Jeffrey and I wrote this Christmas devotional book together and called it “The Sounds of Christmas.” It is a beautiful hardbound book that has 25 stories and meditations themed around 25 different Christmas songs that ring forth the joy of our Savior’s birth.
This is perfect personal devotional or a family devotional. Isn’t it time to start a new Christmas family tradition?
Bring the “sounds of Christmas” to life with this wonderful book. It makes a great gift that is both personal and affordable at only $7.99!
Yesterday our church family was blessed to have Jonathan Tremaine Thomas (JT) from Civil Righteousness with us. During our time together he shared a profound dream about this time that we are living in and then shared these words,
“Our nation is under judgement and is on the brink of another civil war where there will surely be blood in our streets. But, we need to remember that we can cry out to God the words, ‘In judgement— remember mercy!’ This is our only hope for America. Cry out for mercy!”
I fully agree with JT’s words. I believe that October is a month to “cry out for mercy” like never before. As he spoke the words I saw in my spirit people in cities across our nation marching in unity and oneness, while crying out for mercy. I saw the words, “Mercy Marches.”
My family lives in a city where the most blood was spilled in the Civil War (Fredericksburg, Virginia) and our home is located on a Civil War Battlefield. I do not believe that it is a mistake or coincidence that God moved our family across the nation in January 2020 to occupy this ground with intercession and peace. From this place we will continuously cry out for “mercy to triumph over judgement!” No longer will we be a nation of brother against brother but rather we will link arms with our brothers and sisters to “be one even as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one!”
I want to encourage you, wherever you are, to prayer walk the streets of your city, to call to the Ecclesia in your city and to bow your knee and ask God to render a verdict of mercy upon our nation. I believe that there is a short window left before we see a real life civil war break out if we do not turn the heart of God through cries of mercy.
We are seeing many initiatives in our nation that have been gathering the Ecclesia to repent, worship, return and humble ourselves to pray. We were at “The Return” in Washington D.C. (and the Franklin Graham Prayer Walk)— I could feel a shift during this time. I was with Sean Feucht in Portland, Oregon and will be again here in Washington DC on October 25th. Around the nation God’s people are striking the ground over and over. My sense is that October is the final strike to turn the tide from judgement to mercy. Let us pray and cry out like never before!
“I have heard all about you, LORD. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.” Habakkuk 3:2 (NLT)
God loves mercy, He loves justice and He loves America. But because of His righteous justice, He brings forth judgement. Though God never changes— did you know that His people can change His mind from executing judgement to pouring out mercy? This is a time that we, His people, can turn a nation to be “saved in a day!”
Today— cry out for mercy! Do not delay but rather raise your voice, bow your knee and walk your city to cry out for mercy. It is time for “Mercy Marches” to take place across our nation!
If you would like to organize one in your city; write to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please stand with us in prayer and financial support as we move forward to organize “Mercy Marches” throughout America.
My husband and I have been a part of a global team that God has called together to steward a Trumpet Call To The Nations. Many nations are hearing a call from the Lord to break the curses and judgements off of the United States of America at this time so that we can walk as one! This global trumpet call will facilitate a place for a blessing from many nations and a receiving of that blessing from throughout our nation.
I will attach a letter from John Robb, who is facilitating this time. This will help give you greater understanding of what will be happening on 9/11/2020.
Trumpet Call to the Nations: Global 9/11Prayer for America
America is in a fight for her life! Under the guise of racial justice protests, Marxist agitators working through Antifa and Black Lives Matter as well as other communist-inspired organizations are trying to burn down U.S. cities and throw the country into revolutionary chaos as they have longed planned. They are being supported and financed by globalist elites wanting to create a socialist New World Order that aspires to control everyone on earth in a totalitarian system of world government. Overt satanism and witchcraft are also involved along with Islamic radicals in this attempted take-down of America, its government and way of life. The November 3 national election will be the most important one in our national history because it will determine whether the USA will become the willing tool of these forces or continue to stand for Judeo-Christian values, freedom, and human rights within this country and throughout our world.
How glad we in the American prayer movement were to hear that our Indonesian brothers and sisters in Christ want to rally the global Body of Christ to pray for America during this crucial time. Indonesian and American prayer leaders will co-host a global online prayer call via Youtube called “Trumpet Call to the Nations: Global 9/11 Prayer for America”. We will start in Jerusalem and be led from there to six American cities for a time of repentance and prayer over the USA. Please join us on September 11th, for this urgent 9/11time of seeking God’s face for the deliverance of America.
We need all hands-on-deck for this crucial initiative. Hope you can join us for this unique opportunity to connect with the Sovereign Lord of the universe and with Him shape the future through united prayer.
Recently, during a time of intercession, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Kathi, do you know what the enemy hates most of all? He hates my image in every created person.”
Instantly I understood why we are witnessing the depth of depravity regarding identity, gender, and sexuality that we see today. Last week’s Democratic National Convention featured a panel that hosted an individual who claims to be a “Black-Vietnamese, transgender nonbinary/gender transcendent mermaid Queen-King.” The attack against our children and our children’s children, regarding identity and the image of God that they were created to display, is beyond anything that we could have ever imagined in years past. If someone would have suggested that a political party would have hosted a panelist that claimed to be a “mermaid Queen-King” we would have shaken our heads and said, “That will never happen!” And yet it is happening.
What was yesterday’s insanity is today’s celebrated norm. The confusion and delusion is truly mind boggling. In saying this, there is no hate or lack of compassion for those who have been caught in this great deception because if Jesus were here waking the earth, these are the ones He would have dined with and told stories to that would have brought them to salvation. Oh, how He loves all who He has created; and we must do the same.
My point in bringing up this level of confusion regarding identity, gender, and sexuality is to point out that the enemy absolutely hates to have to look upon the image of God within you and me and our children. He wants to wipe it out; make it so distorted and diluted that God’s image within mankind is unrecognizable.
It is the greatest mockery of God’s creation. This mockery and perversion of true identity is a slap in the face of our crucified Savior. It is not only a great wound piercing the heart of Jesus but it is heart-breaking and heart-wrenching to every Christian parent that has loved their their precious son or daughter, dedicated them to Christ, sung over them lullabies of Jesus’ love, and raised them in the truths of the Word, only to see them caught in the trap of this great deception.
How do I know this? Because one of my beautiful children has been caught in this deception. All our other children and their spouses love the Lord with all of their hearts, but this one precious child has been stolen and is trapped in a life that is destroying the beauty of the image of God that she was created in. As a parent, who loved and nurtured such a beautiful creation, I find my heart so deeply grieved for such a waste of beauty and identity— I grieve for the loss of all of the plans that the Lord has for her life that are not being lived out.
But this article is not about my child but about “our children and our children’s children!” This may be one of the greatest attacks on mankind ever played out. So, what can we do?
Jesus is the great Intercessor and we must join Him as intercessors. When I hear a believer say that he or she is not a “great intercessor” (as if that were a calling such as a pastor, teacher or apostle) I immediately think, “Well, it’s time to become one!” We are all to have prayer and intercession be nurtured in our lives in the same way we nurture our lives with the Word of God. I’ve never heard a true Christian say, “I’m not a follower of the Bible.” We all know and understand that the Word of God is our lamp that lights our path; that is undisputed. So, why do we label some people “intercessors” and some not? If we want to see the image of God in our children and in the generation that is being born today, then we must join Jesus in His intercession for them!
“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” Romans 8:34
Rather than condemn, we must begin to intercede! We must allow our private times with the Lord and even our corporate times together to become times that we enter into His intercession. In 2016 I was involved in a time of corporate intercession, along with ten thousand other believers from all across the world, as we entered into the intercession of Jesus for the US elections. There was no mention of a particular candidate, but rather a crying out for His will to be done. I watched as thousands of Chinese men and women rushed to the front of this convention center in Jerusalem to “push” in prayer. It wasn’t even their nation being prayed for but they entered into the intercession of Jesus with groaning too deep for words.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26
The “wordless groans” were so deep and pure. They were bringing heaven to earth. The next day most of us were completely shocked by the election results— to this day I believe it was birthed in intercession by the nations of the world who entered into the intercession of Christ.
What if we began to do this for our children; for the preservation and revelation of “the image of God” that is within them? What if rather than another conference we gathered to intercede? If we grabbed the horns of the altar and did not let go until we saw the breakthrough?
“Adonijah was afraid of Solomon, so he rushed to the sacred tent and grabbed on to the horns of the altar.” 1 Kings 1:50
In the Old Testiment, Adonijah had sinned greatly and he knew to run to the altar and plead for mercy— and he received it and his life was spared.
Stephen S. Gibney writes this about the altar with the horns, “The altar has two meanings: the first meaning was that the altar symbolized the cross of Christ (Heb 13:10) and the second is that the altar symbolized fiery prayer (Lev. 6:13). One man said that, ‘Altars were places where the divine and human worlds interacted. Altars were places of exchange, communication, and influence. God responded actively to altar activity.’”
Rather than shaking our heads at the narrative regarding identity and gender in the world today, isn’t it time for us to go before the cross of Christ in fiery prayer and watch the divine world and the human world interact until we see a breakthrough?
This is a battle fought in heavenly places. What is being played out on earth is not fought on earth but in the place of intercession— the intercession of Jesus. If conferences and corporate gatherings were to become prayer meeting where we took hold of the horns on the altar and cried out for mercy, we could see our children saved from having their identity robbed and the image of God mocked.
Isn’t it time?
Thank you to all of our ministry friends who have stood with us in prayer and financial support during 2020! Youare our heroes. Please continue to stand with us as we stand for truth and righteousness in our nation and within the nations. We need you now more than ever.
If you would consider sowing a financial gift of support it would be greatly appreciated as we have much to do to see 2020 end well. To sow into our ministry go to: https://www.inscribeministries.com/
When we say that God’s ways are not our ways we truly aren’t kidding! Who could have ever guessed that the thing that was sent to separate us would be used to unite us like never before?
I have never seen so many nations, generations and denomination coming together day after day on ZOOM calls, FB Lives, online worship and prayer meetings! And as I’m sure that you’ve noticed; these are not quick “on the surface” times but they are deep, beautiful and life changing times together.
In the Fall of 2019 the Lord took me into a vision where I saw demons playing cards around a poker table and they had become so confident in their winning streak that they were about to put all their chips in the pot— betting it all in one hand. But in this vision the enemies cheating hand was about to be exposed and “he would overplay his hand” causing a great victory for God’s people and a great defeat for the enemy. The plunder would be transferred to God’s people.
This “separation” has definitely overplayed his hand and suddenly the enemy is losing at the hand he bet on! The body of Christ is rising up in her identity, they are coming together as one family now that there are no church walls or denominational names to divide them. Together they are repenting, changing, partaking of communion and giving generously in the midst of their time of need. What the enemy meant for harm is now healing His Ecclesia and making us one.
You can no longer get lost in a crowd because the crowds are gone and we are seeing each other with new eyes, new longings and new alignments. I keep hearing people speak the words, “We are all in this together.” And it is so true! The Aw entire world has been drawn into home, into family and into a church that has no walls, no denominational affiliation and no end. You can wake up anytime of the night and join with believers from around the world to worship or pray. While the family of God has been quarantined behind the doors of her homes she has begun the greatest outreach we’ve ever seen. Social media has opened the doors to our homes, our lives and our families where all are welcome.
I have probably wept more with the family of a God from around the world these past few weeks then in a long time. I’ve wept for joy at His goodness and His kindness as He unites our hearts. His bride is so beautiful! She is returning to First Love!
As Passover has begun I feel the awe of God as we have responded to Jesus knocking again the doors of our hearts and homes— we have let Him come in. He is ridding our hearts of unneeded things and making room for His communion table to be set. His blood has been placed upon the entrances (doorway) of our hearts and lives as we’ve allowed the finished work of the cross to be the center once again.
This morning as I was awakening from a dream I saw the Lord come and put His blood upon our foreheads, our hands and our feet. All the places that were pierced when He gave His life for us were being touched by the pure and perfect Passover Lamb’s blood; who has once and for all caused eternal death to pass us by.
As I saw this I felt a deep longing to go to every member of our family and take some of the juice from my communion cup and put a drop of it on their foreheads, their hands and their feet as an act of coming into agreement and announcing that we are covered with the blood of mercy (the Passover Lamb) that has made us clean once and forever! No plague (which in Hebrew is translated as “virus”) can separate us from the love of God or the eternal life purchased for us by Yeshua.
“For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.” Hebrews 10:10
What the enemy meant to separate and divide us has brought forth a greater oneness with Christ and with one another then we have ever experienced before this time. We do not forget the fact that lives have been lost and we grieve with those who grieve. But we cannot overlook the beautiful fragrance coming forth from the homes and lives of His people.
Yesterday, Bill Johnson was on an online gathering with our global family and he described how when you go into a jewelry store to purchase a diamond ring the jeweler will lay it upon a piece of black velvet because when a diamond is presented against a backdrop of darkness and then light is shone in it— it’s brilliance is displayed best.
The Lord is suddenly placing His Bride on display against a backdrop of global darkness and shining the light of His sovereignty, His love and His adoration upon her and “she is radiant and brilliant.” She is all together lovely! Her different facets are shining with the brilliance of a cut diamond.
I just want to take this moment to say to each of you; you have taken my breath away! Seeing your faces, the worship from your living rooms, and reading your words of devotion to God have been the greatest non-stop church service I’ve ever attended! Thank you! My “face time” with God has become all the more rich because I have been face to face with you. The worship of the nations has drawn me back to first love!
Thank you to all who have stood with our family and ministry during this time! No words can express our gratitude!
I began hearing the Spirit speak to me regarding calling a corporate daily communion from 4/4/2020 -4/8/2020 (Passover). Though I was sure that I’d heard this I wasn’t sure why until I woke up this morning. That’s when the “why?” began to be revealed.
How My Day Began:
I woke up this morning at exactly 4:44 a.m. and heard the Spirit speak the words from Ezekiel 44:4,
“Also He brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple; so I looked, and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD; and I fell on my face.” Then, as I began to pray, I once again saw the date before my eyes, 4/4/2020. Then saw four days of a corporate communion prior to Passover beginning on 4/4. Once again, I didn’t know why or what the significance of the date 4/4 was. The fifth day, Passover (on 4/8) would also be a day of partaking in communion and anointing the doorposts of your home in remembrance of His deliverance from captivity.
As I began to pray further into what I was seeing and hearing I was led to look up the date (4/4) this year to see if it means anything significant to the Jewish people.
Sure enough it does!
It is the last Sabbath prior to Passover and it is called, “Shabbat HaGadol” (“Great Shabbat” שבת הגדול). It is the Shabbat immediately before Passover. The first Shabbat HaGadol took place in Egypt on 10 Nisan five days before the Israelite Exodus. On that day, the Israelites were given their first commandment which applied only to that Shabbat, “On the tenth day of this month (Nisan)… each man should take a lamb for the household, a lamb for each home (Exodus 12:3).” This lamb is the lamb that would be sacrificed four days later and its blood placed on the doorposts of every Jewish home.
This explained the four days that lead up to Passover but I felt that there was something more; something specific that was on the Lord’s heart. Knowing that we are in a time like no other time before, where the whole earth is closed in, I could feel the depth of purpose behind this time of communion—but what was it? As I prayed more and researched more I finally found the piece that I had been looking for!
During the time when the Israelites were living in captivity in Egypt “the lamb” was considered a god (it was an Egyptian idol). After 400 years of living in the Egyptian culture many of the Jewish people had begun to accept Egyptian idols as a part of their belief system; they had abandoned the purity of Yahweh being their one and only God. But in His mercy He was breaking idolatry by asking His chosen people to take an unblemished lamb (this Egyptian “idol”) and set it aside to be sacrificed and it’s blood sprinkled on the doorway of every Hebrew homes. This act, which was going to be used to save the firstborn of every Jewish household, was also setting them free from the idolatry that had crept into their lives. They too, would be locked behind the doors of their homes and instructed to not go out until the “death passed by.”
This commandment to pick an unblemished lamb happened on the Sabbath prior to when the death angel would pass by the homes of the Jewish people, sparring their firstborn sons from the plague of death. Today the Jewish people remember this day and call it Shabbat HaGadol
God has said that there is a timeframe from 4/4-4/8 to break idolatry in the church. These are places that we’ve conformed to cultural beliefs and behaviors that have replaced the pure and simple truth that is found in “The Blood of the Lamb.” I saw in my spirit many thing “added” to the purity of His blood that was shed and those things were defiling His temple; which is us.
This is an essential time to come as God’s chosen people and set apart time each of these four days to partake in communion with your entire household. Each day we will acknowledge the spotless and pure Lamb of God who, by the shedding of His blood and breaking of His body, paid the price for the sin of the world. We will partake of the pure and simple truth of our salvation and deliverance from sin.
It is the blood of Jesus that speaks a better word and has the power to save us from this plague called Covid-19. It is time to see the glory of God fill the temple (Ez. 44:4) as we fall on our faces in humility and repentance. These days of communion will prepare our hearts to be sparred from death and delivered from every form of idolatry that has crept into the church. As we are locked in our houses, just like the Jews were during that first Passover, we will once again be saved and delivered from our captivity.
It’s time to see the power of the blood of Jesus come back upon the church. It’s time to believe the old hymn we use to sing,
“Would you be free from the burden of sin? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood Would you o’er evil a victory win? There’s wonderful power in the blood There is power, power, wonder-working power In the blood of the Lamb There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb Would you be free from your passion and pride There’s power in the blood, power in the blood Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide There’s wonderful power in the blood There is power, power, wonder-working power In the blood of the Lamb There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb There is power, power, wonder-working power In the blood of the Lamb There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb There is power, power, wonder-working power In the blood (in the blood) of the Lamb (of the Lamb) There is power, power, wonder-working power In the precious blood of the Lamb.”
The blood of Jesus is the only thing that will save us from this pandemic. It will deliver His people from idolatry and it will cause this curse to pass us by.
Will you join us as we partake in communion for four days (4/4-4/8)? There is power in the blood and a return to the cross of Christ.
As I was surveying the current state of the world around us, I was struck by the reality of the vast amount of distractions that have pulled on our “affections” prior to this Covid-19 quarantine.
From the activities of going to a restaurant for a meal– to seeing a movie– to shopping for one more thing– to attending a sports event(or watching one on TV)– we are constantly having our time filled with things that entertain and comfort us. Even Christian conferences, concerts and events have become a form of entertainment that has consumed the affections of many believers.
But suddenly they have all been removed. As I was pondering the issue of how all of these things that pull on our affections and how they have suddenly been removed I had a quick vision of idols falling. I don’t think that most people set out to or intentionally make any of these things idols but anything that exults itself above Christ or is vying for our attention and affections above God becomes an idol.
God, in His mercy, is aligning!
Prophetic voices have been prophesying “alignment” for a long time. We’ve been taking about the plumb line of God coming to align His people. It’s been happening on a small scale but not like we’d hoped or like we could see in the spirit. Now, suddenly it’s happening. We now can see the pull that these other things have had upon our affections— yes, even conferences and ministry events.
Are they bad? NO! Of course not. They are wonderful gifts but they were never meant to replace the personal, face to face time with our God. But if they become the focus of our affections that have replaced personal time with God and time in His Word then alignment is needed.
I remember when my husband and I had young children we felt to turn off cable and get rid of our TV because it had become a distraction to true face to face family time. The first week of its absence was like “going through withdrawals!” It had become the background noise in our home and it called for our attention to be turned toward it all the time. After that first week we adjusted and began spending greater quality time with God and with one another. Alignment took place in our family. We removed the thing that was becoming an idol because it was demanding our affections. Our souls wanted to be appeased which left our spirits malnourished.
As we go through this time let’s begin to take personal inventory of those things that have been removed that pull for our affections even more than God. We can repent and ask for alignment so that when these things are once again available we will live in alignment and balance. Let’s not have this crisis be a “mere moment” of sobriety from things that have become idols or distractions that have gained our affections above the Lord.
Ask the Holy Spirit to realign your priorities and the affections of your heart and soul. This truly is a moment in time that we are “coming back to our senses!”
I also want to encourage you to get face to face with your family members; those who are closed in with you! Let God rekindle the love between you and your spouse and let this be a time of restoration between parents and children. Share your hearts, carve out time that you walk together, play together, talk together and even heal together.
Let’s see our affections redeemed and those things that have become idols fall. Soon we will be able to eat out, see a movie, enjoy a sports event or attend a Christian gathering but let’s never again allow these thing to have a higher place then Jesus! May His throne in our private lives have the highest place!
For days now I have had a deep sense that the enemy is trying to change times and seasons. His plan is to prematurely initiate things that would “buy him more time” and stop the Church from occupying land that he has held.
God will use this “pandemic/epidemic” to usher the Church into a greater purity and into the governmental authority that we were intended to walk in. As many of God’s people have joined in the 40-day “Jesus Fast” and now (beginning March 18th) a three-day Esther fast— I believe that this fast is unto a greater purification and authority for the days to come.
The enemy’s plan is to take this global crisis into a global shift that would change times and seasons but as I was woken up at 3 a.m. to pray, I heard the words,
“I have enacted a preemptive strike of prayer that will cut this global demonic assignment short!”
Corporate prayer will stop this in its tracks! As prayer is partnered with the fasting that is happening on a global scale, we will see this come to a sudden and miraculous halt. In this hour we have all witnessed prayer meetings move from the boundaries of buildings to the seemingly limitless expanse of the internet. Nations are joining together as ONE FAMILY to pray, stand with one another and to be the corporate voice of the Bride. Theological differences (opinions) and cultural differences are being set aside to raise our voices as one voice.
In the midst of a global tragic pandemic a global incense of prayer is being released and it is beautiful! It is uniting His people in an offering of prayer and praise. It is John 17:21-23 coming upon the Church.
“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”
In the midst of what was sent to separate us and isolate us; God has raised up a way to come into times and places of corporate authority, unity and agreement in order to launch a preemptive strike of prayer. We may not be physically together but we are joined in our spirits and online as nations gather to humble themselves and pray as one!
We are praying with nations and names that we never have joined with before this crisis began. Our schedules and lives have been interrupted but God is using it to awaken us from a slumber that was allowing the enemy to dictate time and change seasons.
On Monday morning I was at a prayer meeting and while I was there I went into a vision. In the vision I was trying to wake up my oldest son, who is a very heavy sleeper (VERY heavy sleeper!). I heard his alarm go off but it did not wake him up so I went into his room and began to gently shake him; still he did not wake up. I then realized that the hour was late and began to shake him harder. Finally I shook him with a force that shook everything around him. With that he was awakened— just in time to not be late.
I immediately knew that it was a vision revealing that there are those who have been in a “hard sleep” that needed a forceful shaking to finally awaken. My oldest son is part of the millennial generation and I felt that is was also to further awaken those upcoming leaders who are now young adults. The enemy wanted to have these ones sleep through his attempt to change times and seasons until it was “too late.”
God is using this shaking to awaken many to keep and align with His times and seasons; with His heart and longings. As I went into intercession following the vision I found my mouth crying out the words, “Awaken us from this ‘hard sleep’ that has caused our hearts to slumber in the hour of need.”
A couple years ago I was given a very detailed dream of a younger millennial generation. In this dream they would not sleep as the disciples did while Jesus prayed in the garden on the night of his betrayal. They would remain awake and “give Him no rest— until the end…” (Isaiah 62:7). In this very detailed dream (which I’ll share at another time) God called this generation His “Third WatchGeneration.”
The third watch of the night is the midnight to 3 a.m. hours. There are four watches of the night; the fourth being from 3 am to 6 am which finishes the night. Many believe that we are in the “fourth watch” of the ages but in this dream the Lord clearly spoke and called the young adults of this day “The Third Watch Generation.” They may be the trip wire for the third great awakening. But it may take a great shaking (as we are experiencing) to awaken many of them from a “hard sleep” so that they, “Give Him no rest!” They may be the ones to usher in the fourth and final watch?
Let this shaking awaken every place in each of us that has been in a “hard sleep.” Let’s awaken to first love and not turn him away when He comes to knock upon the door of our hearts.
Throughout this week the words from Songs of Solomon 3:1-4 have been going through my spirit,
“By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him. “I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; In the streets and in the squares I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not findhim. The watchmen who go about the city found me; I said, “Have you seen the one I love?” Scarcely had I passed by them, When I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go, Until I had brought him to the house of my mother, And into the chamber of her who conceived me.”
In this time of shaking, prayer and fasting may we be like the bride running through the streets looking for the “one we love” and may we find Him, hold Him and not let Him go!
This shaking is causing a preemptive strike that stops the enemy from changing times and seasons but even greater— it is awakening first love! —————————-
Many of us have this verse highlighted in our Bibles, hung on the walls in our homes and written in our journals— but do we live it?
It is interesting to me that God began speaking to me right before the outbreak of this virus (or at least it coming upon the shores of our nation) that He was going to rightly align “beliefs and actions.” He began to show me areas of my life where I believe one of His truths (even have a strong conviction in that belief) but my actions have not aligned with it. Therefore, in that area I live in conflict with my own beliefs and in contradiction to my own convictions. God began to help me “take inventory” of the areas where these contradictions exist.
I understand that Psalm 46:10 is more of a “stillness from worry/anxiety (striving)” and an invitation into trust but how much of our busyness and restlessness comes from avoiding stopping? If we stop it causes us to look and see what is behind the veil of all our activity. When we can do nothing (physically or naturally) to resolve a situation we must come face to face with the truth of this verse and enter into the invitation to be still and watch Him move.
For the past year I’ve been hearing so many talking about the theme of a “Sabbath Rest” for God’s people. God has been speaking it to me as well. In the Jewish culture the Sabbath is set aside from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday evening. It is a time to focus attention on God and to abstain from work.
Is God using this quarantine and closures of airlines, public places and even group gatherings as an invitation into a Sabbath rest? Though Sabbath is only a day this call to a “Sabbath rest” may take a bit longer. But we can press in to it and see what the enemy has meant for evil become a spiritual reset into fully apprehending a stillness in our souls where we “cease striving and know that He is God”; even when the entire world is in crisis.
We may be in a spiritual Friday evening sunset where we take the time to allow God to align our beliefs and our action. It may be a time to allow God to wash our “garments” and it may be a time to return to first love.
In our 36 years of marriage, my husband and I find it very crucial to occasionally just stop everything and take a day or two away together. It is usually to the ocean where we can sit together and watch the sunset and rise with just the two of us. It is in those times that we rest, reset and stop long enough to recognize the areas that activity and busyness have been veiling. We get to go behind the veil of our ministry and parenting and working to see “us.” We see how we are actually doing as a couple and were our love is— and it gives us an opportunity to rekindle first love.
Though I do not know how long this “shut in” will last, I do want to take this opportunity to “be still.” By nature I am restless and my mind is constantly active with ideas and spiritual things; but I must learn to have a Sabbath rest. God took one and yet rarely do His people (especially since Sundays are often one of our busiest days!). Even on our days off we make plans of how to fill it with activities for getting things done that have been unattended to our or having fun as a family. Though these things are important— where is our actual Sabbath rest where we focus on God and abstain from work?
Yes, need to be praying during this time and we need to be His hands and feet to a hurting and fearful world during these hours, but we need to understand the times and seasons and this may be a call to a Sabbath rest.
Let’s discern well and respond well. What if our greatest form of intercession is the postures of, “Cease striving know that He is God?”
It may shift the atmosphere! The enemy seeks to wear out the saints of God and yet God calls us into rest. As we refocus and reset our affection upon Him we let the battle belong to Him.
I submit to you this word; this invitation to be still. Turn your gaze toward God and stop your works. Take a Sabbath rest. It may be dark but that is because the Sabbath begins at sundown. The dawn will awaken and we will spend a day resting in Him.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
