Oceans in the Desert

Yesterday, during the worship time at our Sunday service, the front of the church filled with young men and women who were filled with great joy. One young man, who none of us knew, began to jump, dance and shout with a true unrestrained joy. I was worshipping right next to him and what he was releasing was a radical joy that was contagious. He wasn’t doing it for show— he just could not contain his joy.

As he continued to jump and dance, I began to remember how I felt when I was delivered from darkness into the light and love of Jesus as a teenager. Everything in me wanted to dance and shout like this young man was doing. The joy of being brought from death to life could not be contained and I’d find myself laughing and crying at the same time because it was like living in the best dream anyone could have.

Then I heard the Lord say,

“Get ready for the unrestrained and contagious joy to return to My church. For those who have been slaves to darkness will be set free and those who have been dead in sin will come back to life as they encounter My love. They will not be able to contain their joy and gratitude as they see the light and experience the washing of My blood. Do not restrain them or silence them for they will revive joy in My house once again.”

I saw in my spirit people running to the altar to be saved, healed and set free. I saw what looked like a new Jesus revolution but rather than it being mostly hippies with bare feet it will be every sort of person— those tattooed with demonic symbols, those with colorful hair, the college students, the elderly and even the very young— and together they will dance for joy as they experience freedom and light. They will be united in the joy of their salvation.

Celebration is coming! I see our Heavenly Father looking down the road for the sons and daughters who are getting ready to come home. The joy and anticipation on his face is undeniable— He is ready to celebrate their salvation— to put rings on their fingers, robes on their backs and to kill the fatted calf and invite all to celebrate with him. I see invitations to His sons and daughters to get ready to celebrate with Him.

Remember that celebrations are rarely orderly, quiet, or controlled because true joy should not be contained or held back. The family of God is about to get much bigger and joy will mark this move of God

“How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How joyful is the man the Lord does not charge with sun and in whose spirit is no deceit!” Psalm 32:1-2
