Finding Home

By Kathi Pelton

“Home” is a place where one lives. It is where we return after a day of hard work or school, it is the place that we find rest, comfort and belonging. It is said that “Home is where your heart is.”

I have lived in over thirty physical structures that I have called “home.” But there is only one place that is my true home— the place that my heart can be found and that my soul finds comfort and rest. That is in the presence and love of my God.

One of my favorite things to do is to make a house a home (and I’ve sure had plenty o opportunities to practice this passion!). I love to fill every space and corner with something that causes our family or our guests to find beauty and rest. Whether it’s our living room or laundry room, I want it to be warm and inviting. But if I did all of these things and removed the presence of Jesus it would only point people to beautiful things rather than the beautiful One!

I once met a homeless man that I drove across the city we lived in. He often came to our church with his few belongings and always a big smile. As I drove him that day I asked him what it was like to be homeless? We lived in an area where it rained a lot and winters could be very cold. When I asked the question, his face lit up and he said, “I am not homeless; I have found my home in Jesus.” Then he proceeded to tell me how he has found family among the homeless population and brings Jesus to them so that they can find a home in Him as well.

As we have all been quarantined with our “stay at home” orders I have discovered that it is not the beauty of my home that has sustained my soul but it is the beauty of His presence that has made my “stay home” order such a sweet time of refuge and peace. If Christ was removed it would merely be a house rather than a home. It would be a shelter but not a place of rest.

“My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest.” Isaiah‬ ‭32:18‬ ‭

If our houses (lives) are built upon the Rock of Jesus they will truly be “home.” They will withstand storms, seasons and be a refuge of safety.

“Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.” Matthew‬ ‭7:25‬

Bedrock is defined as the solid rock underlying loose deposits such as soil. It is also defined as the fundamental principles on which something is based. Christ is our bedrock in which everything else is built upon— based upon! He is home base!

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalms‬ ‭91:1-2‬ ‭

If you come into my house I know that you will feel safe; not because of the beautiful things but because the Lord is our shelter, refuge and place of safety. He is home! Buildings, mansions or castles don’t provide home; only Christ makes a home for every heart and every life. Everything else is void of true home and true shelter.

He stands at the door of our hearts and knocks— longing to come in and dwell with us. Let Him in to every part; every corner of your life! Then you will find that “Home is where your heart is.”

I want to thank all of my faithful readers who have stood with us with prayers and financial support during this time. You have displayed the faithfulness of Christ to us in such a tangible way. We pray for each of you by name and declare all of His promises to be made manifest in your home and family— thank you so very much!

May the Force of His Faithfulness Go Forth

by Kathi Pelton

There is a thief that is always seeking a way into your home in order to rob you and your family of peace, blessings, unity and prosperity. The devil prowls, looking for an entrance point that he can go in through. It seems as though he and his cohorts are more active than usual and the Lord told me that His people need to “establish their spiritual home security system”.

Then I saw in my spirit what looked like a red laser beam of light around a home that spelled out these words,

“… His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark…” Psalm 91:4

What is a “bulwark”? It is a defensive wall of protection.

Today is the day to install His bulwark around your life…declare His faithfulness around your life, your home and your loved ones. Remove every breach of doubt and unbelief and replace it with shouts that declare, “He is faithful!”

The red laser beam represents the blood of Jesus that has created a “blood line” of protection around your life and your home. The blood of Jesus will always declare His faithfulness! I see this “security system” installed by faith around businesses, ministries, churches, schools and even government buildings. The establishment of faith in His faithfulness will raise up a shield and wall of protection around these places that the thief has breached.

God is fortifying all that pertains to you and all of the blessings being sent upon you. As you declare His faithfulness, invite the angels to come and restore your blessings (all that was previously stolen) and to now be stationed round about your life, family and home.

“The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3

I am declaring over you that the unstoppable force of His faithfulness that was sealed by His blood will go forth on your behalf to guard you and all that pertains to you from everything that the enemy has sent against you!

His force is with you…happy May the Fourth!

He Sets the Lonely in Families

Kathi Pelton

I awoke in the wee hours of the morning and had these words rushing through my entire being,

“God sets the lonely in families…”

Psalm 68:6

The words washed over me like a cool breeze on a hot day and like water to a thirsty soul. I could hear the cries of the lonely; longing to be placed in true family. It was the cry of the sinners and the cry of the saints followed by the tender yet passionate response of the Father saying,

“I have heard your cry, I have seen your loneliness and I am preparing a family for you.”

Then I saw Him command angel to go and appoint true fathers and mothers, sons and daughters to be fruitful and multiply. The angels were bringing the resources, the support, clearing the way and placing apostolic mantels on those who would be instrumental in releasing the true heart of the Father everywhere they were sent.

As I saw true families created and the lonely placed within them it became fertile soil for a restoration. Hearts were restored, relationships were restored, honor was restored, hope was restored and even giftings were restored because they were protected and nurtured by the love of family.

As a young believer I was often in atmospheres that were “gift” driven but the true longing of my soul was for family. My gift was often noticed far before who I really was; His daughter. This created a performance based belief were I thought that “I am my gift” and that is the measure of my value in the body of Christ. God refused to leave me in that place and nurtured me in ways that restored me to my true identity of “daughter”.

Within family gifts flow without jostling one another or competing with one another. Within family there is rejoicing by all when one succeeds and weeping by all when one falls down. All are honored and all are celebrated and no one is forgotten.

When my family set out on our first missions journey, leaving our home and country, we asked each of our young children what Jesus was saying to them as we set off together. Our youngest son, Jonathan David (who was six year old at that time), turned to us with boldness and said these words,

“Mommy, Jesus said to me the word, ‘Ohana’. Ohana means family and family means that no one gets left behind.”

He had learned the Hawaiian word “Ohana” (which means family) from a Disney movie and the Spirit sweetly spoke to our six year old in a language that he would understand. This word is still today the sweetest word that has ever been spoken to me. It is the true word of the Lord.

Family is the longing of God’s heart. It is the reason for creation and it is the true inheritance of Jesus. It is the root of unity (John 17:20-23) and it is the target of all of the enemies activity.

The Father hears your cry for a family. He longs for all of His children to be nurtured within the safety of family. He intends for all of His disciples to first be sons and daughters; because then they will reproduce sons and daughters.

I believe that the reformation that is coming upon the church worldwide will first and foremost be identified by “family”. It will be marked by true fathers, mothers, sons and daughters that are being fruitful and multiplying fathers, mothers, sons and daughters…the generations walking together; celebrating and honoring all.

I will finish this by declaring the words that the Spirit spoke to my young son. May they be added to your life,

September marks a time of changing seasons. It is the gateway of Fall; weather turns brisk, sweaters come out of the closet and leaves begin to change colors. It always feels like a time where we begin nestle together inside of our dwelling places and find HOME again.

For me, the word “dwell” comes to mind when September arrives. Family gatherings will begin to be planned and the preparations begin. In my home September is the time of pumpkin candles being burned, muffins and pies cooking in the oven and firewood being cut outside. Home becomes a cozy place to dwell.

Did you know that the Holy Spirit loves it when we prepare our hearts as His home to dwell in? Just like my family loves the preparations in our physical home for each new season, so does the Holy Spirit love it when we prepare a home for Him to dwell in.

Ephesians 2:22
And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Isn’t it amazing that God lives in us by His Spirit! We need to be both deliberate and excited about preparing the home in our hearts for Him. What are some things that He loves?

~ Unity
~ Humility
~ Mercy
~ Forgiveness
~ Thanksgiving/Gratitude

And so much more!

As you prepare your home for fall also remember to prepare your heart for the Lord to dwell in. Make it a place that He loves and finds true “home” within.

One evening during the holiday season last year I was overtaken by the presence of God who said to me, “I love your home and how you prepare it with such care.” I was overwhelmed with His pleasure and it was the best compliment I have ever received. Then He said that He loves the home I’ve prepared in my heart as well. Wow, I was speechless.

May God be able to say those words to each of us. As we prepare our homes for family this fall may we also prepare our hearts for God to feel at home within.
