The noise of the “kings of this earth” conspiring against the Lord and his people is louder than ever. It is keeping people awake at night and declaring defeat like a clanging cymbal. But— we are not to tune our ears into the sounds of earth! We are to align our hearing to the sound of heaven and the sound of the voice of our God. The sound of victory rings clear as it is wrapped in his agape love.
As I tuned my spiritual ears into the voice of heaven, this is what I heard,
“The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.” Psalms 2:4
He was laughing because HE KNOWS THE END FROM THE BEGINNING! He is enthroned above all other rulers, powers and authority. He has established victory on behalf of the saints and he holds the future of all things in his hands. You have no defeat in Christ— only victory. Throw off every agreement, belief and thought of defeat. Look up! Salvation and victory is yours.
Though the enemy makes noise and creates chaos— the Prince of Peace, who is the commander of angelic armies, can silence him with a mere whisper. He is commanding angelic armies to fight for the saints. He is the restorer of your peace, he is the help in your trouble, he is the healer of your body and he is the answer to every problem that you are facing.
He laughs because he is completely in control. NO, HE HAS NOT LOST CONTROL! He knows what is happening and nothing is hidden from him or gets past him.
Here is Psalm 2:4 in context of the other verses:
“Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” Psalms 2:1-12
We find our refuge and hope in the Son! And we celebrate his rule with awe and trembling. We ask for the nations and the ends of the earth as our possession. We “kiss the Son” in allegiance and dependency— in hope and trust in the Lord alone.
If you have been downcast and aligning your soul with defeat— shake it off and ask our wonderful Holy Spirit to realign your faith and your expectancy with the hope that does not disappoint. Speak truth and victory into the battle that you are facing. Declare his faithfulness over the troubles that have stolen your peace and ask that the peace of Christ once again is allowed to guard your heart and mind. If you need to repent for unbelief and hopelessness— do so now. Align your words with his Word and your prayers with the confident hope that does not disappoint. Close every door that has dread and defeat behind it and open the door of hope once again. Be found in the refuge of his faithfulness.
God is laughing— not at your pain or your battle— but at those who believe they are more powerful then him. The enemy has been defeated and victory has been secured for all those in Christ. It’s time to laugh with him!
