This Little Light of Mine— It Shatters the Darkness

By Kathi Pelton

Did you know that no matter how dark the night is and no matter how small a light brought into it is…IT SHATTERS THE DARKNESS!

We often think too small regarding our light or our influence within such a dark atmosphere around the world. As we watch Israel attacked by Hamas, India under such a deadly siege of the Covid virus, Lebanon in a financial crisis that is unheard of and pastors being arrested in our neighboring nation, Canada— we can easily become intimidated by the darkness.

What we need to remember is that we are carriers of light. Our little light, when brought into a dark place, shatters the power of darkness. Darkness cannot coexist with light! There is either darkness or light and even “this little light of mine” is enough to dispel darkness and bring forth light so that all can see.

Oh how the enemy of God wants to intimidate those who carry light. He wants us to hide in caves or put out light under a “bushel” where it will be snuffed out. He wants men to dwell in darkness because that is where he does his dark deeds. We pray for exposure of hidden things but that will only happen as light is brought into the darkness. It’s time to come out of the caves!

Our Adversary dwells in darkness, looking for who he can devour, therefore we must go and shed light so that many might be saved and his plans are exposed and thwarted before being carried out. We want him running to hide along with all of his cohorts—intimated and afraid of the light within us.

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith” 1 Peter 5:8–9

We carry within us the Spirit of The Lion of Judah, whose roar and authority brings life and liberty to the captives. He lives in you and he lives in me and where we go, he goes!

I keep seeing in my mind scenes from the Disney movie, “The Lion King.” Scar was the lion who sought to kill, steal and destroy Mufasa and take over his pride and steal his position as their king. When he did, darkness and death came upon the land. He frightened and intimidated Mufasa’s son (Simba) into running to hide in a far off land so that he would not take his rightful place as king. As long as Simba didn’t recognize his true identity, his light and his authority as Mufasa’s son, then Scar could prowl the land and devour all memory of Mufasa. Once Simba (meaning “courageous warrior”) came to his senses, he returned and took his rightful place
as King. Then restoration, light and life was able to return to the land.

The enemy wants to accuse you, intimidate you and cause you to run in fear— hiding from your true identity (even forgetting who you truly are). He sends assignment that trap you and stalk you like the hyenas in this animated film. It is time to RESIST HIM! Let your faith arise and your confident assurance be founded in the one who lives within you and whose son (or daughter) you are. “REMEMBER!”

In reality, you are not merely a “little light” but you carry the Light of the World within you. You carry the blood of the One who defeated sin and death and who can bind the strongman (Satan)— and one day he fully will! He will plunder his house and take this earth back.

We carry his victory within us and his name is written upon us— which causes demons to tremble. We are the head and not the tail. It’s time to remember who you are and who is with you always. It is time to let the Light of the World shine through you.

Get rid of the bushel (or bowl). Why is the enemy attacking “breath” or “oxygen levels” so fiercely— you cannot a flame of light without oxygen. He is trying to snuff the flames out by removing oxygen. Fear, accusation and intimidation causes the air to be sucked out of you just as this virus causes oxygen to be greatly decreased. It’s time to blow on the sparks until they ignite into flame! Shake off the assignments and breath deep until you shine bright.

God is here to breathe his life back into you, to blow oxygen on the little spark and watch it become a fire that burns bright. He is breaking off every assignment sent against you to snuff out your light.

Again, “REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!” Stop running from your true identity while the Deceiver and Adversary roams around devouring you and all that you love.

You carry the light that shatters the darkness. Now…let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Don’t Let The Bad Days Define You

By Kathi Pelton

Yesterday was a bad day for me! After a glorious evening on Friday night I woke up and was almost immediately plunged into an “all round” bad day. Yep— they come to all of us.

I’d say it was merely just one of those days that you hope won’t be an entry in the journal of your life but I had to look with the eyes of the Spirit to gain understanding about what made it so bad.

As I woke up this morning my first thought was, “Just shake off the dust, lay it at the feet of Jesus and enter into thanksgiving.” I had to refocus my thoughts, my emotions and my meditations on thing above! This is where that unshakable joy is taken hold of and pulled into our shakable emotions. When bad days come to shake your emotions— that is when we must find the unshakable foundation and truths of God. That is what defines our lives and that is what stabilizes and realigns the strongholds of our flesh with the stability of His Spirit.

We cannot always change circumstances but we can change our response to those circumstances. We need to understand that usually what needs to be realigned and brought back to the unshakable care of Jesus is our emotions and our flesh.

Whether you are a someone who gets sad, or angry, or anxious or melancholy…it doesn’t matter. The area that you are being “tossed around in is your flesh!” Yesterday my flesh (I tend to get really sad) was taking the lead! Although it happens to all of us from time to time— we cannot remain in that place because flesh driven emotions will never lead you to wise decisions or clear conclusions. They will control you with extremes (highs or lows) and begin to define the journey of your life according to your circumstances and soul.

Raw emotions will tell you to make vows or permanent decisions regarding a temporary problem. Most of the world is living according to their souls and living out the steps that are controlled by their flesh. This is why we see such chaos in our streets and why our neighborhoods are filled with so many broken families.

I believe it is Bill Johnson who says that he allows himself only three minutes to get over an offense. Some days you may have to do that numerous times but we must learn to quickly submit our flesh (emotions) to the Spirit that lives within us and allow Him to help you to take every thought captive.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

When you find yourself “waging war according to the flesh” (such as I did a good majority of my day yesterday), it is time to ask for divine power to overcome and destroy the “strongholds of your flesh” (arguments and lofty opinions) with the knowledge of God!

It is there that we take every emotional thought captive and submit them to the obedience of Christ. Just because you think you’re right does not mean that you are making righteousness (right) decisions. There is right and there is righteous and sometimes you have to lay down your rights to walk in righteousness.

On those “emotions gone wild” days, stop and pray those verses from 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 and ask the Spirit of God to help you to take every thought captive and to bring His divine power to help you to overcome personal strongholds. Otherwise you will just be waging war with flesh which will lead you into more flesh. Especially when another person is involved— two strongholds of flesh will never produce a righteous outcome. This is why we have so many divisions in families and friendships; it is mankind waging wars according to the flesh merely producing and fortifying strongholds.

In conclusion— do not let bad days define your journey! Your bad days need to be training days of how to take every thought captive through the divine power that overcomes strongholds. We ALL have strongholds that need to be overcome. They may manifest differently but until we are given glorified bodies we must learn to tame the flesh.

If you had a bad day then it’s time to practice taking every thought captive and seeing it draw you into the posture of “complete obedience.” If your bad day involves another person then remember that it is not them against you or right against wrong— it’s flesh against spirit and we must render discipline against the flesh until it submits to the obedience of Christ. Then the knowledge of God will lead you into all truth and overcome strongholds. The divine solution is found in the submission to His Spirit. Make today good by using the weapons of the Spirit! This is where fruitfulness will be restored.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Let fruitfulness define your day!

This Is The Most Profound Encounter I Have Ever Had— And It’s For You…

By Kathi Pelton

Since this virus hit our world I began hearing the Lord inviting us to come and sit at His table.

Then, He took me into a vision that became an encounter. In this encounter it was Springtime, as I could see the cherry blossom petals blowing all around. I saw Jesus knocking on the heart of His Bride (the Church) and she opened the door but He could not come in; for it was too cluttered. It was crammed full (overflowing) with “spiritual things” yet nothing of true eternal value. Then our Bridegroom asked her if He could clean her heart and she said, “Yes, give me a clean heart.”

He then proceeded to pull EVERYTHING out. When it was completely cleared and empty of everything but His presence at work, He brought in a small table and set it in the middle of this room (heart). Then He places two chairs at this table. After setting the chairs down He placed a loaf of bread and a glass of wine on the table and He sat down. He then spoke and said,

As the bride sat down at this table of intimacy and began to partake of Him the glory of the Lord filled the room. She fell on her face at His feet and began to pour herself over His feet.

Come My Bride, come eat of Me and drink of Me— let us dine together on all that you need.

– Let us say “yes” to Him; come clean our hearts, set up His table and partake of His body and blood. May His glory fill the temple and power from on high come upon us as we pour ourselves out over His feet. –
