Note from Kathi Pelton— my son-in-law wrote this last year and it is so applicable to what God is doing in so many of us. Be blessed—
Forgive me, I’m a car guy— so I will use the example of a car to explain what I see going on with many people at this time.
When your car overheats, you know you have a problem. Without diagnosis, you don’t know what is broken to fix it. One of the steps of diagnosis is called a pressure test; allowing the system to be “overwhelmed by pressure” in order to figure out what component is failing. Only then can you make your assessment regarding what is wrong, what repairs are needed and begin to move forward.
God has allowed me to experience blowouts (spiritual and emotional overheating) at different times in my life to 1) know there was a problem that needed attention and 2) diagnose- build pressure (hardships) to reveal what was broken.
These are the things we often perceive as failures. Building pressure in the system isn’t a failure. In fact, it’s necessary before a repair or life change can happen.
God builds us up in our hardest times, using hardships to weed out the false beliefs and things that unknowingly hurt our connection with Him. In my case the misalignment was that it was up to “me” to make a change and that I had to find the solution to our problems. Alignment was surrender.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT
