It’s Time to Be Free From All Condemnation!

Kathi Pelton

I have become deeply aware of how many believers are plagued by feelings of condemnation and fear. It truly is like a demonic plague. God has especially been highlighting the condemnation that many of His sons and daughters go through that is separating them from intimacy and true relationship with Him. This goes hand in hand with fear…the fear of not being right with Jesus.

“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

NO CONDEMNATION!!

Whenever I talk to someone who deals with condemnation they will say,”I feel so condemned.” The key word here is “feel.” Our feelings and emotions are amazing gifts from God, but they were never meant to be the compass of truth in our lives. His Word is our plumbline for all truth, and His Word is very clear about condemnation in the lives of those who have received Him as their Savior,

“The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.” Psalm 34:22

It has become increasingly distressing to me to see so many sons and daughters under the heavy weight of this spirit of accusation that results in condemnation and crippling fear. The Holy Spirit has had me praying for these precious ones for a number of weeks now. As I have prayed and spent time talking to some who are (or have been) plagued with this torment, the consistent theme was that they “felt” condemnation. It immediately reminded me of a time I sat with a sixty-eight-pound woman with anorexia who told me that she still “felt fat.”

Although feelings are a wonderful gift that enable us to feel joy, compassion, excitement, and sorrow, they are also unpredictable and not reliable regarding truth. When you begin to feel condemnation, that is when you grab “the sword of the Spirit” and go to war against the lie!

“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17

You must battle the lie that has provoked feelings of condemnation with the truth found in the Word of God. That is your compass to truth and your weapon of warfare. The soul (mind and emotions) must be brought into submission to the Word of God, which is your truth and your defense against this lie that has come to separate you from God’s love.

“The LORD has taken away His judgments against you, He has cleared away your enemies The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst; You will fear disaster no more.” Zephaniah 3:15

Jesus paid the price for all the judgements and accusations that stood against you. The evidence against you was irrefutable, but Jesus paid the price for every penalty once and for all. Therefore, to allow condemnation to be a part of your life is to deny the very blood shed for your freedom.

The Holy Spirit uses conviction to lead people to repentance, and His correction is always inviting and full of hope. He takes your hand and walks you to the throne of grace, where mercy takes away your sin and changes your heart. Condemnation forces you into separation and fear, causing you greater captivity.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.” Luke 6:37

Although this verse is focused on judging others, it is applicable to how you judge and condemn yourself as well. It is time to allow the blood of Jesus to be your full pardon! You must begin to speak to your “feelings” when they arise to condemn you. Declare the truth of the Word of God, allowing the sword of the Spirit to slice through your clinging web of fear and torment, and proclaim the authority and power of the blood of Jesus over your life. As you practice doing this again and again you will find that your soul begins to transform and submit to truth.

Here are some verses to sharpen that sword of yours:

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7)

• “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” (Romans 5:9)

• “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (I John 1:7)

• “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).” (Galatians 3:13)

Jesus’ blood washed away all condemnation for those who belong to Him. If you are continually dealing with the feelings of condemnation then know this: YOUR FEELING ARE LYING TO YOU! There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. When words of regret and condemnation arise, remember the words from Hebrews 12:23-24

“…You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”

The blood of Jesus speaks a better word over your life! It speaks the new covenant of grace and it speaks a full pardon from all of your sins and frees you from the weight of regret.

Now is the first day of the rest of your life and it is the day to begin to take back what was purchased for you by the blood of Jesus: your pardon and freedom! Do not any longer live an emotion-driven life but live in the abundant life that is offered to those who have gained salvation. It is a solid foundation to stand upon that will not allow you to be shaken. Your emotions are like the waves of the sea; always rising and falling, always crashing and pulling you under. It is time to submit your emotions to truth; let your spirit arise by standing upon the Rock of Truth: Jesus Christ.
