Last night I found myself longing to be able to sit face to face with God. I wanted to be able to have a long and intimate conversation with Him. I had so many questions about His will, His ways and how to get there. I wanted to look into His eyes and to hear His audible voice answering all of my questions and calming all of my concerns. As I sat alone; longing, I heard the words, “Kathi, you can come ‘Faith to Face’ with Me any time that you want.”
Faith is the bridge between the natural and the spiritual. My natural senses demand physical evidence but my spiritual senses embrace spiritual truth. God is always closer than anyone will ever be to me. He loves it when I let faith bring me face to face with Him. He loves my questions, my dependency, my longings and my faith.
James 1:5 says this,
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Do I believe in His promises? Do I truly believe that He gives generously to me when I lack wisdom? Some days I feel as if I only have questions. He promises that if I lack wisdom, that I should ask and He will give it to me. But to ask, I must first let faith take me face to face with Him. Solomon asked for wisdom rather then wealth, honor, revenge or possession and God was so please that He gave him wisdom and all of those things that he didn’t ask for.
2 Chronicles 1: 7-11
7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
8 Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
11 God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.”
In my previous blog I shared about how the Holy Spirit has been inviting us to “Come away with Him”. How do we come away with Him? It is through faith. We are saved by grace but must access it through faith. Do you long to see His face and converse with Him? Do you have more questions than answers? Allow faith to take you to that place of face to face intimacy with Him. I encourage you to re-read my blog, “Spring’s Invitation- Arise!” then begin to, in faith, accept that invitation.
