My husband and I have been on a journey of faith since our first year of marriage. Eleven months into marriage God asked us to move across the country to prepare for the work that he would call us to do. Since that first act of faith— then throughout our 40+ years of marriage— God has continually spoken a word to us and then confirmed it in the most miraculous ways.
Of course his word would have been enough but in his love and compassion for our humanity, he has always confirmed what we believed we were hearing through multiple confirmations. We have learned to watch for these things because there hasn’t been a single instance that he hasn’t confirmed his word.
He will do that for you as well.
I will give you a few examples of his confirmations that have taken place for us.
I remember one moment so keenly because it was in a time of needing clarity in a situation that appeared impossible and yet both my husband and I were certain that we had heard from the Lord. I won’t go into the whole story but we were walking through a number of years of infertility when we received news of a baby girl that was born to a fifteen year old. The birth mother had heard about us through a pastor and desired that her baby be adopted to us. In the very moment that I heard about her, the Lord spoke to me and said this,
“She will be a special delivery from my heart to your arms.”
My husband did not know about her yet but at the exact moment that I heard those words, he was hearing very similar words and wasn’t sure why. Then after a month of joy and excitement the whole situation turned when this baby girl became a ward of the state and the decision was no longer the birth mother’s to make. Any chance (in the natural) of us being able to adopt her had just hit a legal wall of impossibility. But both my husband and I couldn’t shake the fact that we had clearly heard from the Lord that she was our daughter and he would deliver her to us in a special way.
The day after getting the news that she was now a ward of the state, we decided to go on a drive together to pray and to calm our hearts. So we got in our car and began driving and praying. I said to the Lord, “I believe that I heard your voice— but now another voice has said, ‘It’s impossible.’ Please speak to us again.” The moment I finished saying those words we pulled up to a red light and the car in front of us had a large bumper sticker that said this, “
“ADOPTED Into God’s Family”
Jeff and I both saw it at the same time and burst into tears. We KNEW that God was confirming that he had spoken to us about adopting her.
It took nine months of extreme acts of faith— but God did what he said and we adopted her!
Another instance is when we felt as though the Lord had just spoken that he was sending us to Washington DC to live for a season. It seemed crazy and once again— impossible!
The day after I heard this I walked into a church that I was visiting in another city and a lady recognized me. She walked up to me and said, “I had a dream about you last night. In the dream you were in Washington DC and God was saying, ‘Washington DC needs you.’”
I hadn’t told anyone what I had heard the day prior and the Lord was already confirming what he had spoken.
Those are just two examples of the way God confirms his word. I literally have hundreds more. If the Lord has spoke a word to you— even a word that would need a miracle to come to pass— he will confirm that word. Ask him for confirmation and your loving Father will gladly bring you what you need to strengthen and encourage you as you move forward.
My husband and I are in one of those moments of “hearing and obeying” once again and I am absolutely amazed at the almost daily confirmations that we are receiving.
This is part of the fulfillment of how man makes his plans but the Lord orders his steps. The confirmations are part of the Lord ordering your steps forward. It doesn’t always look like what we expect but it always fulfills his will.
Today ask God for the supernatural confirmations that your soul needs to have the courage to move forward. And remember, if a son asks his father for a fish, will he give him a snake? No he will not— of a matter of fact he will most likely give him more than just a fish. So ask!
What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? Luke 11:11

Thank you for all who have supported us through this time. As most of you know, my husband had a grand mal seizure on Father’s Day and stopped breathing. Our son is an EMT and was with him when it happened— probably saving his life.
He is still going through tests to determine the cause and cannot drive or travel at this time.
Again, thank you for your prayers and your support at this difficult time.
