Oceans in the Desert

Every Sunday evening I have a prayer call with a group of people from the Washington DC region to pray for our nation, our leaders and whatever the Spirit speaks to us as we wait upon Him. Last night we had a powerful time of prayer in the midst of all of the pain and rage happening throughout our nation.

During our time praying the Spirit kept turning my attention to the cities that have been targeted for violent riots and destruction. First I was led to begin to declare a new name over these cities (and over our nation) as the verse from Isaiah 62:2-4 flowed through my spirit,

The nations will see your righteousness. World leaders will be blinded by your glory. And you will be given a new name by the Lord’s own mouth. The Lord will hold you in his hand for all to see— a splendid crown in the hand of God. Never again will you be called “The Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.” Your new name will be “The City of God’s Delight” and “The Bride of God,” for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his bride.”

The Lord asked me to begin to declare over our nation and over these cities— where violence has erupted— that the Lord will change their name from “Forsaken” or “Desolate” to “The Cities of God’s Delight.”

Then I was taken into a vision where these cities were pools of stagnant water with the blind, deaf and lame (spiritually disabled) laying all around them. But suddenly angels descended upon these cities and began to “stir the waters” and when they did this the people, who had gathered there with many “spiritual diseases” began to see, hear and rise up and walk. They could see that Jesus is the only Savior, they could hear that He is the hope that they had been looking for and suddenly they could rise up from their lame posture and run to Him.

“…for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted.” John 5:4

The diseases of deception; hopelessness, rage, murder, anarchy and rebellion were suddenly healed and captives were being set free.

It is time to stand in the cities where violent riots have broken out and call forth the angels to come and stir the stagnant waters so that they become healing pools. It is time to declare over our nation and these cities their new name, “Cities of God’s Delight!”

May the very ones who go to these cities to bring destruction and hate suddenly find their feet in a pool that heals them and sets them free from the disease of deception. May they encounter the living God and become repairers of the breaches.

Minneapolis, Washington D.C., Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, Salt Lake City, Cleveland, Raleigh, Louisville and more— call upon the angel of their Lord to come and stir the waters of your city and make it a pool of healing. Declare that their names, “Forsaken and Desolate” are no more but that God calls them by a new name! Declare the new name over your city.

What the enemy has meant for evil God will turn for good and for healing. Do not despair, do not bow low in hopelessness but rise up and see the salvation of the Lord come to our nation and to these cities!
