Living In The Unfamiliar

By Kathi Pelton

I used to think that my family was unique in the fact that God had called us to constantly live in the place that I call, “the unfamiliar.” Gos has called our family in different seasons to many different regions, states and nations so it is rare for us to be familiar with a place. We have learned to find our sense of stability in God and family since scenery and homes are constantly changing.

Yet, as I look around, I realize that the entire world has become quite unfamiliar to most of the world. People who have lived in the same city and home for decades are experiencing a sense of unfamiliarity even in the most familiar places. The world has changed and there is no going back to what was once normal or familiar.

So, how do we live in this place and not become disoriented, disillusioned or lost? Though my life has prepared me to live in the midst of constant changes, even I have had to press through the emotional chaos of an entire world shifting. I believe that we can learn a lot from the story of Lot’s wife in this hour.

Lot’s wife made her home in Sodom. This place had been her home and it was where her treasures were. Memories of friends and family were there and everything familiar to her was there. Although Sodom had become a place of pride, a place where men and women lived out unnatural desires, a place that withheld help from the poor (and turned away from God), nevertheless, it was where Lot’s wife had put her treasures.

Sodom may sound familiar to many places in the world today? When fire from heaven came down and was destroying Sodom, Lot’s wife looked back at the place she had called home and longed for her treasures and her life there. When she did this, she became a pillar of salt that forever would be found looking back.

We can all admit that the past two years have given us moments of looking back and longing for “what once was.” Lot’s wife couldn’t see the justice of God destroying what had defiled men and taken them far from him— she just saw the place that her treasures were at being destroyed as she ran into the unfamiliar.

I do not know if Lot’s wife was engaged in the sin of that city or if she merely had become so familiar with it that she could live among it without experiencing God’s sorrow over it (forgetting the high eternal price that would be paid by her friends and neighbors). Whatever the case, when she looked back, she was never able to move forward or look forward again.

I have learned in all of my personal transitions and changes that I can carry “in my heart” the precious and pure memories of days gone by. I don’t have to look back at what I’m leaving behind because what is good and precious is carried with me. This posture helps me to move forward without a constant sense of loss or regrets. The longings of yesterday do not become an idol or a god that I give homage to.

I am a very sentimental person and my family is very sentimental as well. If we had our way, we would have remained in the city where our family has lived for generations. We would have picked one house and made a lifetime of memories there and we would dwell on streets that told our story and had our names. But for us, it would have been a strumbling block— our sentimental hearts could have easily made it an idol. This is not to say that God does not call many to plant themselves in one city for many generations, it is merely to say that he chose another way for us. But no matter where or what God has called you to— in these times the unfamiliar has overshadowed even the most familiar. This is a time to move forward— not to look back at even what was good in a way that may have any root of idolatry. It may be subtle but our hearts need to be longing for what is ahead and becoming familiar with the eternal so that we do not get caught tied to the temporal.

We are to be like the wise virgins looking forward— awaiting the arrival of our bridegroom. It is difficult to reconcile our familiar existence and life here on earth as something temporal. We often view heaven as an unknown or unfamiliar place. This is why it is so vital in this hour to become acquainted and familiar with God and his eternal Kingdom. The lack of familiarity with his dwelling place will always cause us to be drawn to look back and long for the temporal.

It also can cause us to filter out what is grievous to God therefore, we become overwhelmed with sorrow when God destroys what is harming the people he created. Over the past few years we have watched devastating fires ravage some of the most beautiful land in our nation, we have watched entire cities flood, hurricanes and natural disasters take what was home from many people— and some have looked back and become like pillars of salt in their grief and sorrow.

What I am sharing is a call to ask the Spirit of God to separate your heart ties from things that would cause you to despair or faint in the midst of an ever-changing world and environment. We can love and appreciate the beauty of memories, places and people without making them gods or idols. My life has been a long process of dealing with sentimental idols that attached themselves to my heart. They held me back from longing for the city whose maker is the Lord and for my Bridegroom to be my greatest longing—which keeps my eyes ahead— not behind.

To summarize— let the unfamiliar draw you into becoming familiar with that which is eternal!

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

May our treasures and our hearts be found in heaven! This will keep our eyes looking forward— not back.

God’s Whirlwind Is Coming Upon You

By Kathi Pelton

I heard and wrote this word quite a while ago and yet the Lord has brought it back to the forefront and said, “This is a ‘now’ word from my Spirit.” Receive it!

I have been experiencing what I can only describe as a “whirlwind of God.” I was taken into the place of this whirlwind, prophetically, and I saw it rest upon those who have stood in His faithfulness in the midst of adversity. I saw it come upon those who have given out of their own need. And I saw it come upon the faithful remnant that has honored the Lord with shouts of, “Great is Your faithfulness!” in the midst of the storms.

This whirlwind of Heaven will displace the enemy and his demonic assignments sent against you and it will bring you what I heard called “crazy favor” that will make a way for you where there appears no way!

A road will suddenly appear in your wilderness, a stream in your desert and a refreshing cool breeze upon your parched soul. I see sudden and sovereign breakthroughs coming that leave His faithful ones wondering if they are dreaming or if it is real.

There will be shouts that say, “Look what God has done for us!” heard across the land! Contagious joy will fuel this whirlwind and the joyful laughter that comes upon those who have been touched by this will create “spin off” whirlwinds that land upon those who have wavered in their faith, and they will suddenly rise up once again out of their ashes, and beauty will burst forth from their lives.

This whirlwind of heavenly activity will activate faith in many and will cause resurrection power to be released in the atmosphere. The suddenly of God is in this “swirl” and a great movement will come forth from those it touches.

Thank You, God, for the heavenly atmosphere that is invading earthly circumstances and human vessels!

Joyful Expectations

By Kathi Pelton

Did you know that in many instances in the Bible the word, “hope” can be translated to mean joyful expectation? To lose hope is to lose faith because as Hebrews 11:1 says,

Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.

It is not only good but it is essential to our souls to have joyful expectation for our life here and now. God has given each of us dreams, desires and hopes that bring us great joy as we expect their fulfillment. Someone that is very close to me has been facing a decade of infertility and I stand in continuous joyful expectation that she and her husband will conceive a child. Together we dream about this little promise, we have talked about it, bought items to prepare for it, she and her husband have picked out names—plans have been made in joyful expectation. This does not mean that there are not many tears, frustrations, disappointments and even the desire to stop hoping. But the hope continues, and this hope produces joyful expectation even amid deep heartache for them. I, too, faced years of infertility so I know the rollercoaster of joyful expectation only to be met by painful disappointments. The day that I held our adopted eleven-month-old daughter in my arms for the first time, I experienced a complete release from all the sorrows that came from the years of “hope deferred.” Then less than a year later I held my infant son who I gave birth to.

We are not guaranteed that every hope that we have will be fulfilled on this side of heaven but we do have a guarantee that the hope in our eternal promise will be fulfilled. Whether or not we see every fulfillment of hopes and dreams come to pass it is still essential to live in the place of joyful expectation. It is life to our souls and health to our hearts. The dreams that children have of becoming an astronaut or fireman nurture imagination and joyful expectation. Though they may never actually ride in a rocket ship this joyful childhood dream is necessary for their growth and for nurturing their hope in the unseen. We were created to dream big in joyful expectation. If we could retain this childlike posture, it would truly break off the posturing of settling for something less than God’s best for us.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

Often, we stop believing in the “more than we can ask or imagine.” Yet, children are proof that we are to dream of things that are bigger than what we have been able to imagine. I have rarely met a young child with small dreams—they have not been subject to all the things that we learn that cause us to limit our dreams by carnal knowledge.

Common sense can be a great enemy of dreams, but the wisdom of God causes us to enter a joyful expectation of seeing “Him who is able” to do more than we can ask or imagine. I truly believe that the quenching of joyful expectation through common sense or man’s wisdom is more dangerous to the human soul than most any other thing.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:9-11

Shouldn’t we dream of flying rockets or bringing healing to the sick? Shouldn’t we renew the areas of joyful expectation that have been diluted by the wisdom of men? Yes!

When my husband and I began the journey to adopt our oldest daughter, we were young and so full of joyful expectation that we said yes to a journey that was presented to us as “impossible in the eyes of men.” The chances of us adopting this baby girl was truly impossible in the natural realm—judges told us that we did not have a prayer, social workers told us that there was no way for us to become her parents, even Christians looked at us as if we were a desperate young couple that was immature and foolish in our faith and hope. Yet, I had heard my Father’s voice that said, “Trust me and go forth in faith.” Numerous times along the path we hit walls that confirmed the natural impossibility that we were facing, but the Father continued to say, “Only believe.” Nine months later, by unheard of miracles and out of the faith of joyful expectation, we held her in our arms and took her home as our daughter.

I often wonder if God asked me today (thirty years later) the same thing, if I would be as quick to give my yes? Have I “matured” to the point that I’ve lost the joyful expectation that would venture on such an impossible journey with the hope of God fulfilling what he spoke to my heart? Have I matured in the ways of the world or in human understanding or what we call “common sense?” May it never be so!

It is time for us to return to the God “who is able to do above and beyond all that we can ask or imagine” and enter the childlike joyful expectation that we had when we first began walking with him.

“And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she[a] considered him faithful who had made the promise.” Hebrews 11:11

Pray this:

“Father, today I ask you to restore the childlike faith and joyful expectation to me. I declare that every place in my heart and soul that has become diluted by common sense or the wisdom of men would now receive a full restoration of hope and joy. I proclaim today that you are the God who is able to do more than I can ask or imagine! I will not settle for less than the miraculous. I will no longer limit my dreams because those limitations have diluted my joy and expectation of doing the greater things.

Stay Focused! Heavenly Peace Defeats Earthly Distractions

By Kathi Pelton

I heard the words,

“Tell My people to remain focused on what I have said. The enemy has sent distractions to engage them in battles that will steal time, peace and energy from them.”

I saw these earthly distractions like doorways that lead to battlegrounds that rob peace, thankfulness, time, energy and create delays in personal breakthrough. Stay on track! It is vital to remain focused on what the Lord has shown you and where he has assigned you. Be sure to ask Him to order your steps.

Though these distractions may come and seemingly demand your attention, move with caution! Do not allow what stirs your soul to a place of reaction to gain control over you but ask for God’s peace to guard your mind and emotions. The enemy desires to engage many of you in battles that the Lord has not assigned to you or are not real battles— but rather traps to lure you and snare you.

You need the wisdom and peace of God to lead you when distractions come. Remember that giving yourself over to worry, stress, guilt or engaging in the distractions sent against you will steal peace and joy from you.

Walk according to the Spirit and stay focused on what the Spirit of the Lord has spoken to you. Let peace lead you!

“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

Peace and thanksgiving is your weapon of sure victory against these assignments. Ask for angelic assistance and protection and ask the Lord to hem you into his path and purposes for your life and for this season.

Once again, I will remind you of the wisdom that the Lord gave me a number of years ago that stirred me to write my first book (30 Days to Breakthrough: Peace). He said,

“Warfare cannot exist where peace reigns.”

The peace of God will lead you into wisdom, joy, healing, his counsel and his love. When peace is stolen warfare becomes forefront in your life. Mental warfare is often where it begins so let his peace guard your mind! The absence of peace is the presence of warfare but the presence of peace is the absence of warfare.

This is a key for abundant life— especially in the days we are living in. These distractions are assignments to steal your peace so that you will engage in a battle that wears you down. Whatever the distraction or battle is, the Spirit of God will guide you in dealing with the details in a posture of peace without engaging in the assignment or baiting you into a battle that merely creates worry and stress.

God still brings “peace on Earth” but his peace is found in Heavenly places and in him alone. He gives peace and rest to his beloved ones as they remain under the shadow of his wing.

Here is your key counsel against distractions and warfare,

“Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭4:5-7‬

I pray for his peace to guard my heart and mind every day. Pray, trust and thank him because this will usher you into peace while worry and engaging or reacting to distractions will lead you into warfare.

Peace be with you!

Nothing Is Wasted

By Kathi Pelton

Our family has moved THIRTY times! Although some of those moves were due to a constantly growing family, many were because we were following God’s lead in pioneering something new. For me, moving is one of the greatest sacrifices in my life. I am a “nester” and home is where my heart is. My dream as a child was to raise my family in one home that they’d grow up in and bring their children to when they were grown. I love home and being home; yet God called us to travel, pioneer and “go”. It’s truly been an honor and joy even in the midst of more boxes packed than I can count. But He knows that it has also been an offering from my heart and a sacrifice of that dream.

During one of our moves, I was packing and looked out over the sea of boxes and had a vision of angels that were sitting on them with a clipboard in hand. They were keeping account of every act (even the natural acts like packing a box) that has ever been done in obedience to following the Lord.

I then began to see angels assigned to believers all over the world. These people were following the Lord to make disciples of men and to encourage the body of Christ in many different ways. They were working in many different realms of society but they were “Jesus to those around them.”

I saw those who are called to “go out” sitting in airports and sleeping in hotels; they were away from family and comforts but their “yes” was more important than their comfort. The angels were keeping an account of every hour given, not just the hours ministering but the hours of travel and being away from home— even the hours on a plane or sleeping in a bed that was not their own. Then I saw moms and dads who are called to stay home and raise their children and provide for their families; these angels were keeping account of every prayer prayed, every meal cooked, every hug given and every early morning wake up as they trained up their children in the ways of the Lord. I saw those called to work in the marketplace; the angels were taking account of every faithful act of service and every hour of time served. There are so many more scenarios that I could mention but I will keep this short.

Then I heard the words,

“Nothing is wasted! Nothing!”

You may feel as if you life is a series of events that are insignificant but God sees your life in a different way. He doesn’t only notice when you share the good news of His love with someone or pray for the sick, He sees it all, the times you minister and every moment in between. He keeps account of it all.

The next time one of you “stay at home” moms matches another sock or washes another dish because that is what God has assigned for you to do, then know it is being counted to you as an act of faithfulness. Or, the next time one of you gets ready for another day at work know that He sees it and counts it as faithfulness. Or, if you are a sent one who is sitting in another airport or sleeping in a bed that is not your own, He counts it unto you as faithfulness. Or if you are like me and have been called to pioneer faithfulness and encourage the body and you are moving yet again…He counts every moment as faithfulness!

Nothing is wasted…nothing! Heaven is watching, angels are keeping accounts and your Heavenly Father takes great joy in rewarding you.

“…you must stand firm, unshakable, excelling in the work of the Lord as always, because you know that your labor isn’t going to be for nothing in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

The Pouring Plumb Line

By Kathi Pelton

As I sat in the prayer room today I saw plumb lines drop down from heaven to earth over different individual’s lives. As it dropped the tip of these plumb lines became spouts that poured out the love of God, the oil of healing and the wine of intimacy.

As I looked upon this I saw that angels were assisting these individuals to align them directly under the spout so that they received the fullness of what the Father was pouring out. The misalignment was merely causing the person to miss the fullness of what was being poured out. As these loved ones surrendered to his longing the angels were easily able to move them under the direct flow.

Then I heard,

“Their cups will overflow. I have always intended for my sons and daughters to live in the place of the fullness that overflows.”

There is such love, compassion, restoration and healing pouring out at this time. He merely waits for the smallest “yes” to move under his downpour.

New Garments

By Kathi Pelton

Yesterday I suddenly became aware of the presence of many angels. These angels where descending from heaven with what looked like folded fabric in their arms. These fabrics were many different colors but all had gold threads woven throughout the hems and edges. They were thick and expensive looking materials that had the appearance of something designed for royalty.

Then, in my spirit I saw how the Accuser has been accusing many of the saints of God day and night— relentlessly. His goal was to wear them down and cause them to lose sight of their identity in Christ that had given them strength and authority to do all that they had been doing. Many had become disoriented and felt completely alone as this demonic assignment was unleashed upon them.

With every accusation it was like filth being thrown upon their white garments. Many of the saints of God were being accused with such violence and repetition that they felt cornered and traumatized from the ongoing and relentless assault.

The scene reminded me of the scene in Zechariah 3 where Satan is accusing Joshua the High Priest as he is wearing filthy garments. But just like in that story, the Lord is present and he rebukes the Accuser and calls his angels to come and change Joshua’s filthy garments to clothe him with clean ones. He restores him and instructs him in truth.

As I walked into church yesterday I became once again aware of these angels holding the folded fabric but this time I knew that they were royal garments. The Lord has rebuked the Accuser and is removing the garments that are soiled with filthy accusations (some based on truth and some not), his angels have come to put royal garments of the Lord’s righteousness and identity upon his people. These are garments that restore honor, dignity, calling, position and purity. The righteousness of Christ is covering every place of exposure and nakedness, every place of shame and failure, every place of accusation.

Each garment had also had a turban that guards your minds from the false thoughts and narrative that the enemy has unleashed. The mind of Christ and his thoughts— along with the peace of God that guards our hearts and minds is being restored to many. The torment of your mind will be replaced with peace, truth and salvation.

This has been a violent and vicious attack against many to stop the Kingdom from advancing. But an overcoming spirit is coming upon his people who will rise in even greater authority and purity than before.

The accuser has also unleashed accusations against God and against truth like no other time throughout the world. It is creating a narrative of confusion, hate, rage and division. The spirit of deception has been unleashed on a level that most of us have never witnessed. And yet, I believe that those who have had to overcome this great assignment of accusation against them will arise from this troubled place— this dark wilderness— clothed anew, purified and freed from areas of weakness or sin that was present before this great assault. They will come forth stronger and have authority over deception and accusation that will begin to set many free. They will carry a sword of the Spirit that is able to divide truth from deception and soul from spirit. They will be able to rightly divide and will be used to set many free from the division that has come to keep them from God and his truth.

They will have a spirit of overcoming that is founded in the absolute knowledge of the grace and mercy of God. They will be rescued and saved from this assignment to take them captive. But these are prisoners of hope that never abandoned the hope of Christ in the midst of this torment.

Stand still and watch the salvation of God set you free! When you’ve done all you know to do— STAND! Joshua the High Priest merely stood while the mercy of God took over to restore him.

Your identity in Christ will be even more sure than before you faced this attack. Your heart will be even more purified and your belt of truth will have been tightened!

Do not despair but stand and see the salvation of the Lord come to rescue and save you.

Receive the Rain!

By Kathi Pelton

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:10-12

Throughout scripture rain symbolizes a blessing. It comes after a drought to give life and cause new growth. Even in the flood, rain came for forty days to wash sin away from the earth that the Lord had created. God’s people are about to see a “rain of blessings” and showers of cleansing come upon them. The past twelve months have been like living in a waiting room but there is a great roar from heaven that will thunder and release a downpour of blessings, suddenlies and breakthroughs upon you (physically, emotionally and spiritually). This will touch both the individual and the corporate remnant of God.

His voice will thunder in response to the intercession, the worship and the cries of his people. In the midst of waiting and amid a global drought his people have not ceased to declare, “Our God Reigns!” Watch as he responds with his reign! March will “Go out like a Lion” (see my word on The Elijah List) because there will be a mighty roar that sounds like thunder and releases the heavy rain of blessings as his word goes forth to accomplish all that he has purposed.

Even the earth will respond with songs from the mountaintops and trees that clap with joy. A renewed peace will lead his people in the way they should go and they too, will sing a new song and clap their hands in joy.

“…See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come away with me.” Song of Solomon 2:11-13

Though this verse says that the “rains are over and gone”— in this instance I hear the Spirit saying that the storms and gray skies that have blocked the Son are over and gone. The rains that are coming will reveal the blossoms, the early fruit and allow you to breathe in the fragrance of refreshing new life. You will run with him through the garden of life and among the orchards of fragrant fruits. You will find that he has set a table for you in the presence of your enemies. They will look and be ashamed while you feast upon the goodness of the Lord and rejoice of the intimacy that you share.

I prophesy and declare a heavy rain of blessings to come over your life and your household. I stand in agreement with the Lord for a continuous downpour that saturates your dry and barren land. I pray comfort, healing, cleansing and renewed joy upon you. May miracles mark the land of your life. May the early fruit that drips with sweetness satisfies your hunger and may the fragrance that is pleasing to your senses fill your nostrils. Breath it in while you taste and see that the Lord is good to you. The wilderness of waiting is about to turn into a green valley where still waters are always nearby to refresh you and cool you. Look up because your waiting has not been in vain.

Together we declare, “Our God Reigns!”

An Angelic Rousing in March

By Kathi Pelton

On March 1st I began to feel something stirring in my spirit and in the atmosphere that was like an awakening or a “rousing”—a stirring—in my spirit to rise up and begin to march once again. As I woke up on March 2nd I felt the strong sense of angelic presence— as if they’d come to rouse, awaken, and recommission those who have been waiting and watching.

I live in the Washington DC region and since the beginning of the year it has been a time of waiting, worshipping, watching, and washing. It has felt like being cocooned during a transition and personal metamorphosis. Yet, I have been so aware of the evil that has been taking place from DC and from those who have taken residence there to lead our nation away from God and His statutes. Even so, many have not been released to do anything but wait, worship, and be washed.

But suddenly I sense this “spiritual rousing” is stirring in the atmosphere and I sense that it looks a bit like the breath that comes upon the dry bones, causing them to gather together, stand up, and receive muscles, flesh, and life; then they march forth as an army.

Do you feel the mountains that have stood before you, to block your way and your vision, beginning to tremble? Do you feel the ocean that pulled you under it’s mighty strength beginning to roar with the voice of the Lion of Judah, who is calling you to rise and walk upon the surface of what fiercely pulled you under? Do you sense the presence of His heavenly host coming to rouse and commission His army that has been waiting in caves?

Something is stirring. Something is trembling. Something is rousing and something will rise. It is as if a moment of great silence descended on us, and God’s people entered into a holy hush as they became “still.” It has been a “Be still and know that I am God” posture of pure and unadulterated trust in Him. All we have known to do is to stand, because we did all that we knew to do already.

I hear in my spirit a unified and unbreakable sound in the distance coming from a great army arising; not from one nation or one people but from His global family. As I listen intently for the words they are carrying I hear one line repeated again and again. It is the words, “In God We Trust!”

No longer will these words belong to America or merely be words on American currency, but they belong to the people who have been called by His name and who have stood in His faithfulness alone. These words have now been written on their hearts and upon their lives.

They know one another by the spirit and have been joined spirit to spirit by His Holy Spirit. They have been forged in fire; their lips have been purified with coals from the altar; their hands have been cleansed with the pure water of His Word, and their hearts have become fully His. They will trust in no other and follow no other but the One who is King of Kings.

Respond to His angelic rousing— deep calls unto deep as He stirs a great awakening.

Receiving Esther’s Garments

By Kathi Pelton

During this time of Purim, I have been meditating on the Book of Esther. As I have read this book over and over again. The part that has stood out to me more than any other part begins in Esther 2:15.

“Esther was the daughter of Abihail, who was Mordecai’s uncle. (Mordecai had adopted his younger cousin Esther.) When it was Esther’s turn to go to the king, she accepted the advice of Hegai, the eunuch in charge of the harem. She asked for nothing except what he suggested, and she was admired by everyone who saw her.

Esther was taken to King Xerxes at the royal palace in early winter[a] of the seventh year of his reign. And the king loved Esther more than any of the other young women. He was so delighted with her that he set the royal crown on her head and declared her queen instead of Vashti.” Esther 2:15-17

After the twelve months of beauty treatments, each virgin was to pick what they wanted to wear and adorn themselves with before being brought into the king’s chambers. But Esther decided to deferred to the counsel of the king’s trusted official, Hegai, who would know what the king truly desired. She wore only what he suggested; rather than clothing herself with what she desired, she clothed herself in the King’s desire.

This is what I have felt that the Holy Spirit has been doing with the us in these days. The Holy Spirit is like Yeshua’s trusted official to mankind (though so much more- He is One with the Father and the Son). He knows the desire of our King. The bride has been longing to rid herself of all “her choosing” so that she can be fully clothed in her Beloved’s desire; just as Esther was clothed in nothing except what would fulfill King Xerxes desire. When he looked upon her he fell deeply in love with her and took her as his queen; placing the royal crown upon her head. I believe that as we yield to the desire of our our King, settling for nothing less, there is a crown of bridal (queenly) authority that is placed upon our head. His bride will go before the King and she will receive favor– even to the point of being used to reverse evil decrees that have been put in place.

The desire to please our King has been awakened like never before in His bride. There is a holy desperation to rid our lives of any other thing- except His desire. Every other name is being removed (even our own names). We long to take His name as our identity and our crown.

“There I will give her vineyards back to her and make the Valley of Achor (Trouble) into a gateway of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came out of Egypt. In that day- this is the Lord’s declaration– you will call Me, ‘My husband,’ and no longer call Me, ‘My Baal.’ For I will remove the names of the Baals (Masters) from her mouth; they will no longer be remembered by their names.” Hosea 2:15-17

Isn’t it interesting that these scriptures are from Esther 2:15-17 and from Hosea 2:15-17? Esther is presenting herself in purity to become a bride and Hosea is redeeming his wayward bride so that she can be made pure.

There is a bride being prepared, to stand as an Esther before her King and there is also a redeeming of every wayward place that has sought out other “lovers” and become enslaved to their name and harsh rule over her. God is redeeming His bride so that she will be clothed in His desire alone and reign with Him in purity and authority. She is taking His name and every other name (Baal or master) is being removed from her.

As we are in the time of Purim, let us ask the Holy Spirit to instruct us how we are to clothe ourselves. Let us lay aside our thoughts and be clothed with His desire. Let every name but His be removed from our lives so that we become “His desire.”

“I will give them a desire to know me and to be my people. They will want me to be their God, and they will turn back to me with all their heart.” Jeremiah 24:7

“Clothe and adorn us, Holy Spirit, in all that our King desires. May He be our whole desire and may we be ‘His desire.’ We long to turn back to You with our whole heart. We will call you ‘Husband’ and we thank you for removing the names of Baal from us and redeeming us as your own.” Amen
