A Vision of Inside-Out Garments

By Kathi Pelton

Last night I was worshiping with our local team here in Portland, Oregon when I was taken into a vision. In this vision I saw Jesus wearing a garment (a shirt) that was inside/out. This shirt that he was wearing was us— his people. We were what people saw when He was presented before the church and before the world (and even the powers and principalities of darkness). In this vision, he looked down at this shirt and saw that it was inside out so He took us off and He turned it around. When he turned the garment the proper way, all I saw was His righteousness and love. I also realized that now we had become hidden and positioned against His chest (his heart).

As He turned this garment around—where we were now on the inside of it and I immediately heard the verse from Psalm 91,

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Psalms‬ ‭91:4‬ ‭

He is our shield and rampart (defensive wall). We are hidden under His wing and against His heart. As we are turned around, we find refuge from storms and the arrows, the plagues or the pestilence sent to terrify us.

“You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” Psalms‬ ‭91:5-6‬ ‭

The turning of this garment will prevent us from being wrongly exposed and uncovered.

I also saw that as Jesus turned this garment and we were against his chest, a new level of intimacy and nearness to His heart came upon us. We were created to live in the hidden refuge of intimacy. This is a Psalm 91 repositioning.

His righteous is to be covering us— not our works and reputation covering Him. It is His righteous, His identity, His purity and His love that is to be revealed. Yet somehow things have been inside out and Jesus has been viewed through us— not us through Him. When the world looks at the Church they must see Jesus! They need have the perfect One that came and paid the debt for all mankind revealed to them. They need to see that we too are imperfect humans that have now been covered by the righteousness of a perfect Savior— a Savior who is offering agape (unconditional) love. We are merely the recipients of His grace and love— and He has become our refuge and our eternal hope.

The enemy has put great pressure on God’s people to cause us to strive and come under a “savior complex” that causes us to try to present our strengths and our gifts to a world that desperately needs our humble King. Any heavy yoke of striving merely hides the grace that has saved us. We can, like the Apostle Paul, boast in our weakness so that Christ may be revealed in all of his power and majesty. Christ is our garment, our covering and the He is to be presented to the world as our refuge, shield and intimate Bridegroom.

There is a turnaround that is happening and this is just one aspect of the turning that is presently occurring.

So we yield and say, “Be it unto me according to Your Word. Turn all that is inside out around!”
