Speed Bumps

Life is filled with unexpected speed bumps. It’s so shocking when you are cruising along, enjoying the smooth ride and then suddenly (without warning) a speed bump presents itself before you causing you to slam on life’s brakes and slow down, or face the impending and jarring bump when you take it too fast.

Whether you had to brake hard or feel the slam of the bump it can give you a sense of whiplash. In those moments, that seem to hit our lives all too often, adrenaline floods our souls and leaves us questioning what just happened. It is then that we must run to the Father who is the restorer of our peace and healer of our soul. We must rely on the Spirit who gives us wisdom of how to proceed. We must call on Jesus, who helps us to overcome all that the world throws our way…because He overcame all!

Some speed bumps are temporary set backs and some are a moment that reroute our entire lives. Pay attention to these moments so that you know if you are to merely proceed on the path ahead or if the Spirit is rerouting you to a new path.

The one thing to remember is that your Father is good in every season, every circumstance and in the face of every obstacle. When you face these moments find Papa’s lap and get really close. He will cover you, speak to you and direct you in the way you should go. Do not back up, reverse or change your course due to fear, but let the momentary fear usher you to the Prince of Peace who will restore you and put you upon the path that He has set for you.

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
