Last week when I went onto Facebook and saw my news feed filled with photos of The White House lit up with the colors of the rainbow; instead of feeling indignation my spirit began to leap with joy. Why? Because the Spirit of God quickly spoke to me saying,
“I am sending a message to my righteous ones throughout The United States. Tell them that My promises are being renewed in your nation, in your government and you will not be destroyed.”
I understand that it was man that lit up The White House in celebration of the Supreme Court ruling that redefined marriage in our land but the Lord was very clear with me that He allowed it to send a beautiful message to His people that He has not forgotten His covenant with mankind. We know that no man can truly redefine the true covenant of marriage or of the true symbol of the rainbow. He created both and they belong to Him.
I hear Him speaking His promise loud and clear over The United States. Just as in the days of Noah when God sent a rainbow as a covenant promise of life, He is sending The United States a covenant promise that He will not destroy our nation but is about to send a “flood of life” across the land that will raise those who are spiritually dead and purify the land.
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
A flood that destroys all living creatures will never again come but a flood of God’s love and truth is coming to our nation. Truth cannot be redefined and God cannot be redefined. We are not to be shaken or shocked by the things that we see on Earth. These are not new things, God is not taken by surprise or dismayed.
When Jesus came to Earth over 2000 years ago the government was wicked beyond anything we have seen and yet He dealt the harshest with the religious people of the day. They opposed truth more than any others. We must be careful in this hour not to be modern day Pharisees. The Pharisees had memorized the written truth but did not understand the spirit of truth that was displayed through the life of Jesus.
Jesus came for the sick and the sinner and He loved them well. He spoke truth in love. The Pharisees recited truth but in a spirit of hate. They demanded that Jesus must conform to their definition of how truth was to be walked out by forsaking and disassociating with the sinner. Jesus loved the sinner and spoke the truth in love that brought healing and salvation. He didn’t look at Matthew, the tax collector, and scream judgement upon Him. Instead He asked if He could have dinner in his home with he and his friends. He came as a friend and then spoke truth in a way that represented His Father. His stories and parables (and friendship) set people free and they became His disciples and His family.
The zealots and Pharisees went the way of their own wisdom. They were offended, harsh and foolish (wise in their own eyes). The true righteous of the day were those who understood that they were saved by grace and that they were in great need of a savior. The Law had not made them wise, but revealed their weakness, their foolishness and their need for grace…and when Grace arrived they embraced Him.
God is displaying His promise of love and life over our nation and the trending “hashtag” #lovewins is within His promise. The true love that Jesus came and displayed to all that received Him will win the hearts of many and will revive the heart of our nation. We do not have to compromise truth in order to walk in love. We can be like Jesus and come as a friend and tell the stories that He has written upon our lives, tell the parables that set men free and enter the home of someone different than us and offer love and kindness. We can remove the stones from the hands of the zealots and see someone set free.
This is a time of His promise and a time to love. This is a time of truth and a time of salvation. We must see as He sees. Be sure to walk by the eyes of His Spirit and not the eyes of the Pharisees. Truth is not compromised in love and love is not compromised in truth. Next time you see a picture of the rainbow on our White House, rejoice because God is renewing His promise to our nation. And when you see a profile picture colored by a rainbow, do not turn to hate or anger, pray the promise of the Lord over that person. Maybe they are the next disciple that will impact the world with the love of Christ.
