A Baptism of Love

By Kathi Pelton

Since February 14th represents a day that symbolizes love— let’s remember that everyday in the life of a believer should represent and be a symbol of love— God’s love.

“If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭

Anything done— apart from love is wasted. Even truth must be revealed and covered in love or it merely becomes a sword that cuts and separates relationships. Gifts are just noisy instruments when they are operating apart from love. Even sacrifice, that is done apart from love, is merely works poured out on the ground— wasted. Love is like the perfume poured over the feet of Jesus from the broken alabaster jar. It is a costly sacrifice of a lovesick person who does not even notice the cost. And it’s fragrance permeates the atmosphere.

We ask that as revival comes it would burn away everything that is offered apart from love. May His love come like a fire that consumes all that separates us from His love for us and His love for others. May He revive us to love again and to speak the language of love, prophesy from a place of love, gain knowledge that is wrapped in love and exercise faith (and power) that flows from the purity of the love for others.

We must represent the love of God to a world that has been offended with God because of so many words and actions done apart from love. Today, ask for a baptism of love to come upon you— to saturate you and to permeate you for those around you. May a holy reset come that raises up a generation of lovers. Not lovers of self but lovers of God and lovers of those He died for.

Baptize us with Your love God!

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭7‬
