The Response That Conceives Your Miracle

By Kathi Pelton

We are all familiar with the Biblical account of when the angel of the Lord visited Mary announcing that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her and she would conceive a son— the Son of God. She was betrothed to Joseph and knew that neither he nor her family nor her community would believe that a young virgin could be with child. Yet, she responded with one sentence that changed the course of history and allowed a miracle to be conceived. Those words were,

“Be it unto me according to your word.”

These words are remain the segue that is spoken by many believers around the world. They are the words of those who are willing to be history makers and birth the purposes of God in a world that may not understand what they are carrying. They are the ones who have trusted God when he asked them to do something, go somewhere or yield to something that they did not understand at the moment it was asked. And in their “Be it unto me…” posture— they conceive a miracle.

Just like with Mary, the Father asks each one of his sons and daughters to carry his Son within their hearts and to birth his purposes through our yielded yes. Our willing response causes each of us to conceive a miracle that will change our lives and the lives of others.

There are often times in our lives that the miracle or breakthrough that we so desperately need is just waiting for our willing response— a response that lays down what we thought our path forward would look like and yields to God’s plans for our furture. Sometimes we receive an invitation to say yes without any explanation or details of what is ahead— but that is the life of faith and trust. Miracles happen through yielded vessels that don’t have to understand the path ahead— they merely need to know the One who is inviting them to walk upon the path that he has prepared for them.

Mary’s response to the Angel of the Lord was a cue card for every person who would ever walk with the Son that she carried. We can mimic the response that of a humble and wise girl that said, “Be it unto me according to your word.”

Today you may be in need of the Holy Spirit to come upon you and overshadowing you so that you will conceive a miracle— it is “Christ in you” that will bring forth all that he has for you. He has good for you. He has a future and a hope for you. He has abundant life for you. He will birth the extraordinary through the ordinary yielded vessels…and that is YOU! What will your response be?

Though Mary had an undeniable visitation from the Angel of the Lord, you may be unaware of the angels that are with you at this very moment to bring you a message from heaven— but believe me— they are with you and are carry invitations to live a life marked by miracles, signs and wonders. You may be ordinary, but your “be it unto me” response will transform your life into the extraordinary. May your daily response to the Lord be the same as Mary’s was over 2000 years ago.

“And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭38‬ ‭
