God Is Showing Up In Spiritual Conversations and Fellowship. And…He Is Moving In Powerful Ways!

By Kathi Pelton

Over the past month I have noticed something that I now see reoccurring more and more. I will be engaged in fellowship with other believers and we will begin having what I call, “spiritual conversations”.  We will be talking about what God has done for us and what we are asking him to do in a current situation. Or we will find ourselves exhorting one another and building one another up in Christ. Often these conversations are preludes to gathering to pray but sometimes they are just conversations between friends.

Numerous times in the recent past within a day or two following one of these conversations— the very thing that we discussed and shared about will come to pass! An answer will come miraculously. I’ve also noticed that as we enter into these spiritual conversations and fellowship that we become very aware of the presence of the Lord among us. It is as if the Lord has come to converse with us and our conversations and love for one another are releasing prayers and declaration that are quickly answered.

We have witnessed this within fellowship with friends, with family and in conversations with our ministry teams. God is showing up and hearing our words as prayers even when we are not formally praying.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them” Matthew 18:20

As we gather together with a friend or a group of friends that all walk with God— HE IS THERE AMONG US!

This has always been true but we normally associate this verse in Matthew specifically with prayer. Something is occurring that is different than in other times— and it is the weight of our words, the anointing that is poured out in fellowship and the power that comes when we gather together “in his name.” These holy conversations are releasing power and prayers— and bringing forth answers because God is there among his people.

With this wonderful gift also comes a sober warning,

“Watch your words and your conversations carefully!”

Guard your words, guard your fellowship and guard your hearts.

It is interesting to note that on the Hebrew calendar we are in the decade of “Pey” or Peh (5780-5789). Pey is  the Hebrew letter representing the number 80. Pey means “mouth” and symbolizes prophetically a decade that is focused on speaking, declaring, and decreeing. It also signifies a time for vocalizing promises, prayers and establishing God’s kingdom.

Our words have weight and our words with other believers have the power to bring forth change and promises fulfilled.

In 2 Corinthians Paul ends the writings of that book with these words,

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭14‬ ‭

“The fellowship with the Holy Spirit…”

Though we have that in our private and personal times of prayer— we are encountering the fellowship of the Holy Spirit happening in our fellowship with one another as well. And our words are being heard by heaven— and the words that are aligned with God’s will are coming to pass.

The other wonderful thing that is happening in these spiritual conversations is that as God’s presence comes and rests upon them with a greater love and unity than ever before.

We recently were on a monthly prayer call that we have with dear friends. We had not been able to have our monthly call for the past two months due to difficulties in scheduling. But on our call in March we found ourselves catching up and sharing our hearts with one another in such a deep, tender and vulnerable way. As we all shared the Spirit of the Lord was so present that we all began to experience peace, unity, oneness and healing on a level that we had not previously experienced. We had not even begun praying but we became aware that the Lord was in our midst and that every words was heard as prayer. It was so very beautiful.

This kind of interaction is taking place more and more as the days go on. And there is a blessing and anointing poured out upon our times together.

“How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony refreshing as the dew of Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.” Psalm 133:1-3

Yet, it also explains why there is such demonic power being released by those who are engaging in negative conversations, gossip and accusations (I’m not referring to exposures of sin but we should be careful about how we engage with those situations as well— especially when we are not directly involved).

“May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭9‬

The God of peace is in our conversations that are fixed on these things! He is showing up and bringing peace to anxious hearts and answers to the longings of our hearts.

I love the verse in Hebrews 10 that says,

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭

God has set a table for His people— a table where we dine on the riches of fellowship with one another. Where we motivate one another to acts of love and good works— face to face. Where we meet together, encourage each other and together we meet with God.

The day of his return is drawing near so this is especially important now! I am not talking about just sitting in a pew and listening to one person speak but of gathering face to face, around a table that the Lord has set, and watching how he comes to revive one another and answer the needs shared.

Our God is in the midst of conversations and fellowship! And he is changing lives as we come together.

Acts 2:42-47 says, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Maybe we are entering into days like the days of Acts once again!
