May I Have This Dance?

By Kathi Pelton

There are few things as precious as those moments when a father and daughter dance together. When our daughter, Amy was little, it was her favorite thing to have her daddy pick her up, turn on their favorite song and dance together. She had to do nothing but enjoy the dance of being carried and loved.

Today “Daddy-God” is asking His daughter’s if He may have this dance. He sees the longing for nearness in your eyes and the desire to be carried. Even as you’ve grown you have not become too mature to outgrow the precious “daddy/daughter”dances.

Your Heavenly Father is reaching out to lift you up into His arms and carry you into a dance that will refresh you with intimacy, tenderness and a depth of love that you’ve been aching for.

As He picks you up all of the burdens that you’ve picked up will fall away. He will not only carry you in this dance but he will restore you to the knowledge and experience of His care. You were never meant to carry a heavy load or to be too old to be a daughter.

Well-loved daughters live in peace and joy. They know that they are protected and nurtured with absolute adoration. They don’t worry because they know that their daddy is watchful and never misses a step in protecting them.

You are a well-loved daughter! Your Father’s adoration for you both clothes you and crowns you with perfect love. This dance will remind you of who you are; His daughter, His princess and His greatest prize.

Today He is asking you,

“Daughter, may I have this dance?”
