Today, as many enjoy a day off to celebrate Labor Day (a day to celebrate the achievements of our hard work), God wants to invite us to enter into a rest that will remain for more than just one day.
The rest that the Lord offers is a rest from our own striving. His rest allows us to achieve more than we could ever imagine but rather than by our strength, by His strength. This does not mean that we will not work hard but we will work hard with our souls at rest. We rest so that we can yield to His wisdom, His counsel, His power and His favor.
He is inviting us to cease from living in our anxious thoughts and stress-driven ways to a place of trust and faith in moving as His Spirit leads and directs only. His ways are perfect and they bring rest to our souls and peace from our striving.
Wherever you find yourself in anxiety and striving today, go and lay it at the feet of Jesus where He will remove the yoke from you and replace it with His rest and easy yoke.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
Return to trust and return to rest. Cease striving and know that He is God and He will accomplish all that needs to be done in your life as you enter into His rest. His ways are not our ways; if you are taking matters into your own hands because of fear or looking at natural circumstances then you will leave the place of rest and enter into striving. You will begin to trust your ways and your wisdom over His promises and His power to make a way for your miracle. His ways may seem foolish to your mind or to the world but they will accomplish more than anything that your striving or natural wisdom can do for you.
Seek first Him and His Kingdom and everything else will be added to you. His Kingdom is at rest. Did you have to strive to make the sun rise this morning? No, God is the One who holds everything in place. If He can hold the Universe in His hands do you not believe that He will hold your life and your concerns in His hands? Only do what He asks you to do and do it in rest.
Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
On this Labor Day make it a new day to enter into His rest.
