An Unexpected Miracle: Cancer Healed

Only God!

My husband, Jeff and I were just recently telling this miraculous story to someone because we have a dear friend who is walking through a terminal cancer diagnosis. We are reminding ourselves of how faithful God is— even when you least expect it.

This happened a number of years ago but it is worth retelling because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

We DO NOT take any credit for this healing miracle but continue to stand in absolute AWE that God used us as vessels to “go and pray.”

We did not know the couple, Laurie or Scott, at that time but I saw her post on FB one day about their need for a miracle and so we felt to go to her husband’s hospital room and pray for him. We took our youngest daughter and her husband and went to a strangers hospital room to pray for a miracle.

While we were in his room praying, there was no tangible power displayed in our prayers— just love and simple obedience to follow His leading. But in our simple act of hope and faith and in their act of allowing strangers to come and pray— Scott was miraculously healed.

My husband Scott began having a sore throat and as a truck driver we had trouble getting regular health care. He also developed a swelling in his neck. I sent him to the urgent care facility and the doctor diagnosed him with an infected salivary gland and gave him antibiotics. Scott thought it improved a little but a few weeks later his throat was still sore, so I sent him to the walk in clinic.

Immediately the attending doctor ordered a cat scan and a large tumor was found.

Scott had cancer in his tongue, tonsil, neck, throat and all of the lymph nodes were involved. It was stage 4; the worst possible diagnosis.

There was talk that they might have to remove his tongue and he would have to be on a feeding tube for the rest of his life. So, we began to pray. We began to decree the Word of God on Scott’s behalf and we decreed the outcome. Friends all over the world issued decrees for his healing.

Many tests were done, and then treatment began; radiation and chemo was scheduled every 21 days. The feeding tube was put in and our finances were drained out.

During his treatment Scott developed an infection that required hospitalization. It was at that time that Kathi Pelton saw my post about Scott. We were strangers but they offered to come to the hospital and pray for Scott. She came with her husband Jeffrey and some of their family (Luke & Amy).

The Word they gave was, “There will be no recurrences of this cancer.”

God healed him that day and he remains healed today. We accepted the fact that he did have cancer (and believe me… I was very afraid) but we did not accept the doctor’s devastating diagnosis as the final report.

We did what had to be done to eradicate the cancer, but we surrendered the situation and placed it under God’s authority— trusting God to perform His Word on Scott’s behalf.

God provided in every way. Scott is alive, he did not need his tongue to be removed, and he is well and we are grateful to God!

I am resharing this story and testimony because God still heals and he does it through His Spirit at work in and through his people.

We shouldn’t have been surprised at the miracle that occurred but we were and still are. I guess we always thought we’d only hear of these kind of miracles, not get to witness one. But we did.

Don’t hesitate to go where God sends you to allow his Spirit to move and save. All we did was to sacrifice an hour on a Sunday afternoon to go— God did the rest.

So GO, PRAY and WITNESS THE GOD OF MIRACLES.
