A Preemptive Strike of Prayer— A Shaking For Awakening!

By Kathi Pelton

For days now I have had a deep sense that the enemy is trying to change times and seasons. His plan is to prematurely initiate things that would “buy him more time” and stop the Church from occupying land that he has held.

God will use this “pandemic/epidemic” to usher the Church into a greater purity and into the governmental authority that we were intended to walk in. As many of God’s people have joined in the 40-day “Jesus Fast” and now (beginning March 18th) a three-day Esther fast— I believe that this fast is unto a greater purification and authority for the days to come.

The enemy’s plan is to take this global crisis into a global shift that would change times and seasons but as I was woken up at 3 a.m. to pray, I heard the words,

“I have enacted a preemptive strike of prayer that will cut this global demonic assignment short!”

Corporate prayer will stop this in its tracks! As prayer is partnered with the fasting that is happening on a global scale, we will see this come to a sudden and miraculous halt. In this hour we have all witnessed prayer meetings move from the boundaries of buildings to the seemingly limitless expanse of the internet. Nations are joining together as ONE FAMILY to pray, stand with one another and to be the corporate voice of the Bride. Theological differences (opinions) and cultural differences are being set aside to raise our voices as one voice.

In the midst of a global tragic pandemic a global incense of prayer is being released and it is beautiful! It is uniting His people in an offering of prayer and praise. It is John 17:21-23 coming upon the Church.

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” ‭

In the midst of what was sent to separate us and isolate us; God has raised up a way to come into times and places of corporate authority, unity and agreement in order to launch a preemptive strike of prayer. We may not be physically together but we are joined in our spirits and online as nations gather to humble themselves and pray as one!

We are praying with nations and names that we never have joined with before this crisis began. Our schedules and lives have been interrupted but God is using it to awaken us from a slumber that was allowing the enemy to dictate time and change seasons.

On Monday morning I was at a prayer meeting and while I was there I went into a vision. In the vision I was trying to wake up my oldest son, who is a very heavy sleeper (VERY heavy sleeper!). I heard his alarm go off but it did not wake him up so I went into his room and began to gently shake him; still he did not wake up. I then realized that the hour was late and began to shake him harder. Finally I shook him with a force that shook everything around him. With that he was awakened— just in time to not be late.

I immediately knew that it was a vision revealing that there are those who have been in a “hard sleep” that needed a forceful shaking to finally awaken. My oldest son is part of the millennial generation and I felt that is was also to further awaken those upcoming leaders who are now young adults. The enemy wanted to have these ones sleep through his attempt to change times and seasons until it was “too late.”

God is using this shaking to awaken many to keep and align with His times and seasons; with His heart and longings. As I went into intercession following the vision I found my mouth crying out the words, “Awaken us from this ‘hard sleep’ that has caused our hearts to slumber in the hour of need.”

A couple years ago I was given a very detailed dream of a younger millennial generation. In this dream they would not sleep as the disciples did while Jesus prayed in the garden on the night of his betrayal. They would remain awake and “give Him no restuntil the end…” (Isaiah 62:7). In this very detailed dream (which I’ll share at another time) God called this generation His “Third Watch Generation.”

The third watch of the night is the midnight to 3 a.m. hours. There are four watches of the night; the fourth being from 3 am to 6 am which finishes the night. Many believe that we are in the “fourth watch” of the ages but in this dream the Lord clearly spoke and called the young adults of this day “The Third Watch Generation.” They may be the trip wire for the third great awakening. But it may take a great shaking (as we are experiencing) to awaken many of them from a “hard sleep” so that they, “Give Him no rest!” They may be the ones to usher in the fourth and final watch?

Let this shaking awaken every place in each of us that has been in a “hard sleep.” Let’s awaken to first love and not turn him away when He comes to knock upon the door of our hearts.

Throughout this week the words from Songs of Solomon 3:1-4 have been going through my spirit,

“By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him. “I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; In the streets and in the squares I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not find him. The watchmen who go about the city found me; I said, “Have you seen the one I love?” Scarcely had I passed by them, When I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go, Until I had brought him to the house of my mother, And into the chamber of her who conceived me.”

In this time of shaking, prayer and fasting may we be like the bride running through the streets looking for the “one we love” and may we find Him, hold Him and not let Him go!

This shaking is causing a preemptive strike that stops the enemy from changing times and seasons but even greater— it is awakening first love!

What If This Is A Dress Rehearsal?

By Kathi Pelton

The late John Paul Jackson prophesied about two pandemics that would come; the first would mainly produce fear but the second one would be very serious. I am sobered by the fact that God gave us words that we see coming to pass in our current days through voices that “left us too soon” like John Paul Jackson, Kim Clement and Jill Austin. “Give us ears to hear, Lord!”

As I’ve watched fear empty the shelves of grocery stores and even online warehouses I began to think about Joseph and how God gave him the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream (Genesis 41) where there would be seven years of abundance and seven years of famine. Because Joseph was given the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream he was given Pharaoh’s signet ring and put in charge of Egypt during this fourteen year period. Joseph took from the abundance of the seven years and stored grain “beyond what they could measure” that would provide in the days of famine that were coming. During the famine the nations went to Egypt to receive from Joseph’s storehouses the provision that would sustain their lives.

Yesterday I kept hearing in my spirit three words, “Fill Joseph’s Storehouse!”

What if what we are experiencing today with the COV-19 is merely the dress rehearsal for a much more serious pandemic? If it is a dress rehearsal then we, as the church, were not prepared! Where is the wisdom of Joseph that fills the storehouses with grain for the days of famine?

Will the Church arise and take the signet ring of the Lord to take charge and become storehouses that are “filled beyond measure!”

Yes, we want to fill the vats of heaven with prayer first and foremost; we are doing that. Yes, we want to prepare by turning the hearts of sons back to fathers and daughters back to their mothers! We are longing for that! Yes, we want to return to the fear of the Lord that releases wisdom; we are humbling ourselves to receive that wisdom. But, maybe we have forgotten to steward the practical provisions that will be greatly sought after in days of “famine” (or in another global pandemic).

What if the church had storehouses of abundant supplies that were “beyond measure” for the days to come? The nations of the world would come to where the storehouses are in the days of great need.

I am first an intercessors and worshipper; but I want that intercession to release wisdom that has foresight for the days to come. I love the prayer of Solomon in 1 Kings 3,

“…And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of David my father, although I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in. And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, too many to be numbered or counted for multitude. Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

We need to be given an “understanding mind” to govern this great people! Both Solomon and Joseph were given “understanding minds” to know how to lead and govern; both spiritually and practically. Again, first and foremost, we need to see our nations (our hearts) turned back to God. Solomon’s prayer in 1 Kings 8:22-61 while dedicating the temple confirms that (read and pray those verses for your nation) but often we forget that we need an understanding mind to know how to prepare practically (to steward the abundance we’ve been given). Will we be the much needed storehouse when famine comes?

Let’s begin to ask the Lord to give us wisdom (an understanding mind) of how we, the Church, can become Joseph’s storehouse that is filled with grain for the days that are coming. I looked around my house this week and realized, “I am not prepared! Have I eaten my seed that was for the days of famine?” It’s a real question. This isn’t shame or condemnation but rather a sobriety of the current state of things.

Will God in His great mercy give us time to prepare? Will He give us seven years of plenty so that we will steward abundance for the sake of times of famine? Will we eat the “above and beyond” or store it for the days ahead? God, have mercy upon your people and sober us in this time to humble ourselves and ask for wisdom and an understanding mind.

If we will do this we will see the very ones who “threw us in the pit because of our dreams” come to us in times of great need and hold their hands out to receive from us (spiritually and practically). They will be like Joseph’s brothers and be restored to us; they will show honor the ones that they had previously mocked and threw into a pit.

We are to be the answer to a world in need; spiritually and practically. It’s not “either or” but “both and…

I do not know if what we are experiencing is a dress rehearsal but if it is we have been found wanting and must let this be a wake up call to both dedicate the temple AND to fill the storehouses!

Give us understanding minds God!

Let’s Be Jesus To Those In Fear!

By Kathi Pelton

There is so much fear right now and for the first time in my lifetime— it’s global! But rather than focusing on whether the fear and reactions to those fears are warranted or not, let’s respond to the reality that much of the world has become very afraid. There are those who feel alone and there are those who have real health issues or children (loved ones) that are vulnerable to illnesses– they feel afraid! There are people out there who have experienced traumas that have left them more susceptible to gripping fear and those who have never been shown true love. It really doesn’t matter what our opinions are regarding the source of the fear– what matters is our response as those who are to carry the love of Jesus to the world.

Right now a lot of people who are in fear are watching social media but will they merely see the body of Christ making light or even “mocking” their fear. Again, it doesn’t matter what your opinion is but what does matter is that the fear that many are experiencing is real and is paralyzing. So let’s be light, be hope, be compassion— be Jesus to them!

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

I’d like to draw your attention to the second half of this verse, “…but a spirit of power, love and of a sound mind.” I believe it’s time to arise during this time that so many have come under a spirit of fear and release the power of love and use the “sound mind” given to us to minister peace and hope in a world that is gripped with fear.

I saw a post today where someone was offering to go to the store or bring food or visit those who feel that they cannot leave their home (do to fear or who are elderly or fighting flu symptoms, etc.). What a great response!

What if part of the great harvest begins with His people loving a world that has been infected; not only by a virus but by a true spirit of fear? What if we respectfully offer to sit with them (even with a mask on if that is what helps them). What if we offer to run an errand or bring a meal or pray for them?

Or; even if all you can do is post words of love, peace, hope and encouragement on social media or through a personal email— let’s do that!

We can be Jesus in this and release a pandemic of love. Maybe if the churches have to close their doors then instead of being behind the doors of the church this Sunday we begin to visit the places that fear has been visiting? Why should fear get to have the last word when love can be offered like a cup of cool water on a scorching day?

We can joke about toilet paper shortages but let’s not mock those that are truly afraid. This is an opportunity to show love; what does love look like?

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

It does not dishonor. We need to walk and present a love that honors. Be sure that both in person and on social media that we are not dishonoring of those who are fearful. I read a post from a lady who lives nearby to our city saying that she wore a mask and gloves to the grocery store yesterday and people were mocking her, making comments about over-reacting and shaking their heads at her. Well, what people didn’t know is that she has a seriously ill child at home who’s immune system is highly compromised and she has to be extraordinarily careful to not bring home any virus! Wouldn’t it have been wonderful if someone had walked up to her and offered to pray for her or help carry her groceries? If just one person had stopped to offer love they would have seen seen the tears behind her mask.

We have an incredible opportunity to love right now. Let’s stop completely focusing on what the enemy is doing and ask Jesus what He would do. Of course we need to pray and take spiritual authority over sickness and fear but we also need to be the love of God to those in need at this time. Let’s band together as churches, as caring human beings, as communities, as Christians and ask Him what we can do and then go do it!

Fear may be an open door for love to come in! Go—>

Time to Crossover!

In 24 hours our moving truck arrives! We will pack it and begin the drive from Oregon to Virginia— our new home and ministry base.

This is a huge transition with a huge price tag but the Lord asked us to go to the Washington DC region for our next assignment and we will always say, “Yes” to the One who is worthy.

Some have asked why we are raising funds if the Lord asked us to go (saying that if He asked He will provide). Our answer to that is that God made family and partnership within that family; just as we can ask for prayer, counsel, encouragement— we can also ask for financial support. God often provides through His family so that all receive a blessing.

We have spent years giving and often sacrificially, but in everything we’ve ever given we received back more than we gave. It’s how the Kingdom of God works.

Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

This has been our experience and therefore when we invite you to give, we also invite you into the overflow of His promised blessing.

On January 4th we will begin our almost 3000 mile journey across the nation to begin to enter into what the Lord has asked of us. We invite you to enter in with us through prayer and by giving a financial gift.

We have a GoFundMe page that is only $1300 from reaching its goal! Here is the link to give through our fundraiser: http://bit.ly/2qNqBI2

You can also go onto our ministry website and give through our donate button at: https://www.inscribeministries.com/

We bless you, pray for you, decree favor and abundance upon 2020 for you and your household. Thank you for standing with us and helping us reach our goal!

Yes, Virginia, there is a Savior!

“Yes, Virginia, there is a Savior…His name is Jesus!”

There may not be a Santa Claus but there is a resurrected king!

OUR BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

We are moving to Virginia to stand with our nation, pray from DC and to see our nation turn back to God! Will you stand with us and we prepare to go?

We have lived our entire lives on the West Coast. No matter where we’ve traveled in the world; we always returned to the West Coast to go home. That will change as of January 4th, 2020. We will begin our 3000 mile journey across the nation to make Virginia our new home and ministry base.

We received a prophetic word that said, “This is not just another move— this is your destiny!” God has confirmed His desire for us to live in Virginia and to turn our attention to turning our nation back to God. Jesus is worthy of His full inheritance and we will join forces with those that have labored with great sacrifice to see God’s original intent for our nation fulfilled.

Although we know that “He who called us will make a way for us.”, we also heard Him say, Invite My people to enter into this destiny journey with you.” We are a family and God loves it when the family stands together to bring the breakthrough. It makes our Papa proud!

Therefore, we are asking if you would like to be a part of our destiny journey by helping us cross the country to settle into a new land? The Lord said, “Look at the nation through My eyes; it is flowing with milk and honey!” That is His good report that we are believing as we crossover.

A GoFundMe account has been created for those who feel to stand with us as we step our feet in the river. In faith we are believing for the water to part so that we can cross over on dry land. If you would like to be a part of our journey by sowing into this destiny move then here is the link:

http://bit.ly/2qNqBI2

We will continue to keep you updated and hope to see many of you visit the DC and Fredericksburg, Virginia area. We will continue to wait, hear and write even as this move continues. Thank you for your love, prayers and support!

It’s A New Day

by Kathi Pelton

Some days are hard! For me, yesterday was one of those days. From the moment I woke up things just went wrong. To top it off, my emotions were all over the place and I should have stopped and taken a long walk or locked myself in my closet to pray. “Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve!” was my theme of the day.

But…today is a new day! If you woke up breathing this morning then you can be sure that it’s a new day, new beginning and new opportunity to thank God, smile and know that God’s faithfulness didn’t change during your “bad day!”

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”” Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-24‬ ‭

As I went to bed last night, pondering my “list of woes” from the day, I decreed aloud, “You are forever faithful! Thank you for this day because Your faithfulness covers every part of it.”

Each day we begin in mercies afresh and surrounded by His absolute faithfulness. His mercy and faithfulness go with us throughout each moment. They are never absent from us— He is never absent from us. Our moods change, our circumstances change and people around us change; but He is constant! He never changes and never shifts in His ways and promises. His love endures forever.

So, if yesterday was not your favorite day then know this, “Today is a new day with mercies renewed!” Begin it with expectation of joy and singing songs of thanksgiving. The verses from the Book of Lamentations above (3:22-24) go on to say this,

“The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” Lamentations‬ ‭3:25‬ ‭

Enter today in complete dependency upon Him. Search for Him throughout your day; sometimes He is in clear sight but some days you have to find Him behind the distractions that come to block your view. Whatever was brought from your “bad day” into your “new day” commit it to the faithfulness of God and ask for His mercies to cover it. He is with you…great is His faithfulness!

The Shout That Releases A Heavenly Rescue Mission

By Kathi Pelton

We truly are in a time of battle against the enemies of God! Or maybe I should say that the enemy is in a battle with those who are lovers of God! But we know that “love wins!”

I woke up with a song lyric going through my mind. Often God will put a song in my spirit to speak to me about what He is doing. This time it was the line from the song, “You Have Won Me” (Brian & Jen Johnson/Bethel Music) that says,

“Shout it out and lift up one voice in worship, sing it out until all the earth can hear it, Jesus is alive and He saves, He rescues and saves!”

There is a battle cry (or shout) to be released! Let’s shout it out as one voice until all the earth can hear it, “Jesus is alive and He saves…He rescues and saves!” The enemy hates truth, hates unity and oneness and hates the sound of salvation. Why? Because it is a frequency that shatters darkness and sets the captives free.

“The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.” Psalms‬ ‭91:14‬ ‭

He will rescue and save you! He will rescue and save this generation! His salvation will come like a flood in response to our battle cry because it carries “salvations sound!”

I see in the days ahead stadiums full of desperate and passionate people shouting out, “Jesus is alive and He saves, He rescues and saves!” Their sound will not be contained within the stadium walls but it will fill the atmosphere of cities and regions with the song of salvation that sets slaves free! It will release a rescue mission to a generation!

I see mom’s on their bedroom floor shouting out the same words over their prodigal children and in response Jesus releases a rescue mission to leave the ninety-nine to save the one.

I see nations shouting these words over the unborn and a mighty rescue mission to save the babies in the womb! The sound with bring triumph over death.

Shout it out!! It’s time! It’s the sound of salvation and the sound that signals a rescue mission to loose the captives and to shatter the darkness…even the darkness that has opposed you, oppressed you and tried to shut your mouth. It’s time to shout! Jesus is alive and He saves, He rescues and saves!

Tent or Tabernacle?

by Kathi Pelton

Over the past three days we hosted a 50-hour worship tent in Portland, Oregon for the Awaken the Dawn movement (#tentamerica). When we were asked about sharing testimonies that came forth from our tent I began to ponder what I wanted to share. Although we have testimonies of healings and people experiencing deep touches of God’s love and presence; the true testimony for me was the tent itself. It’s three days standing has become a picture that is forever etched upon my heart.

Our tent was donated by a local church that owned an inexpensive “summer tent.” Purchased for under $100, they were perfect for a warm day event but not for a three day heavy storm. It did have “flaps” that acted as walls, yet they were little more then thin plastic tarps with clear faux windows (and small Velcro strips to hold them in place). The instructions enclosed with the tent clearly stated that it was not meant to remain up overnight and should NOT BE USED in wind or rain.

The weather forecast for our three day (50-hour) event revealed large storms approaching. Our venue was at a high place in our city so the wind is known to be much worse in that location. But, “in faith” we raised our flimsy tent and prayed for God to keep it standing.

The night before we were to start our 50 hours of worship I had a pretty sleepless night as I heard the rain beginning to pour and the wind blowing outside. I thought about how I was about to put thousands of dollars worth of sound equipment and musical instruments (that I didn’t own) into a tent that specifically says, “Do not use in wind or rain.”

The next morning, as we arrived at our tent to set up the sound equipment, I found a completely drenched tent that had taken a hard beating the night before from the harsh weather. My main concern was the sound equipment and the safety of the people who would be coming to worship.

As our team unloaded the equipment we decided to put two heavy duty pop up canopies over our stage area to protect it in case the tent failed; so we had “tents within tents.” We knew that nothing would keep the rain from coming in from the ground so we made sure that all electrical supplies were above the ground so that we would not electrocute our musicians! Then we took zip ties and reinforced the thin walls. Lastly, we used waterproof tape to seal any openings where water was leaking through.

After getting all of the sound equipment, instruments, chairs, lighting, tables, and decorations (even rugs) set up we were ready to go! It looked amazing and so inviting. The excitement was building but so were the black clouds outside. People arrived and our first worship team was about to start up when “boom!”…five minutes before it began all the electricity short circuited leaving us in the dark. As everything turned dark a torrential downpour began that was accompanied by huge gusts of wind. Our faithful worship leaders pulled out an acoustic guitar and began to sing in the dark. Our small team rushed around in the dark and rain trying to figure out how to get our power back on. Some of us searched for circuit boxes, some held the poles to the tent to keep the winds from giving us a “Wizard of Oz” moment, some worked in the dark to seal more leaks. All the while I prayed my heart out for supernatural help! But the worship went on! After about forty minutes of this we suddenly had power again. Our faithful team was soaked to the bone but they went right back into worshipping the One who is worthy of our offering.

Worship was continually beautiful but through each set our tent was taking a beating that surely should have destroyed it within the first hour. The heavy rain poured upon it and the winds whipped it like a kite in the wind and yet it stood!

Due to the harsh weather and need for “all hands on deck” our little team spent the 50 hours onsite more than taking breaks to get much needed rest. We were compelled to protect the sound going forth! Prior to the event the Lord kept saying to me, “Protect the sound.” I didn’t fully realize what He had meant until all of these things began to happen. We would protect the sound through prayer and remaining present!

Hour after hour the most amazing sounds of worship intermingled with the sound of the abundance of rain came forth. And hour after hour this flimsy summer tent stood like a lighthouse in the storm.

It was as if the harder the hits came against this tent the more resilient and steady it became. This cheap tent became a priceless, supernatural sign and wonder to all who came in. As it endured the storms it gained “character” and to us was no longer a cheap, plastic tent but now a true tabernacle of praise. I thought of the words from Romans 5:4-6,

“…endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

By the time we reached the half way mark, our tent had proven its ability to withstand the worst of storms and our confidence and hope grew! It was not going to disappoint us because the love of God was being poured out in it!

As I watched this tent, it became a picture of the Christian life. Storms come upon us that reveal the weak areas that need the strength and love of God. We endure storms that “should” take us down but as we remain in Him we are held up and our character is built. Then hope is produced and that hope does not fail or disappoint us! It is a hope given to us by the Spirit of God. The same Spirit that helps us to endure storms and grow in the hope of Christ was holding up our tent. In our weakness His strength is made manifest just like in the weakness of our physical tent His strength was being made manifest as we put our hope in Him.

What began as a cheap tent became a castle! It stood like His constant faithfulness that is sure and unshakable. So, yes…tents saw healings, experienced deep worship, made proclamation, experienced unity, saw orphans put in family and homeless sheltered…but what happened with our tent will forever impact me.

Our tent became a testimony of how He takes the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and how He takes our weaknesses and in that place causes His strength and faithfulness manifest for all to see!

So. now I am happy to boast in our weak tent because it revealed the strength of our God! He turns paupers into princes, orphans into sons and daughters and plastic tents into tabernacles of praise.

It’s Your Day of Atonement! Decree His Seven Blessings and Watch Them Be Established In Your Life!

by Kathi Pelton

Today we are in the midst of The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), which begins at sunset on Tuesday, October 8, and ends at nightfall on Wednesday, October 9. It is the most holy day on the Hebrew calendar and it truly is a significant day for all believers. As we remember that Jesus is the One who atoned for all of our sins and that His atonement is a permanent atonement, no longer temporary as in the Old Testament. Yet, within that atonement is a promise of blessings that we receive as well. I believe we obtain these blessing as we come into Christ but they become established as we decree them over our lives…for His Word does not return void.

As we recognize this most holy time of the Fall feasts; decree the seven blessings that God decreed for this day:

• You’ll receive a double portion from the Lord (Joel 2:23) … TWICE the power of every blessing!

• You’ll experience financial overflow (like the threshing floor of Joel 2:24)!

• What you’ve lost will be restored (Joel 2:25)!

• Jesus will return or you’ll experience an explosion of miracles in your life (“wondrously,” Jesus says in Joel 2:26)!

• The divine presence of Jesus Himself will be in your midst (Joel 2:27)!

• Increased revelation knowledge will pour into your life, and angels will camp around your children (Joel 2:28)!

• What has stopped or blocked you will be banished — you’ll be delivered (Joel 2:32)!

Atonement is defined as:

1. reparation for a wrong or injury.

2. the reconciliation of God and humankind through Jesus Christ.

Here is the list again with the scriptures written out for you to decree. This is the Hebrew year 5780, which represents the “mouth” and I believe that it is a year to “decree a thing and it will be established!”

Joel 2:18-23 gives seven supernatural blessings connected to the Day of Atonement offering:

A Double-Portion Blessing

“He will cause the rain to come down for you — The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month” (Joel 2:23). The former rain prepares the land for seed-time, and latter rain prepares it for harvest. During the first month of the Jewish New Year, both rains come together. This double-portion blessing still happens today for those who present a Day of Atonement offering to the Lord.

• God’s Divine Presence

“I am in the midst of Israel: I am the LORD your God and there is no other” (Joel 2:27). Everywhere you go, His presence goes with you.

Restoration

“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25 NIV). God promised that He will give back to you whatever the devil has taken away from you.

Miracles

“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you” (Joel 2:26). God promised not only to provide you with plenty but also that He will deal wondrously with you. Imagine an outpouring beyond anything you’ve know before.

Financial Outpouring

“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil” (Joel 2:24). If we obey the covenants of God, He promises to open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so big that we won’t have room enough to receive it (see Malachi 3:10).

Blessings upon Your Family

“I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days” (Joel 2:28-29). God desires for your family to build a great heritage of faith and follow Him all the days of your life (see Psalm 115:14).

Deliverance

“Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved” (Joel 2:32). This includes those of us who have been “grafted” as wild olive branches into the tree (see Romans 11:11-24), and this promise of deliverance is available to believers everywhere.

Gather your family and decree these words together! Establish them over and in your lives and household this day that we remember the atonement that has been given to us through Christ Jesus.

He not only takes away our sins but then He gives us a seven fold blessing in return! What a wonderful Savior!

Watchdogs or Watchmen?

by Kathi Pelton

Recently I had begun noticing people in the body of Christ that had taken on a posture that has the tendency to be “fiercely on guard” and somewhat “territorial” in nature. They are continually looking for an intruder or a breach to come into the atmosphere or room. I know that there are certain people that God has “wired” to guard and protect but I what I saw were people becoming more acquainted with the presence of darkness then the ability to release the light that dispels darkness.

A watchdog is always on guard! It is trained to ward off and attack any intruder that breaches the place or person that it has been stationed to guard. Again, this is not a negative thing but the Spirit of the Lord began speaking to me about the difference between a watchdog spirit and the spirit of a watchman.

A watchman sits in a high place to observe from the “above” advantage. They see the whole picture, the whole city and signal a corporate people regarding what needs to happen. A watchdog views what is in front of him, what doesn’t smell right and then goes after the threat one on one to defend its territory. Unfortunately, not seeing the whole picture has created victims with bite wounds that could have been avoided if the perspective was viewed from above.

Often this kind of “watchdog” mentality in the church has often missed the mark. It’s created suspicion, an attack mode, a defensive posture and a focus on intruders. Often it merely focuses on getting rid of the threat. But a watchmen is set above to see what God is doing! Though they will see the enemy but they will also see the Captain of the Lord of Hosts and His great army. The watchmen will see what both are doing and how they are to move and align God’s people to be in unity with the army of light. They are those who dispel darkness rather than wrestles darkness in a one on one territorial battle.

Recently a friend had a dream where she was in her house trying to sleep and her dog was near her front door. She looked and realized that the door was open and that there could be an intruder in the house. But her dog didn’t bark or rouse from his place of rest. She was confused at why he was sleeping while the door was ajar and the presence of something dark could be nearby. When she awoke she immediately remembered the story in Matthew 8:23-27 when Jesus slept on the boat during the storm that caused his disciples to believe that their lives were threatened. The Lord spoke to her and reminded her that we must learn to rest in the presence of darkness in the days ahead. Sometime rest is the weapon of warfare.

This dream reminded me of the time (many years ago) when the Lord asked me a very specific question. The question was,

“Kathi, what would you say that the main source of the warfare is in your life?”

I have since that time learned that often when God asks you a question, rarely is He looking for you to answer it but is merely getting your attention to listen for His answer. After hours of pondering and attempts at answers (which received no response), I finally realized that I was to answer the question with a question,

“Lord, what is the main source of the warfare in my life?”

He answered immediately by saying,

“Daughter, it is lack of peace. If you had My peace in every situation in your life you would not have warfare. There is no warfare where there is peace.”

From that day on I began a journey to see the peace of God established in my everyday life (this journey was the source of my book, 30 Days to Breakthrough: Stepping Into Peace). As the peace of God became a constant presence in my life, rest was added to my soul. I use to deal with insomnia due to stress, worry and fear but now I have been able to sleep in the storm.

This rest took me from the posture of being a watchdog to being a watchman that can see from above and know when I need to move and when I need to “sleep in the storm.” Yet, even when I move or need to “sound an alarm” it is not from a place of “fierce attack mode” but from intentional trust and alignment with what God is doing. It is from a place of releasing light rather than wrestling darkness.

One more example happened just this week. Our church has a weekly prayer team that walks the streets of Portland to “prayer walk” the city. We have a few very discerning people who faithfully walk with our team. They are the type who can see where the enemy is and what he is doing. This week we were preparing to do a worship night in downtown Portland when one of these “discerning the darkness” people went out to prayer walk where we’d be having our worship night. Within two minutes of leaving the building he returned. He walked straight up to me and said, “As soon as I left the building the Lord asked me what I was doing. I realized that I had gone to see what the enemy was up to but the Lord wanted me to see what He was doing and told me to go back to where the worship was happening and focus on His presence.” That night we had the most profound worship we’d ever had without any battle to break through darkness. As each one focused on Him and what He was doing it brought in light that pushed back the darkness. We became watchmen rather than watchdogs. We aligned with Heaven and became soldiers of light.

God is calling for His watchmen to arise. To move and live according to the light and movement of heaven. This movement may “at times” look like sleeping in a storm because sometimes the enemy is stirring up a storm to exhaust us, engage us in a unnecessary battle and to create fear. We need to discern the light so that we can release the light that breaks the power of darkness.

Now, please know that I am well versed in the scriptures regarding “watchmen” such as Isaiah 62:6

“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest…”

There are many scriptures that call us to be alert, awake and to “sound the alarm” but the shift is that we can do that from His peace and spiritual rest rather than from reaction and fear. We can warn a brother, call a city to alert or sound an alarm from a place that does not create chaos but rather brings the army of God into divine order and alignment with the strategies of Heaven. His watchmen bring a oneness and unification of the angel armies and God’s army on earth. It discerns what the Father is doing and aligns us with the movement of heaven rather than the reactions of earth.

God is balancing and aligning His sons and daughters to respond to the wisdom from above so that the activities of earth do not have us in reactive chaos. This is the offensive posture that ushers in victory so that we are not beating at the wind and waves. Peace be still is our sound!
