is most gifted, most equipped, most talented or the most capable— it is in the complete and total dependency and reverence in the fear of the Lord.
The fear of the LORD leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm. Proverbs 19:23
… but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Psalm 147:11
You will have rest, be satisfied, be protected, be happy, be hopeful and be blessed with his steadfast love!
His instruction to you…
“…fear the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, love him, serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 10:12
