Two nights ago I was in that place between deep sleep and coming awake when I either had a dream or a spiritual encounter where I began to hear the words,
“All dominion belongs to Yahweh! All dominion belongs to our God! All dominion belongs to King Jesus.”
As these words were being declared, a crown of dominion was being placed on the head of Jesus (the One with many crowns).
As this happened I saw the “Dominion Voting Machines” that have become so controversial regarding election integrity. I looked at the machine but there were powers and forces that were over it and that were part of massive scheme to overthrow America being a Christian nation. These powers had stolen dominion and authority away from the American people. The machine was like the crown or throne that executed a vast and multi-layered plan to rob the American people of their vote and their will.
But, the Ecclesia rose up and began declaring that ALL DOMINION BELONGS TO THE LORD! As this happened— dominion was removed from the thief and was placed in the hands of God’s people to put as a crown upon the true King…the only King: Jesus.
The word dominion means this:
Definition of dominion 1 : DOMAIN (an area of territory owned or controlled by a ruler or government) 2 law : supreme authority : SOVEREIGNTY having dominion over the natural world 3 dominions plural, Christianity : an order of angels
The law or supreme authority— the sovereignty belongs to Jesus! We give our Lord and King, Jesus Christ, dominion over the natural world just as he has supreme authority and sovereignty over the heavenly realms. The world is the Lord’s and everything in it!
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.” Psalm 24:1
By the authority of Jesus Christ we remove all dominion from those who have devised evil and have exercised unlawful acts and plans against the American people. We break the power that has usurped our constitution, our rights and our voice. We restore ALL dominion and all sovereignty back to the One who reigns in love, faithfulness, righteousness and peace. The Lord who is full of justice and mercy.
Declare these words: Dominion belongs to the Lord of Angel Armies! Dominion belongs to the Lord of Hosts, Dominion belongs to the One true and sovereign God— Yahweh! According to His name, we the people of Yahweh, remove all dominion, rule and power from those who have made themselves enemies of God and we give it back to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
“Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one. “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.” But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury. For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.” The king proclaims the Lord’s decree: “The Lord said to me, ‘You are my son. Today I have become your Father. Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession. You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’” Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth! Serve the Lord with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling. Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities— for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!” Psalms 2:1-12 (I am writing this in December 21 which in many nations is written as 21/12)
I woke up from a dream this morning as the sound of a massive “shot” or “backfire” sounded in my dream. As I woke up I heard the words, “A divine backfire.”
The meaning of backfire is this: A plan or action— rebound adversely on the originator; have the opposite effect to what was intended.
Today, 12/12, is the 40 day mark since the November 3rd election. In the Biblical story of when David faced Goliath the Philistine army had mocked the Israelite army and their God for 40 days. On the 40th day to young David goes out without the armor of a warrior and with merely a stone and sling to face Goliath. It was David’s confidence in the name of Yahweh, that took Goliath down by the mere shot of a stone.
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.” 1 Samuel 17:45-46
The mocking accusations backfired on the Philistines that day!
When I heard in my dream the backfire or shot, I woke up and saw the stone hit the head of Goliath and the sound of the shot as struck his head. Then I heard the words, “The shot heard around the world.” As this spirit that mocks hits the ground it will shake the nations with the fear of the Lord.
Today is a backfire day! Crown Jesus King of Kings!
As most of you know, on December 21,2020— on the darkest day of the year (first day of winter: shortest daylight of the year), around the globe we will see the night sky lit up with what looks like a Christmas star. In reality it will be the first time in 800 years that Jupiter and Saturn meet together to create “light in the darkness” or a “Christmas star.”
Two months ago the Lord began speaking to me about a “meeting” (joining or kiss) that would take place after the conclusion of Hanukkah. I shared it with some but most people’s minds were on the election and not on what would happen in December. The Lord told me that there would be a manifestation of Psalm 85:10 that would occur,
Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
The meaning of the name Jupiter is “The Supreme God” and the meaning of the name Saturn is “The God of the Harvest”! In the midst of darkness they will meet together and kiss the earth with a sign of light! I realize that these name meanings were based on mythology and Greek gods but I also understand that God created these planets and I believe that their names actually point to our true “Supreme God” and “God of the Harvest” (capital “G” God— not small “g” god).
What awe and wonder we will see and encounter! Our Supreme God will kiss the harvest and many will know that He alone is God. This may just be the beginning of the great harvest that we have all prayed for and awaited.
12/21 will mark a great turnaround and alignment where love and faithfulness, righteousness and peace meet together and kiss creation! 2020 may have been the threshold of entering the greatest harvest the world has ever seen as light penetrates darkness. Hearts were aligned, His people met together in the midst of great separation, His remnant church was awakened and bought pure oil for her lamp. The global Ecclesia declared Jesus as King throughout the world as one bride and one body joined with one God! What a glorious sight as heaven and earth have aligned. Let earth receive her King!

December 1st was such a significant day in prayer for America. The dawn of this new month, the 12th and final month of 2020, was ushered in by the nations gathering in prayer to stand with us, decree with us and see the will of the Lord established in our nation. I had the honor of being a part of the panel on this online global prayer gathering.
During our time of worship I kept seeing our nation going through a rebirth. As I was seeing this, one of the prayer leaders from the UK sent a text saying that she was seeing the final stages of a birthing (after a hard labor) and that the nations were the midwives for this birthing of America. This was confirmation of what I had been seeing but I knew that there was still something more.
As we continued in worship I received another message from a brother in Canada. It was a long message that I wasn’t able to read but within it’s context I saw the words, “…the US is a Joseph nation…” The moment my eyes saw those words I went into a vision regarding our nation. In this vision i saw America like young Joseph, who had been given the coat of many colors. His joy and even his confidence was in the coat or “this mantel given” to him (the call). Then I saw Joseph (who represented America in this vision) lay the coat of many colors down at the feet of Jesus. He bowed before him in humility and repented for putting his confidence in the gift rather than in the Lord alone. In this vision, as soon as he laid down the gift that the Father had given him at the feet of Jesus, the rebirth took place. This time I saw it resembled the birth of our Savior, born in humility; a humble King. The authority was never to come from the gift or the call but from humbling ourselves before our true King. The Father had given America a gift that was to be laid at the feet of His dear Son.
Together, during the global gathering (on the morning of December 1st), together, this Joseph nation called America, laid down the coat of many colors at the feet of our King, and we were rebirthed into the posture of humility that Jesus carried when he came to earth. We presented our gift to the true King.
If this bears witness with you, take a moment to join in the prayer that declares, “Today we lay down every source of strength, authority and confidence in anything other than full submission to King Jesus. We receive this rebirth into humble authority that serves rather than controls. We lay the coat of many colors at the feet of Jesus.”
This greatly pleases the heart of the Father, who gave America this coat. Now, like Joseph, we can govern with humble authority and wisdom that restores our fathers, our brothers and the nations of the world.
December is a month to bring gifts to the King! Jesus is the One who hung upon a tree to fulfill why He came to earth. In this month where we hang ornaments upon a tree and place gifts under it; let us bring our greatest gifts and put them at the feet of the One who gave his all. As a nation (and the nations of the world), may we bring all that has been given to us and offer it as a gift of full surrender and submission to our Savior and King, Jesus.
They sang, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 7:12
We begin this 12th month by declaring together that all blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power and strength belong to our God forever and ever!! AMEN!
In this month of giving I believe that the Lord wants to release his promise that comes with giving out of Luke 6:38 upon his people. It is the overflowing and poured out blessing upon those who give. If you desire to give a financial gift to our ministry, go to: https://www.inscribeministries.com/
In late 2019 my family received a prophetic word about General George Washington crossing the Delaware River on Christmas night 1776 (establishing the first victory for the continental army in the Revolutionary War). This confirmed the timing of our family’s move from the West Coast to the Washington DC region to begin the assignment God was asking us to go on. Yet— we knew that there may be more to this prophetic word then merely the timing of our move.
Then on 11/11/2020, while in Plymouth, Massachusetts with a group of national prayer leaders, the prophetic word about “crossing the Delaware” was brought up in conversation and a trusted (and keenly prophetic) friend said, “That has a much bigger meaning than the timing of your move!” When she said this is was like the word was prophesied over us once again. It was fresh and new.
During our time in Plymouth we added our signatures to the original Mayflower Compact and the Lord helped pen a new covenant/compact for this group to make with Him. We signed it and sealed it on the 400th anniversary of the pilgrims coming to our shores.
The next morning, only moments prior to leaving Plymouth we met a woman who was deeply hurting and “battle weary” from a lifetime of pain. I had the honor of leading her to the Lord and watching the bitterness of the battles wash away into the river of the overcoming love of Jesus. Her first name is Norma, which means: Precept. The definition of precept is this, “A precept is a rule or direction, often with some religious basis, dictating a way you should act or behave. Precepts are life lessons that are usually passed down to children by leaders/authority figures such as parents, teachers, or religious figures (I’ll return to this point and why it is significant in a moment).
For some unknown reason to us, right before leaving our time with our new friend and new sister in the Lord, she told me us her middle name, Lorraine. Well, my husband and I looked at each other in amazement because that is my middle name as well!! It means, “famous in battle”, overcomer or famous army. This lady and I had almost identical childhood trauma (which is why I could minister to her so readily) and we shared the same middle name; a name that represents a great battle that is overcome and becomes historic or famous. Her first name represented what we are fighting for in our nation and why we were in Plymouth— to secure the precepts of the original Mayflower compact and to receive a new covenant to secure for our children and their children! We also are in a great battle in our nation that will decide the behaviors, rules and precepts we will align with in the days ahead. Her salvation felt like a sign of the “conversion of a nation coming back to God.”
As we left Plymouth we put our home address into our navigation phone’s GPS and expected it to take us on the exact route as we took going to Plymouth. As we drove through the state of New Jersey we began to notice that our GPS had taken us off the “original path” and through a rural landscape. Not knowing where we were (but trusting our navigation system) we forged ahead. At one point we found ourselves on a narrow bridge crossing a river. As we crossed over the sign in front of us read, “Welcome to Washington Crossing”— I just about jumped out of my seat and quickly got my phone out to look for the name of the river that we had just crossed— YES— you guessed it! We had just crossed the Delaware River!
I knew that the journey we have been in the past year has been a prophetic one but this was a huge piece and significant moment! As we crossed the Delaware I felt like Miriam when she and the people of Israel crossed the Red Sea— I felt like dancing! I knew that God was saying that a miraculous crossing was about to happen and we would see a great (and soon to be famous) battle won that would secure the precepts of our nation. In my spirit I could see Moses and George Washington as they both faced impossible crossings that would establish victory and freedom from tyranny. I saw the bold courage that they carried as “men who brought nations into deliverance” come upon our leaders and upon the Church. This courage carried a mantel of great faith which gave bold courage in the face of certain defeat. God was about to do the impossible and reveal that He alone is the great I Am!
My family crossed the country a year ago between the dates of December 26th – January 10th. These dates are highlighted once again to me. We are in a true spiritual and national battle that the global Ecclesia will need to battle in prayer throughout the month of December but I sense that there will be a crossing over that begins on Christmas that will secure a victory over what appears to be sure defeat.
We cannot look at what our eyes see because we will merely see a sea before us and a great enemy army at our backs. We must keep our eyes upon the Lord and trust in Him! Can we, even now, establish the precept of “In God We Trust?” In the midst of tyranny, oppression, the seeking to remove religious freedoms and a plethora of anti-Christ agreements— will we trust God or will we shrink back in the fear of men and in what appears to be sure defeat. We lay everything down to see the glory of the Lord established in our nation and throughout the nations of the world.
Let us receive the mantel of Moses and the bold courage of George Washington, who both faced the impossible and believed that in the face of sure defeat, it is God who can establish our victory.
“Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? Last November, our family was praying about moving from Oregon to Virginia. We knew that the Lord had directed us to do this, and we knew that the timing of our move was of strategic importance. As we waited upon the Lord, a dear friend who is a part of our prayer team came to our house and brought Jeffrey and me a prophecy she had received. She saw General George Washington crossing the Delaware River on Christmas night.
Even though we didn’t enjoy planning a cross-country relocation during the holiday season, we knew it was a genuine word from God, and we needed to be prepared to go; and we did.
But there is more to the story, and it applies to the time we all find ourselves in.
In December 1776, Washington had planned to cross the Delaware to attack a garrison of enemy troops stationed in Trenton, New Jersey. The river was frozen, and the conditions were so harsh that though Washington’s attack was to comprise three separate crossings, only one out of three could cross—and the successful vessel contained George Washington himself. Prior to the crossing, Washington’s carefully planned timetable was so badly behind schedule because of the weather that he contemplated canceling the attack.
Across the river, a spy had warned the British army that this surprise attack would take place, but the commanding general was arrogant and believed it to be another “false alarm,” so he did not prepare his troops. Washington’s crossing and surprise attack secured the Continental Army’s first major military victory of the Revolutionary War. The courageous decision by General Washington was clearly a “succeed or die” scenario.
Now, back to the prophetic word given to us regarding “crossing the Delaware”…
Jeffrey and I were in Plymouth, Massachusetts for the 400-year anniversary of the arrival of the Mayflower and its pilgrim passengers carrying the Mayflower Compact. During our time, I mentioned the prophesy to a prophetic friend, and she said, “Oh, that is very prophetic; way beyond your move to Virginia.” When she said that, it hit my spirit with a clear witness that caused it to be at the forefront of my mind.
As I write this article, we are returning to Virginia from Plymouth, Massachusetts, and driving through stormy weather. Our GPS, instead of sending us the route we had taken several days earlier, instead revised our course through unexpected rural territory. We found ourselves in a tiny town in New Jersey and on a perilous one-lane bridge crossing a river. As we crossed, the sign ahead of us read “Welcome to Washington’s Crossing.”
Unknown to us, we had just crossed the Delaware River at the very location Washington had on Christmas Day in 1776. We were surprised and recognized the prophetic significance, as we were traveling in a storm, during a time that our nation is once again in a battle.
The British army was warned that the continental army would cross and attack, but its leader was arrogant and did not believe. Therefore, he was not prepared—which gave Washington the victory! I believe that our “prophetic rerouted surprise” should speak to us all. General Washington considered canceling his surprise attack because of adverse conditions. But somehow, he received courage to proceed.
I believe that this is a picture of what we face today in the United States. We are in a war for our freedom, for the upholding of our righteous foundations so we might remain “one nation under God!” Our president is in a battle with such harsh conditions surrounding him that there is surely a struggle to know whether to forge ahead or concede defeat. He is looking at an impossible crossing, but we must believe that God will put on him a spirit of courage given General Washington—or perhaps even Moses, when the Red Sea stood before him and God’s people.
The enemy is mocking with arrogance, confident of victory, but God will bring a surprise attack that will give us a much-needed triumph.
We must pray for our president to have a courage to finish what he has planned no matter what he faces! Freedom is coming to our nation. I see light and freedom coming. I believe that from now until just after Christmas, we need to battle and have courage because WE WILL CROSS OVER!
The crossing of the Red Sea with Moses and the crossing of the Delaware with General Washington are both historic accounts that speak prophetically into the times we are now living. Both crossings were successful.
We are living in times that can quickly provoke the soul to agitation, even anger, everywhere we turn if we are not diligent to “trust in the Lord.”
Here in the United States, election years always release a spirit of division, opposition and agitation. This election year is like no other; the battle is on a whole different level and the landscape feels like the beginnings of a civil war. Now we have added the Supreme Court nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the already charged atmosphere. If you watch those hearings for five minutes and your sure to become agitated no matter what side you are on!
We must go up higher in our spiritual posture and let our roots go deeper in the soil of His ways. God’s people can stand up for righteousness, goodness and truth without stirring up the atmosphere with soulish agitation. We must remember that we are on the brink of a literal civil war here in America, therefore, we need to be those who hold the standard of truth in righteousness. We have authority to shift atmospheres through our worship, our words, our intercession and our love— let us not be the trip wire that takes us from civil unrest to civil war!
Psalm 37 is an excellent guide for these times. The very first verse instructs us on how to conduct and restrain our souls,
“Do not be agitated by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong. For they wither quickly like grass and wilt like tender green plants.” Psalms 37:1-2
DO NOT BE AGITATED! They spring up quickly but wilt before becoming strong or mighty tree— they wilt like tender green plants. Psalm 37 goes on to say,
“Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday. Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans.” Psalms 37:3-7
This past January the Lord moved our family to the Washington D.C. region from the West Coast. He was very clear in His instructions to “dwell in the land” as 2020 began. We had no idea why or what was coming but the one thing we carry with us (no matter where He sends us) are the instructions from Psalm 37:3, “Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely.” Our favorite version says, “…dwell in the land cultivate faithfulness.” That is what we do!
As God moves us to a new location we first establish our trust in the Lord and do what is good before Him and to those around us. Then we cultivate faithfulness— we live by faith, we plants seeds of trust, we practice peace and ask Him to “dwell with us.” Then we watch Him act on our behalf and on behalf of the people and land that He has placed us in.
The only other thing that we came to this region carrying was a powerful prophetic dream that I had in May 2019 of seeing “In God We Trust” restored in our nation. So, once again we cultivate trust— then we know that— “He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like noonday.”
We moved to a city just south of DC that is the home of the national ministry (movement) called, “Awaken the Dawn” so when I read, “making your righteousness shine like the dawn”, I know that we are called to awaken righteousness and a movement of righteousness from this place through prayer and worship. We are in DC weekly where there is a hearing regarding justice happening even now— God will act and make our justice come forth like the noonday. HE WILL ACT AS WE TRUST! Noon is coming.
We are the Church and it is up to us to cultivate faithfulness and trust in the place that He has planted each of us! You may wonder why you are in the city or state that you are but let me suggest that you are there to cultivate the land, to hold the line and to establish righteousness and justice through your commitment to walking in HIS WAYS!
Let’s not cultivate agitation! We become agitated when we do not understand our enemy! Our enemy wants to provoke us so that we focus on being robbed, cheated, lied to and deceived. Though these things are true (and always have been— we are merely seeing with 20/20 vision now), the shift and change will not come through weapons of the flesh but through weapons of the Spirit! Peace, trust, righteousness, faithfulness and walking in His ways will cause God to act! Refrain from anger!
Let’s look at another few verses from Psalm 37,
“Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated — it can only bring harm. For evildoers will be destroyed, but those who put their hope in the Lord will inherit the land.” Psalms 37:8-9
It’s time to inherit the land! But anger and agitation will only bring harm! God will destroy evildoers as we put our hope in the Lord and refrain from soulish reactions. The humble will inherit the land— not the arrogant evildoers who seek to provoke you to leave your place of trust and engage in their divisive and hateful tactics. Verse 11 says,
“But the humble will inherit the land and will enjoy abundant prosperity.” Psalms 37:11
It goes on to say, “The wicked person schemes against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him. The Lord laughs at him because He sees that his day is coming.” Psalms 37:12-13
Psalm 37 is a verse for this time! It paints a picture of how we are position ourselves to inherit the land and to prosper. I greatly admonish you to heed His instruction by refraining from agitation, the ways of the world and the provocation of the enemy. Trust in the Lord and do good— then God will act!
I also greatly encourage you to read, study and meditate in Psalm 37 during this time because it His wise instruction of how to inherit the land.
“Wait for the Lord and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land. You will watch when the wicked are destroyed. I have seen a wicked, violent man well-rooted like a flourishing native tree. Then I passed by and noticed he was gone; I searched for him, but he could not be found. Watch the blameless and observe the upright, for the man of peace will have a future.” Psalms 37:34-37

As you enter this Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, it is a time of new beginnings, renewed faith and breaking out of the old patterns that have hindered you so that you can embrace God’s perfect patterns and ways.
Rosh Hashanah means “Head of the Year.” It is the day that determines and sets into motion the rest of the year ahead. Just like our heads (minds, thoughts, decisions) determine our path and our actions so is it believed in the Jewish faith that this time determines the days ahead.
In 2019 I had a profound experience that began right before Rosh Hashanah when I heard the Spirit speak and say, “It’s coronation day.” I saw the Lord ask His bride to kneel before before Him and He was crowning her as His Queen. I knew that it was an “Esther moment” for the church where she would begin to walk in greater authority and favor. Because of this experience many believers throughout the world bowed before the King together to receive this coronation— the crowning of His queen.
Then, as we know— soon after Rosh Hashanah 2019 (5780), we began to hear the first reports out of China of a virus that had the name “Corona” within it; meaning crown. We paid little attention to it as it was so far from our shores and from our thoughts. But, within months it would change the entire world. I believe that the enemy is so threatened by the authority of God’s Bride that he devised a plan to stop and usurp the authority of the Ecclesia from establishing what God desired. But, as most of us know, this has severely backfired and the Church is rising up in greater global unity and authority than ever before. All I can say is, “Who can stop the Lord Almighty?”
As we approached Rosh Hashanah 2020 (September 18) I had another experience that was similar to the one I had in 2019, when the Son crowned His bride. This time I heard the words, “Coronation of the Son.” I immediately saw God’s people crowning Jesus as King of their lives, King of their nations and King of the universe.
Days after this experience I was on a Zoom call with a few of our international family members where I shared this experience. A Messianic Jewish man (Asher Intrater) was on the call with us and he began to explain to us that a key part of Rosh Hashanah is to proclaim God as “King of the Universe.” It is a coronation proclamation.
You can enter into this “Coronation of the Son” to begin this “Head of the Year” by proclaiming these words,
“Jesus, you are the only Savior, you alone are God, you are King of my life, you are King of the Earth, you are King of the Universe and you reign forever and ever.”
As you crown the Lord, King of your life at the head of the year, you are also proclaiming that you are the “head and not the tail” because you are His bride and His queen. His reign has given you authority to make decrees and proclamations that must be upheld. You can decree and it will be established when you do so from the place of bridal authority and from the power of His blood.
This new Hebrew year, 5781, means, “strong silence in the mouth.” To better understand what this means we can look at the blood of Jesus. Though no sound is heard, it is able to redeem, resurrect and restore.
“You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks a better word of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.” Hebrews 12:24
The blood of Jesus— though silent— speaks a better word! It speaks and establishes forgiveness, justice, truth and righteousness. As His blood poured down the cross and out upon the ground, it spoke of the greatest love and sacrifice that will ever be known to mankind. It declared that “whoever believes shall be saved and have eternal life!”
I believe that this year we are being called to enter into the “finished work of the cross” where the silent blood of Jesus speaks more loudly than any voice heard on earth. This silence represents an inner rest. It is a year to enter into His rest, even to strive to enter into His rest.
Though we have come out of the previous year (5780) far more aware of our weaknesses, more aware of our shortcomings and having wrestled with God which has left us with a limp— we will come up out of this wilderness leaning upon our Beloved.
“Who is this coming up from the wilderness leaning on her beloved?” Song of Solomon 8:5
To lean upon another is to depend on them, trust in their strength and to steady yourself with their uprightness. We are trusting in and resting in His faithfulness, goodness, righteousness, holiness, justice, mercy and grace. We are invited into cease striving so that we know that He alone is God and King of all. Do not overly concern yourself with your weaknesses or with your limp because “the greater the limp— the greater the leaning will be.” Lean into Him (and upon Him) like never before.
As we make Christ our resting place (not merely a place to visit but a place to dwell and call “home”) then in turn we become a resting place and dwelling place for Him. Isaiah 66:1 says,
This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?”
Then it goes on to say,
My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the LORD, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.”
As we proclaim Jesus as King of our lives and King of the universe— we are aligning our lives for a year of blessings, favor, prosperity and peace. Though the world rages in chaos and strife; God’s people will find rest, peace and blessings as they live in His reign and His favor.
Thank you to all ofmy readers who have supported our ministry in 2020 through prayer and financial support. We could not have made it this far without you! We pray for you continuously and declare multiplied blessings upon you!
We are all made of body, soul and spirit. Because of that, we cannot separate one from another. When our body hurts it affects our soul and spirit— this is true with our souls as well (mind and emotions). When I was young my soul was leading the way— taking me down winding paths of chaotic and often unnecessary turmoil. I made decisions that were based on emotions and viewed the world from whatever my emotional state was on that particular day. This didn’t immediately change after my salvation experience but took years of having the Holy Spirit teach me how to let Him lead. I had to learn how to submit my thoughts and emotions to the peace of Christ and the truth of His word— I had to be given a “renewed and sound mind.”
2020 has been a year that is “supercharged” with mental and emotional extremes. First the pandemic and quarantine (which would have been enough), then the death of George Floyd that turned our nation into something unrecognizable with riots and violence, great political unrest, hatred toward our police, divisions about race and now our entire West Coast in flames. It is enough to challenge the most stable person.
I don’t recount the hard things to remind you of what is negative but to help you to understand that in the midst of all of this there is a real mental warfare that is being fought by all. We live in the Washington DC region and meet with leaders here weekly and they all will tell you that the greatest personal warfare they have to contend with is the “mental warfare.”
So- what does that look like? Often it will hit your soul in a way that causes you to want to disengage and isolate; self-quarantine begins to sound awfully attractive in these times. Many will begin to want to escape into a sort of denial by watching TV or reading or doing whatever is their escape mechanism. These things are not bad if they are in balance but those being hit with mental warfare will sink into these things like a drug that separates them from all the pain.
Another form of mental warfare will come in the form of panic and anxiety that leaves a person feeling as though there is no escape. Thoughts of running or even death will consume their souls. Some people begin to get suspicious of people plotting against them or thinking obsessively about the negative political atmosphere, conspiracies, etc. Some get angry and cynical while others get depressed and hopeless. In any case, the peace of Christ and the perspective of His Spirit will begin to fade away.
This mental warfare must be dealt with and recognized as it begins to take hold; before it takes over! For example, I had a day recently where I felt exhausted and just didn’t want to engage in anything that was on my plate for that day. It was an unnatural exhaustion (I had plenty of rest the night before) that hit my body and my soul. I took time to rest that day but the more I rested the more tired I became and the more I wanted to disengage from everything. I quickly realized that this was mental warfare because I didn’t even want to spend time with the Lord, with people I love and didn’t feel joy in the Lord— just “blah.”
I had to get up and begin praying in the spirit, turn on some worship music and exercise my spirit until my soul submitted. After a short time I suddenly felt my energy return and I could think clearly, see clearly and felt joy return. It reminded me of when I’m dealing with low blood sugar and I feel disoriented and fatigued but then I eat something and suddenly I’m back to normal— clear headed and energized.
We are living I times that require our minds, our thoughts and our emotions to be submitting to His Spirit and to the truth of His Word like never before. God has promised us a sound mind but we must do our part to walk in it and keep walking in it.
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Fear is like a “power outage” to the soul. Everything goes dark! We must ask for God’s power to remain strong within us so that we walk in the light. For me a key for staying mentally clear is found in Philippians 4:8,
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Train your mind to focus and think upon these things!!
Most of my family and friends are living on the West Coast and they are dealing with raging fires, evacuations and all sorts of chaos. My mind is with them constantly but if I allow myself to think upon the “what if’s” or the fear then the “power goes out for me!” Darkness will overtake light and I will be ineffective in my prayers and support of them. I must put my hope and faith in the promises of God for those that I love and think on those things as I pray. My prayers must be from the place of light (and peace) and not darkness (and fear).
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
My peace effects my prayers! Therefore my mind must be found in His peace and in absolute trust in Him so that I can receive His wisdom and revelation regarding all that is before us. We want effectual prayers that bring effectual change, Spirit breathed actions and initiatives that come from God alone, peace that changes the atmosphere and thoughts that birth words of hope to those around us. We want to be the image of Christ walking the face of this earth.
Jesus never lost His composer because He knew how to keep His mind focused on things above— even if He had to wrestle in prayer! I have no doubt that Jesus had to deal with this mental warfare that must be overcome by the Spirit. We must not allow ourselves to just sink under it but to wrestle until we rise above it. We must not only work out in our bodies to remain healthy but we must practice a mental work out routine to keep our minds fixed on Christ.
If you need to reach out for help— do so! Don’t let this warfare sink you in the darkness until you cannot breathe. Then manage it daily through prayer, the Word of God and staying engaged with those who love Him. There is no more wasting time!
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26
