Testimony Time! “God Will Order Your Steps”

by Kathi Pelton

The other day I was walking around a “beauty/make-up” store with my daughter. As she shopped I wandered around separately. As I wandered, I spotted a lady standing at the counter of their hair salon and immediately had the thought, “Ask her about their pricing.”

Though I needed my hair done, that surely wasn’t in my current budget or in my plans to do. Plus, I was happy with the hair dresser that I currently have. But I was compelled to ask the prices and for reasons unbeknown to me, I found myself making an appointment to have my hair done by her. I walked away perplexed and wondering why in the world I did that! I didn’t even tell my daughter because I was sure that I’d cancel it.

The appointment was two days away and in those two days numerous unexpected things happened that cost hundreds of dollars (including my husband dropping his contact lens only to step on it…costing $300!). I concluded that I for sure would cancel the hair appointment because now it really wasn’t in the budget! But, every time I went to cancel it I would hesitate and felt to hold off a bit longer.

Finally, yesterday was the day for the appointment. I had about 101 reasons to cancel it! They were all legitimate and good reasons. But I felt a nudge to keep moving forward on it…so I went.

Ten minutes after sitting down in the chair for the appointment the Lord showed up. This hair dresser had been raised as a Jehovah Witness and raised her children in the same religion. But something deep within her was crying out for a relationship with God and not mere religion. After her marriage had fallen apart she began to ask questions about if Jesus was truly God or merely a “god” as taught in her religious organization. She went on a deep journey to seek out truth and the true God. She was longing to walk with someone who had the answers that she was seeking.

Then God had me sit down in her chair to get my hair done. For the next three hours what we shared went so deep. While she worked on my hair she kept a tissue box nearby as the tears poured down her face. It was a divine appointment…not because I had to have my hair done but because the God of mercy and grace heard the cry of this woman who was longing desperately for Him. She found who her heart was longing for! We will now begin meeting together regularly.

The reason that I’m sharing this testimony is to remind you to pay attention to those seemingly “random” thoughts that you have that go against your plans but order your steps into divine appointments. I hadn’t planned to go to that store with my daughter that day but at the last minute decided to go just to be with her. I hadn’t planned to make a hair appointment, especially from a stranger and at a place that I knew nothing about. I hadn’t planned to keep this “random” appointment because it made no sense financially (especially with two days of non-stop unexpected large expenses coming upon us)…but my feet were compelled to walk out steps that I had not planned.

If I had given into “reason” or my thoughts I would have missed this and though God would have found another way to reach her, I wouldn’t have had the honor of being the one to watch her encounter the love of God and hear His truth.

I am always so grateful for those who obeyed the Lord when they shared the love of God with me when I first came to know Him. I’m sure that “I” was not a part of their plans! But, as believers, we commit our plans to the Lord and ask Him to order our steps. And…He does! We must be willing to follow that nudge in directions we hadn’t planned and as we do we end up right where He needs us to be.

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9

You may be the answer to someone else’s prayers. Your steps may not make practical sense of even financial sense but listen to that still small voice that judges you to “just keep walking” and watch what He will do.

Divine appointments await you so make your plans but yield the ordering of His steps!

God is Intermingling the Old and the New

by Kathi Pelton

The uncompromising message that I heard as a young believer that taught foundational truths, holiness, and freedom from sin and death has often been lost in the desire to let the world know that we walk in love. Yet, no one had to water down the truth that brought conviction of sin when I came to know the Lord. Sin was devastating my life, and the love found within the message of freedom from sin and a God who would die to redeem me from it was greater love than I had ever imagined possible!

Somehow many have concluded that any message that brings real conviction or exposes sin is not love. Yet, there is more love than we can imagine in the message of an invitation into freedom. The truth that the wages of sin are death and hell is now a politically incorrect message, yet it is the truth that Jesus died for; the one that saved my life and the lives of countless men and women.

The teaching of universalism is that there is ultimately no hell, no final judgement for any individual. There are those who tell us that it is unloving to proclaim the truth that rejecting Christ’s payment for sin will result in eternal separation from God. Such ideas have the appearance of kindness, but they are merely a recipe for watered-down Christianity.

Hell is real, but it was not designed for men; instead, it was meant for Satan and his demon army. Jesus made a way, through His death on the cross, for every man and woman to be redeemed, because He paid the price for our sin. We have the opportunity to receive the free gift of salvation and righteousness before our God. It is amazing that God has not forced His love upon us, but has given us free will to accept it or to reject it. Love offers a choice; not a compromised choice, but real freedom to chose.

When I was a new believer I understood these important truths, but unfortunately there were not a lot of true “fathers and mothers” who would come alongside us new sons and daughters in order to nurture us. Many of us who had chosen Christ and received the gift of eternal life still struggled with deeply wounded souls. I was one who carried scars from my childhood and from the many bad choices I had made that brought great harm to my young life.

Though I had experienced the amazing love of God during my salvation experience, rigid “Do no sin!” messages—apart from the healing of my soul to replace the orphan spirit I carried—merely reinforced an unhealthy demand to perform and set me up for failure.

We are seeing a wonderful shift in this season, and messages of love, healing, intimacy, our true identity in Christ, loving family, and generations walking together are now nurturing new converts and healing wounded souls. However, this does not negate the need for us to understand our hopelessness outside of Christ. We must understand the message of holiness and healing found in Jesus.

What I see happening in the Spirit is an intermingling of the message of uncompromising holiness, true conviction of sin, and Jesus redeeming men from the penalty of sin (which is death and hell) with the message of intimacy, family, sonship, identity, grace and His “reckless love.” It’s “not either/or” but “both/and.”

Either message without the other brings about unbalanced living. One demands holiness apart from healing, and the other creates compromise that makes people “feel good”; but they are being comforted within the constraints of their captivity. We need both! We need holiness and we need healing, we need uncompromising truth and unconditional love, we need to displace the enemy and then fill that place with the true identity that God created men to live in.

There is an intermingling of holiness and healing! There is an intermingling of conviction of sin and healing of hearts! There is an intermingling of uncompromising truth and intimacy! And there is an intermingling of foundational teachings and His reckless love that creates true disciples that know they are sons and daughters.

This will release light to those caught in darkness. It is the message the world longs to hear and the balm that souls need to receive. It is new wine poured into new wine skins. One without the other causes the wine skins to burst and the wine to be wasted.

Let us enter into a yielded life that allows the Spirit of the Lord to intermingle the fullness of all the aspects and characteristics of God within our lives. May a bride who is both holy and healed emerge in this hour!

God is About to Send Fire Down Upon Your Offering. He Will Prove that He Alone is God!

by Kathi Pelton

The Holy Spirit has been drawing my attention to the story in 1 Kings 18, when Elijah and Ahab and the prophets of Baal had their showdown.

As you recall, Jezebel had been killing the prophets of God and supporting the prophets of Baal and Asherah. When Elijah shows up to meet with King Ahab, Ahab accuses him of making trouble in Israel but Elijah declared that it was the king and his family that had made trouble for the nation by turning away from God to worship Baal.

Elijah then tells Ahab to call the prophets of Baal and Asherah to be gathered (along with the worshippers of these idols). There were 450 prophet of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah and one prophet of the true God, Elijah. Elijah instructed the prophets of Baal and Asherah to build an altar of wood and place a cut up bull upon it and then to call to their gods to send fire to consume their offering. From morning to evening they called, shouted, danced and ritualistically cut themselves to summon their god. Fire never fell.

Then Elijah built an altar of stone and wood. He then placed the cut up bull upon it. Then the altar was drenched with water; even a trench was dug around it and water filled it. Then He called upon the One true God.

“At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. O LORD, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.” Immediately the fire of the LORD flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The LORD —he is God! Yes, the LORD is God!””

‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭18:36-39‬ ‭

I felt to remind you of this story because many of you are facing impossible circumstances and yet you have not turned away from the One true God. You have seen the lives of prophets taken, you have watched the evil one try to kill the word of the Lord that you have been standing on and you have watched your countrymen turn to serve idols and false gods.

Today you stand like Elijah before your drenched offering, knowing that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the true God. Those against you outnumber those who are for you but God is on your side and He is about to send fire upon your offering.

I hear you praying the words of Elijah that say,

“…Prove that I have done all this at your command. O LORD, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”

This showdown is not merely for your breakthrough but it is the kindness of God that brings those who have turned to false gods back to the One who loves them and gave His life for them. It is for you, for God and for those who have been lost.

The spirit of Elijah is upon the Church and we are about to see the fire of God fall upon the impossibilities and upon nations! Many will turn to God as they see Him prove that He alone is God.

Declare that the spirit of Elijah will fall in a greater measure upon our sacrifice. Believe that God’s true and pure fire will fall. Declare that those who worship and serve idols (false gods) will turn back to God. The spirit of Elijah defeats every spirit of deception when God’s fire falls and reveals Him as the One true God.

This is the hour that the glory will return! The glory train is arriving and a shout that calls “All aboard” is heard throughout the nations. Those who carry the spirit of Elijah will board this train and be carriers of His fire and glory. They will call back that which belongs to God! The whistle has sounded and it is the time of glory and fire to go forth with light and power.

We call upon the name of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! Prove that we have done all these things at your command. O LORD, answer us. Answer us so the people will know that you, O LORD, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.

Abundant Rain, Super Bloom and Butterflies! Signs of a New Day!

by Kathi Pelton

Our family line has been in California for many generations but a few years ago the Lord asked us to leave the state and move to Oregon. We return for visits with our extended family often and this week was one of those visits. As we drove though the state the normally brown hills were now vibrant green; unlike we’d seen in many years. It was like a visual shout announcing, “The drought is over and abundant life has come and kissed our land.”

As we continued to drive we began to take notice of the amazing wildflowers (poppies, mustard, etc) in bloom throughout the vineyards and upon the rolling hills. Sunshine and rain clouds cast amazing light and shadows down on the land. I was looking at a physical manifestation upon the land that only happens when years of drought receive the downpour of an abundance of rain.

Then the Spirit said, “This is a picture in the natural of what My people will soon look like to all who see them.”

There has been a long spiritual drought for the body of Christ; no differently then the “Golden State” has experienced. But the abundance of rain has come and Spring is appearing upon the lives of His people.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭

This abundance of rain upon a land that has experienced years of drought has caused what is being called a “super-bloom” in California, with hundreds of thousands of orange poppies carpeting the hills and meadows. The abundance of rain has caused plants to thrive, giving the “painted lady” caterpillars plenty of food to fuel their transformation (metamorphosis) into millions of orange and black butterflies taking flight. One butterfly enthusiast in California said that these butterflies seem very purposeful and undistracted in their migration flight pattern. They are quite directional! She was quoted saying,

“They’re in a hurry, like the rabbit in ‘Alice in Wonderland,’” she said. “They have a very important date.”

This is such a picture of the sense that I am getting from many prophetic voices right now. There is clarity in direction and it is like we are hurrying toward a very important time and destination.

California is a natural sign of a spiritual change of conditions and seasons. Not only for the state itself but for the state of the body of Christ. We have gone through a long metamorphosis from a place of crawling to a state of taking flight. Like the butterflies emerging from the fields of orange poppies, so is the church emerging from a time of drought and crawling into a time of flight and thriving. They are be drawn to the time of harvest where the super bloom of souls, healings, miracles and a great outpouring will occur.

It is interesting to note that the orange poppies (which are California’s state flower) and orange butterflies are being highlighted in this natural scene. Orange is the color of fire and there so many prophetic voices talking about the fire of God coming upon the church. Amber is the color that represents the Glory of God.

We also know that California has been experiencing a few years of extreme fires that brought so much destruction but now the land is displaying the glory of God after the purifying fires. Once again we see this state revealing a prophetic picture of the Church which has gone through extreme refining and now is beginning to see a display of the Glory of God resting upon it.

What a beautiful and exciting time we are entering into. One of my friends and I keep saying that we feel like Alice (from Alice in Wonderland); we have gone down the rabbit hole and don’t want to go back! It is becoming a “wonder-land” where awe and wonder will be seen by all. His glory will clothe the church with splendor and beauty and His fire will bring forth the manifestation of signs and wonders by the millions!

An Invitation Into The Deep

by Kathi Pelton

“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” Psalm‬ ‭42:7‬ ‭

The sons and daughters of God have been invited to be taken into the deep places that will cleanse and purify our hearts. It is a deep purging of everything that has kept us from His perfect love, His truth and His ways. It is a baptism with cleansing water and a fire that refines. A way is being made into the deep places of God’s heart but the way requires that light must expose all darkness and fire falls upon the human heart.

These deep waters are answering the prayers that have come before the Lord that have cried out the words of David from Psalm 51:10-12

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

We are in a Psalm 51 kairos moment in time where the deep longing to be holy as He is holy is resting upon us. The longing of God and the longing of His remnant have converged with a kiss of oneness. There is a convergence with the deep groaning (intercession) of Jesus, the groaning of creation and the groaning of mankind to be reconciled to His original intent and His perfect love.

This is why there is a roar coming from the Lion of Judah that releases the sound of restoration. This roar is bringing us into the depths of perfect love that cleanses us (His bride) and is releasing the fire that purifies. We long to be a bride without spot or wrinkle and suddenly we are more aware than ever of our spots and wrinkles. In the grip of this awareness and awakening, repentance becomes such a beautiful gift. Repentance draws us deeper and take us higher; it breaks down the barriers that keep us bound to the shame of sin and stains.

Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. Isaiah 1:18

There are moments that “the deep” feels as if it might swallow us up or drown us but it is actually taking us higher. It is making a way for the motives of the heart to be made pure so that we can walk in oneness with Christ and oneness (unity) with the body.

He is calling out your name and inviting you into the deep places. It is an invitation into the depth, heights and widths of His perfect (agape) love. His perfect love brings water that cleanses and fire that purifies; making us whiter than snow.

Say yes to His call to come deeper!

Keys, Mysteries and Purification

by Kathi Pelton

At the beginning of the year the Lord told me that 2019 would be a “Year of Demarcation.” I knew that February would be a significant month that highlighted moments of demarcation. Beginning 2/12 to 2/22 there was a significant shift, moving the body of Christ into a greater authority that will expose things hidden in darkness, bring forth light, open and close doors, and see both mercy and judgement released.

There are three Scriptures that the Spirit of the Lord highlighted to me. All three of the verse references have the numbers 222 within them.

They are Isaiah 22:22, Daniel 2:22 and Revelation2:22. Let’s look at them and then begin to unpack them a bit.

“I will give him the key to the house of David—the highest position in the royal court. When he opens doors, no one will be able to close them; when he closes doors, no one will be able to open them.” ‭Isaiah‬ ‭22:22‬ ‭

“He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.” Daniel‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭

“So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.” Revelation‬ ‭2:22‬ ‭

In Isaiah 22:22 we see a key of authority given that can open and shut doors. We have entered a time of possessing the keys of authority to shut doors that the enemy has held open to bring about demonic laws, agendas, deceptions, defilements, and darkness; these doors will begin to close through the power of prayer and the authority of Jesus Christ given to the church. The word “Holiness” will be written upon these keys.

The authority that comes to those who will follow His ways and walk in His truths (not adding or subtracting from His Word) will receive keys of authority such as Jesus had when He walked on earth.

“To all who are victorious, who obey me to the very end, To them I will give authority over all the nations. They will rule the nations with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots. They will have the same authority I received from my Father, and I will also give them the morning star!” Revelation‬ ‭2:26-28‬

“They will have the same authority…” Incredible!

Daniel 2:22 is upon us as God is revealing deep and hidden things: both truths and deceptions. He is using the most unlikely men and women to bring this about! In the midst of deep darkness His light will be revealed. The enemy’s “underbelly” will be exposed; shields that have protected and hidden satanic strongholds will suddenly be removed, allowing the light to penetrate the darkness. The enemy will be found vulnerable and exposed in many ways and arenas.

Lastly, Revelation 2:22 deals with the spirit of Jezebel. In this chapter the Church of Thyatira is rebuked for “tolerating that woman- Jezebel.” Verse 22 not only brings judgement upon this spirit of deception and defilement, but it calls those who have joined with her into repentance or they will also be judged.

This is a time that we are seeing this spirit exposed (judged) and “those who have joined with with her” given a chance to repent. It is very sobering because it says that those who do not repent will suffer greatly. How merciful it is of our God to offer a time of repentance. This is His mercy because He does not desire to bring judgement.

The end result of this purification, exposure of darkness, and closing doors will be the return of “Holiness unto the Lord” upon His bride.

We will see righteousness, mercy, light, purity, truth, integrity, and the fear of the Lord come upon the church, and this will result in great authority that replaces the kingdom of darkness and deception with the Kingdom of light and of truth.

This is a time of demarcation that is removing the filthy garments from God’s priests as we see in Zechariah 3. We pray for mercy to triumph over judgement and for the fear of the Lord and holiness unto the Lord to come upon His bride.

Do You Feel Stretched?

By Kathi Pelton

As I sat down today to spend my morning time with the Lord, I let out a sigh (in pain) due to the sore muscles that my physical body is experiencing because of a new workout routine I began this week. There are muscles I didn’t even know that I had that ache from being used for the first time in so long.

As I pondered how I would get into a comfortable position the Lord spoke to me,

“Kathi, many of my people are feeling stretched right now. They are experiencing pain as they work spiritual muscles that have not been active before. Tell them that they are gaining strength and they are getting healthy!”

Wow! This season has been a very intentional time of soul healing, spirit strengthening and a holy purification. God has been ridding His people from unhealthy spiritual, mental and emotional behaviors and beliefs. Just like with a physical workout, it can leave you feeling stretched and sore. Learning new ways and new behaviors takes time, energy and discipline.

I find it interesting that I see many believers getting their physical bodies into a healthy place as well over the past several months. The amazing transformations are posted all over social media. Often the natural things will speak of the invisible things and this is one of those times. It is a time of transformation and there is a beautiful grace being extended for those who will respond.

God is preparing His Bride!

Just as Esther was taken through the long process of itreatments to prepare her to go before the king or when Joshua the High Priest’s filthy garments where removed and new, white linens where placed upon him in Zechariah 3; we too are being prepared, beautified, purified and changed to represent our King.

It is causing many to feel stretched emotionally and spiritually but the Lord wants you to know that you are gaining strength and you are getting healthy. The pain is worth the gain! Keep pressing through because there is a great reward. You will walk in greater love, greater authority, deeper intimacy, purity, holiness and your character will represent the character of Christ.

Be aware that there is also a great resistance by the enemy against this work in your life. The enemy does not want to relinquish places that he has occupied in the souls of God’s people. He will try to stir up resistance against the exposing of strongholds of the soul. But those who yield (surrender) to the work of the Spirit will find great freedom. Minds will be renewed, addictions will be broken and wounds will be healed. The very image of Christ that you were created in will emerge with light and beauty.

This is a time of transformation. Invite the Spirit of the Lord to complete this work within you and to help you when it is stretching you and making it difficult to find comfort.

When the world sees you transformed; they will see Jesus!

Love Never Fails

Kathi Pelton

My husband and I have the high honor of being the pastors of the young adults at our local church. Though we have traveled around the world and been a part of global initiatives, serving this group of young adults and watching them learn to walk in love may be one of the highest calls we have walked in.

Recently some of the young women in our group came to us and began to share with deep vulnerability and transparency regarding some of the ways that they have experienced, and even been a part of, areas that violate the description of love in 1 Corinthians 13. They shared how even within the family of God they often have dealt with jealousy and competition. This violation of love has greatly impacted their lives as they were both recipient and perpetrators of this spirit that comes to divide friends and family. These young women decided that they will no longer just tolerate this in their lives or the lives of their friends so together they are humbling themselves before the Lord and one another to shed light on the areas that have violated love.

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-7‬ ‭

The enemy knows that LOVE NEVER FAILS therefore he most effectively will target the souls of men (and women) in order to provoke them to embrace thoughts and action that go against God’s love.

Jealousy creates an “instant win” for the enemy, pride aligns the heart with rebellion, demanding your own way divides intimate friends, keeping a record of wrongs fortifies unforgiveness and the list goes on!

But love…love never fails! We must press in and ask the Spirit of the Lord to search our hearts and remove every alignment with attributes and actions that violate love. Within each one of us there are blind spots and areas in our hearts that need greater alignment with the love that God has shown us.

This is a prayer that we can all say that will yield our hearts to the work of the Spirit and uncover the places in our hearts that allow the enemy to bring defeat by violating love.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

I long for His people to know and live in the beauty of a love that never fails. We have that in Christ but will Christ have that in us?

The sound of love is the sound of victory for all. The enemy has been drowning out this sound with the noise of gongs. But the Lord is calling out to us, “Silence the cymbals and release the sound that never fails…the sound of love.”

“If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1

Come Lord Jesus and teach us love. Remove every violation and agreement with the enemy that has failed us and divided us. Search us and see if there is any offensive way in our hearts and lives. Create in us a clean heart oh God!

Time To Be Set Ablaze

Kathi Pelton

During a night of worship last night a young woman began to share about seeing the fire in God’s eyes coming to ignite us and she heard the words, “You are highly flammable!”

As she shared this God took me into a vision of His people wearing “fire retardant (resistant) clothing”. I then heard Him say,

“Tell My people not to be afraid to be set on fire! Tear off the garments of restraint that have resisted the fire of My love, My refinement and My purity. Let My all consuming fire come without restraint or resistance.”

We the prophetically gathered together in the center of the room and began to tear off the garments that had resisted His all consuming fire. We yielded every part of our lives to Him; surrendering the fears and restraints.

Are you still wearing some spiritual fire resistant garments that have been rooted in control, fear or kept you from full surrender? If so, tear off the restraints and surrender all. Yield to the fire in His eyes and to the flame of His love. He says, “You are highly flammable so do not wear restraints and do not resist becoming one of My burning ones!”

Set us on fire! Holy fire!

New Year’s Day 2019: Crossing into the Promised Land

Kathi Pelton

On the morning of January 1st, 2019, I awoke and looked at my phone to see the time. It was 4:44 a.m. When I saw this something quickened in my spirit and I knew I needed to pray and pay attention to what the Lord desired to say.

The number four Biblically represents a demarcation point in creation; the fourth day the sun, moon, and stars were created, separating day from night and providing light for both. There are also four separate seasons in a year providing a demarcation of changes throughout each year. The fourth commandment is to rest and honor the Sabbath, which is a demarcation in time each week where we go from active work to focused rest.

This new year (2019) is a demarcation year that signals a time and season shift or change. It is also a year that God will reveal great light in the day and great light in the night (darkness). His light comes from the place of His perfect love and perfect love cast out fear. Fear of darkness will be met by the light of His perfect love and that love will cast our fears that have gripped the hearts of so many.

Immediately upon waking on 1/1/2019 at 4:44 I went to my Bible and opened it. As I did the Spirit asked me to look down and read the page that I had opened to. These are the first words that I read in 2019,

“Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach (captivity/slavery) of Egypt from you.” So the place has been called Gilgal to this day. On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.” Joshua‬ ‭5:9-12‬ ‭

In the Hebrew language, Gilgal means circle and stone. We see the “reproach of Egypt (captivity)” rolled away just as the stone was rolled away from the tomb of Jesus when He was resurrected. Light suddenly emerged out of darkness; both the darkness of captivity and the darkness of the tomb. Both events are “demarcation” moments that changed history by rolling away a stone.

Joshua 5:9-12 also speak of leaving a fort-year time of wilderness living, where the Israelites survived on daily manna for their provision rather than the fruits and harvest of the Promised Land. Suddenly manna was no longer needed and the Israelites enjoyed their first meal from the crops of Canaan.

This marked the end of the time of manna, stagnation, and wilderness survival; they were moving into the land of their inheritance. Though there were many enemies occupying their land, as they kept the Lord’s commands and instructions they would overthrow the enemies in order to possess and occupy their promise.

I truly believe that this is a picture of the time that we have now entered. We have crossed over and are having our hearts circumcised. The time of being idle has come to a close and the reproach of captivity is suddenly rolled away. We are getting our first tastes of the riches of Canaan.

The body of Christ is being asked to walk forward as one people; one family that follows all of the Lord’s commands and instructions. In doing this we will conquer enemies, tear down strongholds, and occupy lands of long-awaited promises.

The rewards and victories ahead are remarkable and yet we must be sober to the truth that the penalty for not following His ways and instructions will be costly. We must walk as one army, as one family, without jostling for position or moving according to the flesh. This is why it is imperative to allow the circumcision of our hearts to take place as we enter this new season. The old must pass away and we must all ascend the mountain of the Lord together to meet God face-to-face. There, we will receive wisdom and instructions of how to proceed while coming daily into intimacy and nurturing His presence.

“Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” So the LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”” Exodus‬ ‭33:15-17‬ ‭

As we meet with God and follow His instructions, our enemies will be struck with fear as they see the miracles and victories that the Lord will do through His people.

I conclude with a number of Scripture verses that the Lord has highlighted to me for this time and season. I encourage you to read them, pray into them, and carry them with you in your heart and mind.

“Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’? Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to put an end to this proverb, and they will no longer quote it in Israel.’ Say to them, ‘The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled.’” Ezekiel‬ ‭12:22-23‬ ‭

• “I am the LORD your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them;” Ezekiel‬ ‭20:19‬ ‭

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

“For if you carefully keep all these commandments which I command you to do—to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him— then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess greater and mightier nations than yourselves. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand against you; the LORD your God will put the dread of you and the fear of you upon all the land where you tread, just as He has said to you.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭11:22-25‬ ‭

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John‬ ‭1:5-9‬

Take time to meditate on these verses. His word is the lamp that lights the way of our paths ahead. Let us hold fast to His written and spoken words as we move forward to possess the land.
