“Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.” Ephesians 6:14
When you stand on the solid rock of Jesus you not only have secure ground to stand upon during the ever-changing conditions of this world, but you also have put truth around your waist like a safety belt holding you securely in place.
Many claim to be living upon the Rock of Christ and yet they seem to be tripping over Him as if He is a stumbling block for them. They have forgotten to build the armor that protects them and guards them from the fiery arrows of the enemy. If the truth of Jesus is absent, then it is like a person living in a house with a foundation but with no walls and no roof.
We must put truth around our waist in order to stand firm and clothe our lives in the body armor of His righteousness. We have a part to play in standing our ground! God has given us wisdom and truth for standing firm and that truth is found in Ephesians 6,
“Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:14-18
Yes! These verses are a tool belt of truth. We cannot claim to stand on the rock of Jesus and not put on “who He is” (the armor of His righteousness). He has given us instructions of how to live in the midst of the great battles that are continually happening around us.
This is how His people can stand their ground. If we are not wearing His truth, His righteousness, His peace, His salvation, and are not filled with His Spirit, then we will lose our footing and lose ground. These are the walls for the temple (house) of our lives…with prayer and perseverance as the roof that covers us and all that dwell with us.
Take time today to clothe yourself with Christ! He is your foundation and He is your body armor. It’s time to stand your ground and to take back ground. Though the world is shifting and shaking, you can stand firm. Truth is yours, peace is yours, faith is yours, salvation is yours, and His righteousness is your righteousness.
Today is the day to begin to stand your ground!
