A Baptism of Fire Will Fall and Change Lives and Nations

By Kathi Pelton

This morning at 3 am I woke up with intercession in my mouth for someone that I have not seen in over a decade. I was immediately taken into a vision of the fire of the Holy Spirit being poured into him and baptizing him anew. This fire consumed him, refined him, purified him and awakened him to such a degree that it transformed every area of his life. Joy consumed him so much that it caused everyone around him to receive the overflow.

As the vision of this man continued and the intercession poured out of me, it shifted from this one individual to seeing this happen upon person after person that I know. Some of the people that I saw have been existing with barely an ember of what they once had for the Lord or a spark of what they could have but never has sparked into flame. But this fire came with a wind that fanned the burning embers and the sparked into flame these people’s lives. It baptized every part of them with a consuming love and passion for God. They were set ablaze and transformed to the point that all who knew them were talking about their transformation. This fire was also accompanied by great joy and by favor for success and influence.

As I continued seeing this and interceding in the spirit— suddenly I was taken to see the mass crowds in Afghanistan. As I looked I saw the fire of the Holy Spirit fall upon a man and it ignited him with great joy (and all fear fell away). He began to shout and worship and the fire that was upon him ignited the person next to him and then they ignited another and still another. It was like dry kindling that had been doused with the fuel of desperation and cries for help. The answer came in the form of fire from heaven that revealed Jesus as Savior. People began dancing in the streets without fear for their lives because they were not only baptized by fire but great joy filled their hearts. All they could see was Jesus and they did not fear the Taliban or even losing their lives. The joy of salvation consumed them.

Then I saw massive angelic armies being revealed to the Taliban and those who would seek to harm them. These enemies became so terrified that they turned on one another. It was like watching Gideon’s army as they defeated the mighty Midianites with a shout, a broken jar and a torch of light. The fire that was upon those who were being baptized by the Holy Spirit was like the breaking of the jars to reveal the torches in the story of Gideon’s army (Judges 7).

As I experienced this, it did not feel like merely a vision but a prophesy and a coming reality. The joy that filled my heart and spirit during this time was overwhelming. It was most definitely marked by fire and joy! The joy seemed to remove all fear and despair that had touched these lives. Grieving was replaced by uncontainable joy.

Let’s agree in prayer for a baptism of fire to ignite our loved ones, our friends, the lost and those who have been persecuted. Let us also agree that this fire falls upon those who stand like Saul to bring persecution upon the saints.

“God, send your fire!”

“John answered their questions by saying, “I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.” Luke‬ ‭3:16‬
