Lean Back
Kathi Pelton
Last night was our final night at our church here in Portland, Oregon. It was what we call our “Dwell” night. Dwell is a night of corporate and intimate worship in our prayer room.
As we spent the evening dwelling together in his presence— it was so comforting and beautiful as I was able to remember that no matter where we go and no matter what happens in the days ahead— his presence (our dwelling place) goes with us. As I worshiped with many of my dearest friends, one last time, I was reminded that no matter the distance— we remain one in his Spirit.
The final song of the night was one that is especially precious to me. It is called, “Lean Back”— here are some of the lyrics,
I will lean back in the loving arms of a beautiful Father
Breathe deep and know that He is good
He’s a love like no other
If you are in a time of transition (like us as we move to another state) or; just in a personal state of change or uncertainty, there is one place that never changes and is always available: the arms of our beautiful Father.
There you will find love, comfort, peace, assurance, confidence and hope. In his arms you can take a deep breath and remember that all of his goodness belongs to you. You can just lean back and enter into the rest of a loved child.
“Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul; Like a weaned child [resting] with his mother, My soul is like a weaned child within me [composed and freed from discontent].” Psalm 131:2 AMP
In the Father’s arms we are calmed and quieted even amidst the unknown. We find contentment and assurance of being loved, protected and filled with every good thing that we will ever need. Our souls find peace from the human fears and the physical weariness that life can bring.
So, lean back and be renewed by a love like no others!

In just one week our family is moving to California.
After twelve years in Oregon the Lord has called us to return to our home state— both to care for my husband’s aging father and to care spiritually for the state that carries such significance in our nation.
If it is in your heart to do— please consider sowing into our family’s and ministry’s move. California is very expensive; as is this move.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Our Finding Home podcast has new episodes available to listen to.
We are getting such wonderful feedback from the hundreds of listeners that follow us.
